New Years Eve Cancellation

Wed, Nov 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM

Wow what a year for all of us.

It started by ringing in the New Year with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark in Times Square and another sold out cruise that created memories that will last a lifetime.  The US leg of the NKOTBSB tour played to a record 55 shows and over 600,000 people including the gig of our lives at Fenway Park that we got to share with all of you.

As you know, no New Kids event is complete without the chance to share it with our fans.  On that note, after significant consideration, we have decided to cancel the New Years Eve event in New York City.  The reason for this is while it’s apparent some of you could join us, a vast majority of you couldn’t due other obligations that you have on this holiday.  We heard from so many of you that this date just couldn’t work.  We’re sorry for any inconvience.  It’s just so important to us that these events can be shared with all of you.

We’re so excited for the year ahead which will include our first trip back to Europe since 2009, additional NKOTBSB tour legs soon to be announced, another sold out cruise and additional NKOTB North American touring plans and very special events.  We would be nothing without your love and support and appreciate your understanding on this needed change.  Should anyone be unable to get out of any travel obligations, please send an email to nyetravel@nkotb.com and we will do our best to assist you.

We wish you the happiest of holidays.  Spend it with your loved ones and we’ll see you in 2012!

This is really upsetting & doesn't make sense. I was excited to go, it took me 1/2 hr to get on the site to purchase tickets & I don't even get an email telling me the event was cancelled but I just got an email saying they're going to Australia. They can't please every fan it's impossible & I don't buy that excuse when I also got an email saying there's a cap on membership. I can't afford to go to the cruise, they didn't cancel that for us who couldn't go. & about the date um isn't going out something people also do on NYE??
I had 2 major back surgeries this yr, I went to 4 concerts in a back brace by train & bus. I'm finally starting to feel alot better & after this hard yr, starting off 2012 w/NKOTB would've been awesome for me. Then on Thanksgiving day I log on & see a MSG!?! How come I didn't get any email about it or a refund. It kinda messed up my Thanksgiving. This was something I was thankful for. I've been a fan for almost 24yrs. They're tour w/Bsb helped me get through this long healing process & that would've helped alot more.
It almost feels like someone is playing a cruel joke!!! What about us fans who did buy tickets?? And made travel arrangements? ThIs is a HUGE let down!!
    * I've been a member of Block Nation since it started & this is the 1st time I post to anything cause I'm too shy. But all the complaining about not going & the cancellation w/an excuse I don't believe is VERY upsetting!

I agree with U, i purchased my airfare & accommodation to the concert here in Sydney before it got cancelled and even though i wasn't happy the tour got cancelled i made the most of it, even though i live North of the NSW border i had never been there and i didn't want to waste the hotel & air fare I had already paid for so guess what i gave myself a mini break to Sydney. Your air fare etc might not be refundable but can it be transferred to someone else? if so I'm sure there are people who would kill to be there but can't get hotels etc.

Ok first off I want to say that I did not purchase a ticket for this. Only because I am not made of money, it's Christmas and my money needs to be spent elsewhere. HOwever, I did take time to think about it and agonize over whether to try and get tickets. The issue was that the tickets were expensive and the travel and accomodations to/in NY on NYE is outrageous. So in saying that, if I had booked it, I would be incredibly enraged!! I would have lost at least a $1000.00 and I would have been pissed and i would have let everyone know it! So to all of you who are massively outraged, I am behind you 100%.

Now as for the reason it was cancelled; I would asume it was that it wasn't sold out, I could be wrong but if that was the case, shows are cancelled all the time for poor sales. IT sucks and when you are spending so much in travel costs, we take that chance everytime we book. It doesnt make it easier to accept but unfortunately it happens. They have to make a profit, for the show to go on. You wouldnt go to work if your job wasn't going to pay you for the day. Now if you celebrate NYE you know and, when you are not so angry you will realize that a smaller venue would be impossible, its NYE everything is booked!

We all talk about being a family and loving one another. But let's be honest on a day to day basis my family and friends are here with me all the time. They support me and hang out with me and talk to me on the phone all the time. Last time I checked none of the guys are doing this in your life so we have to put them in the appropriate category in our lives. We love them, respect them and want to see them. They love their fans and like to be in the spotlight with them. But they have their real families and friends which do and should be their top priority. I wouldnt respect them if they weren't. To say that because they cancelled they dont love their fans or respect them is ridiculous. It is what it is, and it sucks huge for those that are probably losing money because of it.

I feel bad for anyone who loses money because something happens and they can't go or when things are cancelled. You have the right to scream and yell at the top of your lungs. You have the right to voice your opinion on here or anywhere else. My only disappointment is that they guys didnt make a statement about this in person. I believe they should to appease their fans; let people know why this really happened. Having it shrouded in mystery is just stiring the pot and pissing people off.

I do not believe however that this was cancelled because people "whinned and compalined that they couldn't go" if it had sold out they would not cancel unless for personal reasons. It is a business and they wouldn't risk the loss otherwise. I do not believe that because maybe people that have been able to go to 100 Ultimates so the guys know their names that they compalined so the show was cancelled. That seems irresponsible and absolutely ridiculous!! I believe that was their way of saying the sales were shit so we have to cancel. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really hope not because if I am, my opinion of them would definitely change and not for the better. People say they do not owe their fans, well they do owe them respect and understanding that without the fans they wouldnt be where they are today. And if I am wrong they have shown a lack of this and that will be an issue, and that is where alot of the negative comments are coming from. So last thing, I hope I am right and that the truth comes out and they are the Group we believe them to be. Again I feel for everyone who is angry as hell and hope you can recoup most of the money, and also that you have been met with such negative comments for being angry. You have a right to be so shout it out so you can move on later. Have a great Christmas everyone!!

I know I could not make the NKOTB concert for NYE, but if I had, I would have been disappointed and moved on in being excited for any of your 2012 plans. I still love you NKOTB!
