Michael Jackson was, without a doubt, the single most amazing performer that I’ve ever seen. As a young teenage boy with a dream- he was beyond inspirational. The fact that his public/private life became a soap opera and a sideshow is more of a reflection of our societies misplaced priorities than it is a reflection of the type of person that he may have been. Yet despite all of that- the fact that his performances, even of even 25 years ago, still resonate today….. THAT is a true testament to his greatness.

Hey!!!

Couple of answers to FAQ (just found out what FAQ meant)
Frequently asked questions!!!!!
Here goes:
It has to be a NEW childrens book.
Age range for books is preferably  infant to 5 years.
BUT if you have a favorite book that you feel compelled
to purchase that is a little older in age range go for it.
By all means, do local book drives that are inspired by Let’s Get This.
There have been a lot of great ideas! We can take those books from you
at the shows and get them in the right hands.
Volunteers will be notified with-in about a week of the show.
We wish we could pick all of you, but we narrowed it down to 10 for each show-
all of you are incredibly qualified- professionally and passionately
and I look forward to expanding Let’s Get This Foundation
and leaning on everyone to take this to new heights.
To all those who wanted to volunteer with their kids,
I think that it’s great to get them involved. Please have them
come by and drop off a book, but it might not be the best situation for kids
to do the actual volunteering :)
The volunteers are important, but its everyone else’s job to keep them busy
by bringing lots of new books!!!
Thank you again to everyone for all the amazing e-mails-
you are really pumping me up and inspiring me to go further.
This is only the beginning!!!
Everybody now…. Let’s Get This!!!

Wow!
The poems, the pictures, the people…
I never thought I would learn so much about you guys this way,
but what a way to do it!

Your personal stories are inspiring and your ideas are awesome.
And we intend to act upon many of them. This is just the beginning.

Step 1 is this book drive and we will be picking the volunteers right away.
We will contact those volunteers in the next week for the first week of the tour.
I will tell everyone when we are maxed out for volunteers. If you don’t get picked
that is no reflection on you. The response has been overwhelming- which is great!-
but we can’t pick everyone unfortunately.
BUT! As you know, we will need everybody’s help to get the word out and encourage
people to bring a NEW book to our show.
*Don’t get frustrated if we don’t get back to you. We are doing this step by step, but they
are baby steps right now :)

Let’s not push anybody. This is a fun night out for everybody and if people choose
to help in another way or not that is totally cool. Again, we will be working with an on-line
organization so people can contribute that way, too.

So stay tuned! We will be in contact in all kinds of ways- emails, Twitter, and coming soon
our Let’s Get This web-site!

Thank you again for your amazing response! Keep the energy going!
Let’s Get This!

To all those amazing people that e-mailed letsgetthisfoundation@gmail.com,
Thank you! It is so very cool and inspiring to see your enthusiasm.
Your stories are so diverse and rich. You guys are smart! Dang!
I am working on being able to reply to all you guys at once,
but I am not keen with in the IT department. Luckily I got
some cracker jack folks on that problem.
In the meantime, I would like to email me  again like this:

In the subject line, please put the city of the show you are going to
and if you can volunteer. I will need you to be there
at 5 PM and you will be “briefed” (oooohhhh) by me.
Hopefully we will be getting lots of books each night
and we need to hand out the vouchers for the free download
of the epic song :) “5 Brothers and a Million Sisters.”

All those who can not come to the shows and want
to get involved and stay involved, we need you too!
I am taking in all the suggestions and great ideas
from all around the world. I can’t wait to watch this grow!

But for now, I need those volunteers that are available at the shows
during this Full Service Tour.

Remember, we will be working with an amazing on-line organization
for those who can’t bring book can donate on-line.

And finally, we are only going to take NEW books.
I know that might be frustrating to some, but I am talking
with people that do this everyday and know what can make the
biggest impact. And that is NEW books.

Let’s Get This!!!!!

This blog is the informal yet official announcement of something very
exciting and powerful-
The Let’s Get This Foundation-
Helping the world, Step by Step.

I believe that all of us want to help out, but we don’t know how or we
just don’t think our contribution will make a difference. Thankfully,
the fact is we can make a difference.

The Let’s Get This Foundation is about people coming together to learn
how, in even the smallest ways, we can make the world a better place.

We are gonna learn as we go, but the time is now!

We want this foundation to be a hub for all kinds of charitable works.
A place where we can go to get involved in something that we are
passionate about. A place where we can find a passion we didn’t know
we had.

Charity often feels like a selfless action, but we believe that
there’s no greater feeling than helping others in need.

Like it says- helping the world, Step by Step- we will take it one
endeavor at a time.

So… “Step 1″ is a Summer Children’s Book Drive on this year’s Full
Service Tour.
There is an enormous lack of age appropriate reading material for the
kids.
I will be informing you with the staggering facts in the coming weeks.

Of course, I am aware that I am asking you to buy a new book after you
already have paid for tickets to our show, so if you can’t afford to
do it now, maybe you will be inspired to help out in another way.

But a quick note to those of you that spend money on teddy bears and
t- shirts or hats for us, maybe this summer you can spend it on a new
book for a child that really needs it :)

We fully appreciate all of the gifts you bring to the show and it is a
sign of your artistry and love, but I know me and the guys would feel
alot better knowing that your gift went to a bigger cause.

Early reading is crucial in so many ways and effects almost every part
of society. There is a huge void and I know we can fill it with new
books for these children.

I will be in touch with all kinds of info and a new web-site to link
us all up.

In the meantime, I’m working on a studio version for “5 Brothers and a
Million Sisters” and will give it away as a free download to those who
bring a NEW childrens book to a show this summer. Having the actual
books in hand is great. However, if you choose not to bring one with
you to the concert, we are hooking up with an amazing on-line
organization that will enable you to buy a new book for as low as TWO
Dollars!!! Those who want to go that route will also get the free
download- my thank you for getting involved.

I will be looking for volunteers in every city to help out at the
shows, so start working on you “why I want to be a part of the book
drive” in 100 words or less essay :) EMAIL ONLY TO: letsgetthisfoundation@gmail.com

More to come very soon!
Thank you for listening.
And I wouldn’t be asking your help if I didn’t think we will be making
a huge impact on this problem!
Now… For real….
Let’s Get This!!!

I just saw that Jared got a somewhat nasty email. Funny thing is that I was going to post a quick thank you later on tonight to all the people who wrote in to the contest. There were some very touching stories and it was very hard to pick one fan out of the thousands. Thanks for taking the time and thanks for turning to us for your entertainment and hopefully for some inspiration in troubling times. You guys have definitely brightened up my life! Let’s keep doin this together for a long time!!!

All my love,

5 brothers and a million sisters

Friday afternoon in Bostontown-
still know my way around.
Tryin’ ‘a find the rehearsal spot for
the reunion of the ‘kids on the block.

Gonna rip it like we used to do.
Good to be back chillin’ with the crew.
Don’t know how its gonna be, but
last time we made history.

So tell ya mother and ya sistah too,
the New Kids are coming back for you.
And in my heart I knew you’d never forget,
but to see you again like this
makes me feel like I’ll never be alone.

Wherever it is I’m goin’ to, whatever I am
is because of you and I thank you. And I thank you.
5 BROTHERS AND A MILLION SISTERS-
didn’t know how much I missed you.
Thank you. And I thank you.

All the way back and all the way up tonight.
Call it what you want, but I’ll call it love tonight.
Some people said we couldn’t do it again,
but the New Kids had the last word in the end.

See what happens when you follow your dreams?
See what happens when you just believe?
The whole world opens up her arms.
Everything is easy that used to be hard.

So tell ya mother that I lover her too
and don’t you know we did it all for you, cuz
in my heart I knew you’d never forget,
but to see you again like this
makes me feel like I’ll never be alone.

Wherever it is I’m goin’ to, whatever I am
is because of you and I thank you. And I thank you.
5 BROTHERS AND A MILLION SISTERS-
didn’t know how much I missed you.
Thank you. And I thank you.

Cuz you build me up. You make me high.
When I feel your love, I wanna fly.
No matter what we’re goin’ through
there ain’t nothin’ we can’t do.

And I thank you.
