NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
BRING THE HOLIDAY CHEER TO BOSTON
THE GROUP PULLED OUT ALL THE STOPS WITH SPECIAL GUESTS JOHNNY GILL AND RICKY BELL FROM NEW EDITION
FOR A SPECIAL ONE NIGHT ONLY EVENT
BENEFITING GREATER BOSTON’S TOYS FOR TOTS
EVENT RAISED OVER $60K AND 5 TRUCKLOADS OF BRAND NEW TOYS FOR THE CHARITY
NEW YORK – New Kids on the Block brought the holiday cheer to a sold out crowd at Boston’s House of Blues during a special holiday show this past weekend to benefit great Boston’s Toys for Tots. The Boston boys sold out their show within minutes, and with all net proceeds from the event going directly to Toys for Tots, the group raised over 60k instantly. In addition to the monetary donations that poured in, fans filled FIVE plus truckloads of brand new toys to support the charity.
“We’ve said it before, but we can never say it enough, we have the most amazing fans in the world. It is their generosity and dedication that made this all possible,” said Donnie Wahlberg. “Thanks to them, we are able to do what we do and help to give back. 5 truckloads of brand new toys went to Toys for Tots last night!!! The trucks were brimming! It was truly the most incredible sight.”
“Santa who? The New Kids bring more toys than that guy!” exclaimed Sergeant Clint T Schibner of Greater Boston Toys for Tots. Going on, the Sergeant said, “We are absolutely amazed at the sincerity and generosity the New Kids have not only shown Toys for Tots, but more importantly the less fortunate children of the Boston area…their hometown! Marines pride themselves on taking care of their own. The New Kids can take pride in knowing their contribution, as well as their fans’ contributions, will affect the lives of tens of thousands of children in the communities where they grew up, thus, taking care of their own.”
Promising a fun night full of surprises, the group did not disappoint. NKOTB showed some fan appreciation performing hit after hit including classic NKOTB holiday songs that haven’t been performed live in over 15 years! The New Kids pulled out all the stops even bringing local legends Johnny Gill and Ricky Bell from New Edition on stage to sing their joint song “Full Service” from New Kids’ recent album, “The Block.” The Boston boys even debuted their brand new song, “Coming Home” which fans received as a free download when the pre-ordered the band’s upcoming DVD of the same name. Adding more local flavor, NKOTB invited local businessman Ernie Boch to open and even play with them on select songs with his band Ernie and the Automatics. With non-stop action and surprise after surprise, lucky NKOTB fans were certainly treated to a one of a kind evening.

The show was incredible. My friends and I braved the blizzard in VA/MD to drive up to Boston because our flight was cancelled. It was so well worth it. It was my first time in Boston and visiting Dorchester - wow my childhood dream of visiting the guys’ hometown has finally come true. The concert was so much fun - way exceeded any expectations I could’ve had. The guys sounded so good and looked good as usual.
So thankful to Donnie for always taking an extra mile to come out and give hugs to all of us outside HOB, HRC and the after party. Had the best weekend of 2009 this past weekend in Boston. Ahhh….totally unforgettable.
I love you guys sooooo much!!! Can’t wait to see you again soon!
I’ll brave the cold to come see you any day.
love,

I don’t think “holiday cheer” adequately describes my feelings. What’s a word that’s 10 or 12 levels above cheer but doesn’t make me sound like a crackhead? It was like that.
Same time next year?

I am sad I wasn’t able to physically be there, but like so many others, I was there in spirit. I hear it was an awesome show, and in watching videos I would have to agree. Also, I am NOT surprised at how much was raised for the TOYS 4 TOTS campaign, BLOCKHEADS RULE!!! Looking forward to see what 2010 has in store for you as a group, and of course for us…the fans! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I was there, came all the way from Canada T. Dot area. Had wonderful Vip seats, front row..great pics. All 5 of them out did themselves. It was a Christmas Miracle. Thank You it was worth fighting the snowstorm / blizzard, late flights, changing flights, waiting in the cold and being by myself. I loved the passion Joey had when he sang Holy Night. Jordan in his Santa outfit, Danny gave a special mistletoe kiss to his daughters, Jonathan surprising almost all his fans that were there with something cute and Donnie hes dedication in outting this event together with the guys and the After Party. Also the hug he gave me, as he remembered who I was and said ” I Love when I see you smile.” That was my Christmas Present- the fact he remembered me by my first tear when I first meet him on the cruise. Cant wait for what 2010 has to offer us with those 5 wonderful guys NKOTB. Merry Christmas Jordan, Jonathan, Danny, Donnie & Joe- with all your family and friends. See you in the New Year!
With Love

Words can’t express what an amazing night it was! And seeing the Marines on stage, that was so heartwarming. We owe so much to the soldiers and it was so wonderful to be able to cheer for them! And the money and Toys for Tots, wow, it’s amazing what can happen when everyone gives a little.
Thank you to NKOTB, you guys are amazing performers with huge hearts!

The whole weekend was MAGICAL!!! From the pre dinner fan meet to Rob’s pre party at CasknFlagon to the concert(who will ever forget the use of that mistletoe?!?!?!) to the afterparty…it was hella cold but NKOTB brought the warmth and love!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I LOVE NKOTB 4EVER!!!!!!!!!
December 22nd, 2009 at 5:40 pm
We had a canceled flight, at least 20 inches of snow, a very delayed flight and a non blockhead’s help (Yes, we converted her!!!) to make it just as Rob was finishing his set, but it was worth every second of loss sleep, chewed up nails, sore shoulders from shoveling, and every cuss word that we muttered when we thought weren’t going to make it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
December 23rd, 2009 at 1:25 am
Wow, 5+ truckloads of toys & 60k! Good job, everyone! Wish I could’ve been there! SO jealous of the girl who got a kiss from Jon!!!
I can’t wait for a new album & tour so we can hear Coming Home too! Wishing everyone a funky funky Christmas!
I always donate to Toys for Tots & Second Harvest Food Bank around the holidays. I have stepped up my donations throughout the year too since I know a lot of people are hurting. Hunger doesn’t take a holiday so please help others if you can.
So glad Joey made it too. When does the Mac Pac 3000 ship??

What an amazing night and this Scottish Blockhead was proud to be there.
It was an amazing show (how could it not be with such amazing performers!) The event helped kids in Boston which is a wonderful city but of course it finally made my dream come true after over 20 years…. i got to see NKOTB perform in thweir home town of Boston…. all i can say is, they didn’t dissapoint! … For the lucky girls who got kisses during Mistletoe Magic….. i bet your still smiling and Merry Christmas.
For Jonathan who was still in pain after surgery.. i hope you have your feet up and your resting now.
For Joey who just made it…. it wouldn’t have been the same with out you, you brought me to tears during Oh Holy Night… (after the do over! ;-0)
For Danny who brought his two girls to a wonderful show.. you rock!
To Jordan who danced as well as kissed his lucky girl and amde me smile with you crazy Santa antics!
To Donnie.. well I am a Jonathan Girl ( as are you it seems :-)) but i have to say you are the man and i have one thing to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
You guys know how to make dreams come true. On Sunday the 20th December 2009 you made mine come true and along with 2500 fellow Blockheads we all made thousands of Childrens Dreams come true… THANK YOUxxx
I am looking forward to seeing you on the road again soon and hopefully back in the UK and Europe.(Pretty please?)
