Wow!
The poems, the pictures, the people…
I never thought I would learn so much about you guys this way,
but what a way to do it!
Your personal stories are inspiring and your ideas are awesome.
And we intend to act upon many of them. This is just the beginning.
Step 1 is this book drive and we will be picking the volunteers right away.
We will contact those volunteers in the next week for the first week of the tour.
I will tell everyone when we are maxed out for volunteers. If you don’t get picked
that is no reflection on you. The response has been overwhelming- which is great!-
but we can’t pick everyone unfortunately.
BUT! As you know, we will need everybody’s help to get the word out and encourage
people to bring a NEW book to our show.
*Don’t get frustrated if we don’t get back to you. We are doing this step by step, but they
are baby steps right now
Let’s not push anybody. This is a fun night out for everybody and if people choose
to help in another way or not that is totally cool. Again, we will be working with an on-line
organization so people can contribute that way, too.
So stay tuned! We will be in contact in all kinds of ways- emails, Twitter, and coming soon
our Let’s Get This web-site!
Thank you again for your amazing response! Keep the energy going!
Let’s Get This!

Joe- this is fantastic! not only are you guys amazing to us, but you are each trying to give back in your own ways. Books have always been a part of my life and I can’t imagine not having them… I will be participating as best as I know how. “Where the Wild Things Are”, anybody? another childhood favorite- “Where the Sidewalk Ends”

Thank you Joe! Let’s get this growing and growing!

Thanks Joe! I bought several books this weekend, and I see what you mean about lack of inappropriate material. Some of the titles I saw were ridiculous.
One question: what age ranges are you looking for with this material? Do you just want early reading or would books for older kids work too? I’d like to pick up some of my old favorites to pass on.
Hope to be helping you at Holmdel or Mohegan!
Love,
Katie

Let’s Get This Foundation…great idea Joe! Cheers, I absolutely agree with you. Books have always been and still are such a big part of my life. Every child deserves to be exposed to great stories. Where the Wild Things Are and Where the Sidewalk Ends are two of my faves! Thanks Joe for allowing us to help others less fortunate through what already is a fantastic organization! Hopefully I will get a chance to help out at the Toronto show on June 21st!
May 26th, 2009 at 7:32 am
You’ve truely touched my heart with this one……I’m very proud of you guys for reaching out and doing this. This will make a world of difference in many childrens lives. Toronto is a big city and there are many children with low income families that I am surrounded by.
All my love and support,

Joe,
This is such a great idea. You all continue to amaze me with the wonderful things you come up with! I went out this weekend and bought my books for the shows I will be going to. I was able to find a place where a portion of the purchase of a book goes to charity as well, so it’s doubling my donation! I also told all my friends and family that I saw this weekend and so many of them were inspired by your idea. I have a feeling that WIYC, EKK and I will have to rent a trailer to bring all the books to the shows in Chicago and Indy!! I will be seeing you (and hopefully finally meeting you) in Chicago in just 31 days! XOXO Carey
May 26th, 2009 at 7:34 am
I luv it Joe! Thank you so much for creating such a great foundation! I’m already recruiting people who aren’t going to concert to get books for your drive. I would luv to help out but if i don’t, its all good. As long as children are getting books to read.
Again, you are amazing, we are a reflection of u guys, Thank you!:)
See ya Auburn, WA, July 7, cant wait!
Luv Ya Joe,

Great Idea, Joe!

this is so exciting…I did not write you as most of my shows are out of town & I am not comfortable enough to that in a strange city BUT I can promise you that for the 6 shows I am attending I will have a book…so 6 books
Now are you looking for specific age groups or every age range? Just wondering if I should buy Dr. Seuss or Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants or Twilight
So excited….we are so going to get this!!!!!

Love this idea and especially excited by the book drive since I have wanted to do something like this for awhile. I am wondering if there is a way to have the donated books from each city go to a worthwhile group in that area so local residents can see the benefits of the Lets Get This movement.
Can’t wait for more details … And to see you in a month!!

May 26th, 2009 at 8:08 am
Hi Joe,
I’m loving this latest idea with the books but is there a way those of us from the UK not attending a summer concert can get involved? Point me in the right direction & I’ll gladly volunteer….

May 26th, 2009 at 8:09 am
I think it’s so wonderful that you’re using your popularity for a good cause. Very smart! You know your fans will do anything for ya, and having them actually do something good with all that loyalty… is genius!
I hope we can really make a difference in the lives of many children!
You need to write a LET’S GET THIS song!!! I love 5 Brothers, and I think it’s awesome that you get that download as a reward for contributing, but I think you need to work on a Let’s Get This song to raise awareness and help motivate and unite more people (that aren’t just NKOTB fans). I know you can do it. You’re wicked smart!
May 26th, 2009 at 8:17 am
Thanks very much for proving once again how much we can all succeed if we do things TOGETHER. I have signed up to help if you come back to the UK so please give me a shout if you need anything. Would love to also help out even if you dont return to the UK so PLEASE let us know how……

Joey, thank you for the wonderful opportunity!!!:)
I knew you were the kind of person who comes up with such great idea and I really respect you for who you are.
I am so happy that I fell in love with the right person in the very young age and still loving you with greatest respect!!
Since I don’t live in the States and cannot be of help as a volunteer this time, please give us another chance to become one for STEP 2! It would be wonderful if you would pick different people each time and let us all be part of it! This time, I am going to be part of it as a donator of NEW books on line from Japan! Hopefully for STEP 2, I can work with you as a volunteer!
I am looking forward to seeing the new website and am sooooo excited of being part of your project, Joey!
Thank you again, and Let’s make Difference!

Thanks Joe for organizing this. Books have always been a big part of my life and my children’s life. I look forward to have the chance to pass on the joy of owning a book and reading on to other children. I wish you would have come up with idea a week earlier. Our school had a book fair May 11th-15th, and they had alot of bargain books for $2.If I would have known before I would have purchased them.

I believe books are a key to lead you wherever you want. Teaching a child to read is giving them the key of the freedom that knowledge brings. Parents, teachers, writers and society all have the compromise of lead children to the right door to use the key.
I’m a self learned person,I did high school, college, learnt 3 lenguages and finished a second career by myself and always keep on the continuing learning. How I did it? Mom used to read for me a lot of stories that inspired me to learn to read since 3yrs,I was hungry of books,of stories,of knowledge and she always supervised closely what I readed.
She gave me the key adn lead me to the right door! THANK YOU FOR TAKING THIS RESPONSABILTY!!

I FINALLY figured out how to leave a comment! Wow, I’m slow.
Anyway, here’s my real comment….
Lets Get This Foundation= awesome!!!! I will definately bring some kids books to the mansfield, ma show. Looking forward to seeing NKOTB and Jesse Mac!!!
May 26th, 2009 at 11:14 am
Joe, once again, I praise this wonderful cause!
I’ll be telling as many people as I can (that I know going to your shows) the wonderful thing you are doing. Regardless if I volunteer or not, I’ll be helping you in some way. Maybe I can even convince some fans who are not able to make it to the concert to purchase a book and I’ll take them to the show for them.
I did read how someone mentioned inappropriate material. As a mom of two young girls, there are some amazing childrens books out there! I’m lucky enough to have some wonderful ideas that I can take from my own children and pass it/them onto another child.
Much love and hugs to everyone involved in this!

I for one think this a great cause. It is very important to get children to read.It is statistically proven if you read to children starting at birth, that they will become better readers, also will improve their I.Q.’s.I agree with Let’s Get This , but i would like to add to it.LET’S GET THIS BOOKED!xxxoooo’s

Sounds Great Joey Joe!
I think the most important thing is that kids will get new books…it shouldn’t be overshadowed by people being upset about not getting picked! lol
Thanks a bunch for doing this! Take care and as always “LET’S GET THIS!”

Joe-
You never cease to amaze me!
I’m super excited about doing my part for your foundation.
I really hope I get the chance to help. I’ve always wanted
to get more involved with giving back to the community and
what a perfect idea…So many people are inspired by you..
thanks for sharing your voice…you’ve started a crusade
that I am SOOO thrilled to be a part of!
I research a few places in your hometown that would benefit
from your foundation and emailed that to you. I also suggested
you start a facebook page- or have those in each city who is
chosen to help could start an individual facebook page with
more info on your foundation and how to get involved. This will
also help spread the word to those who may not use Twitter.
Anyways, thanks for thinking of the children in our country who
are less fortunate than our children…and thanks for getting
us JOE girls pumped up for yet another fantastic adventure!!
LOVE YA!

Hope Joey Mac has read my email about eating disorders especially binge eating disorder!!! I’m actually writing my own story, and wouldn’t it be great to get awareness out there about a disorder that people are so very scared & ashamed of talking about or even acknowledging….this disorder affects soooo many areas of life, of society, and I pray my story and maybe Let’s Get This Foundation can help young women (and us older ones too) get a name to this enigma called Binge Eating Disorder (aka Compulsive EAting Disorder)….
Much love!!!
