Often when we are performing the slow jam medley, I think of all the
legends that came before us- Temptations, 4 Tops, Jackson 5, New
Edition.
At that moment in the show, the lights are dim, mostly spot lights so
it’s very moody and I think of all the tours and road shows that have
come before us. There is something so special about the sound and
moves of those groups- the whole thing really takes me back to the
soulful 60’s and 70’s- a classic time of showmanship that is a lost art.
It’s a privilege to, in our own way, carry that torch.
I wonder, in this day and age of instant everything, will the flame go
out or will we be lucky enough to see it passed along.

Joey,

In some sense to me you have passed the torch on… (Backstreet Boys, N’SYNC,) and in turn the other groups have passed it back to YOU.
I hadn’t seen your show in 20 years, and after the AWESOME show in Saskatoon! I have no doubts that the flame will never go out….
We won’t let it go out…..

Joey!!! I couldn’t agree more. The older classic musicality must not die!! I am so glad you keep their legacy alive by such a stirring tribute to those who’ve come before. You are a true song and dance man;) You have and will make a difference for artists that follow you as well. Thanks for the sweet tweets and I’m counting the days until the cruise and the STL concert. Thanks for the hip show up in CA–very entertaining and classier than any Chippendales have ever been. I thought that jersey was coming off LOL;)

It must be amazing out there every night? You do carry the flame, and your inspiration will ensure that it stays alight. And - showmanship - well you have it, you guys on stage, you keep it alive, and YOU in particular Joe, you sing your heart out to us every night, we can see you mean it, you put so much into the shows and we appreciate it more than you can know. You are in this for the performance - we know it!!!

Theres you of course.. but Boyz II Men did it for awhile… It be nice to see another group come out being original (and not auditioned for) while still remembering where they came from. I think the big issue is right now everything has already been done, been reinvented three times over. Where DO we go from here? Hopefully theres something out there working its butt off to do what you guys and those before you did.
Love you all,
Kerri xx

So glad you guy came back the music industry and the fans have really need this. hope you enjoy your day off.its so nice to be able to reply to you and not have to worry about short hand so I can get all my thoughts down without running out of characters.Nkotb fan for Life Robin from San Antonio

Music is what makes you move
Music is what makes you groove
Music can be good or bad depending on how its used
Music can make you choose different clothes to wear
Music can make you change your hair
Music can make you choose new friends
Music can make you want to dance
Music can make you fight
Music can make everything alright
Music can take care of you when your alone
Music can make everything feel like home
Music can harm and take away
Music can make you want to stay
Music is the only friend I have
Music is NKOTB
Music is what keeps me alive
When I feel like I can’t survive
April 15th, 2009 at 11:20 am
I pray it gets passed on because I agree with you, it’s getting lost in the shuffle between rap and metal. I think it our job as parents to expose them to the ART of music and not just leave it to them to find it or it will never be found. It’s almost like music is just music now when it used to be love and life and POETRY!!
I think your doing a marvalous job doing your part to keep it alive!

April 15th, 2009 at 11:23 am
I think it shall live on! There is nothing as special as seeing a show live. Every moment is in your memory to remember forever. It is forever “your” show. I know your music will live for a long, long, time! All of my friends’ kids are listening to your music! The second generation is being raised right! Long live The Block! Love you, Carey aka Wicked12
April 15th, 2009 at 11:24 am
Joe, you are the most talented performer I have had to privilege to see sing live. The old skool stuff is where you can see you hold your heart. Your solo stuff is fantastic and I can see that this is the music that suits you. I absolutely love your “Talk to me” album and am alternating between that and “The Block” at the min. I just hope you release your other albums on iTunes soon so we can get in the UK.
NEVER STOP DOING THE SOUL STUFF,its one of the best bits of the show. Technology may change but good music is timeless. Love you guys. xx

Joey,
There have been a few post NKOTB groups… none of them have the following of you guys. You guys have always been a positive influence just like many groups before you. I hope the torch will be passed but if it’s not I’m pretty content with NKOTB living on forever even if it’s just in our hearts & minds. Thank you again for blessing us one more time and doing what you all love to do… entertain!
God Bless!

Long live the flame. You’ve already inspired so many artists to this day. No doubt there will be more!
Keep it real, chuuch!
April 15th, 2009 at 11:29 am
Joe, I love that you still find joy in your shows, and after all these years you are introspective and appreciative on stage. We don’t know what will come, but perhaps in 20 or 30 years, someone will be on a stage thinking of how you came before. And hopefully you will be on a stage somewhere too, still feeling the love and joy you find now.
Love you!

I can’t bear the thought of that flame dying. There could never be a group as special as you guys…but I am sure that there will be more to come.
Your showmanship has always been one of my favorite parts of watching a NKOTB performance. Anything you do, you have class. Whether it’s dancing (DWTS) or performing solo. I love the way you put 100% of yourself in your performances. See you in June, Jenni XOXO
April 15th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Wow… what to say. You will see it passed on. There will someone to ome along and take over… they will never be you guys, but they will be themselves. Thank you for allowing this to continue… I’m sure it makes a lot more sense now than it did 20 years ago:)
Thanks from Des Moines- loved your gold shirt:)

The torch may be passed… you will NEVER be forgotten. Your calliber is just that, like the Temptations, the Jackson 5. It would be wonderful to see the torch passed. With shows like Americal Idol you think someone would have jumped on that bandwagon with the creation of the next new quartet etc…
There is enough talent out there without a show dedicated to a four/five-tone group, but no doubt it’s likely Hollywood’s next cash-cow.
You are written in that history book NKOTB. Proud of you we all are. You have given us something just like the Jacksons and the Temptaitions etc. You are a part of our hearts our memories. Your songs your music heck even your blogs and Twitters become part of what you give… that history you have given us bears tight in your peeps momories.
Love you boys -

Joe, that was so beautifully put. Showmanship like that is priceless. You and the guys know how to entertain a crowd night after night and that’s why we always come back for more. I don’t know if we will see quality showmanship like what you all do in the future, but you can only lead by example.

And I love your blogs. So from the heart.
April 15th, 2009 at 11:37 am
hey joeyjoe!
I think this reunion is proof that you’re not gonna see the flame go out. it never really did even when y’all left…we just put it our stoves on simmer waiting for y’all to come to us!! Y’all have what keeps bands before you goins, and what new bands are lacking. ya’ll are truly brothers who have learned each others quirks, and support each other like no other! You also reach out to your fans in ways that gives us the feeling that we are not just fans but family. always trying to get intimate with us, always keepin us in the know! always listening to what we’d like to see and always trying to keep us happy, in everyway that its logically doable!! i think these upcoming bands need to take some lessons in NKOTB’s history and future. Y’all are just a fad or a trend, NKOTB is a lifestyle. give it all you got and you will receive. laugh at your mistakes. age is just a number. nothing is more important than family. live life to the fullest and take risks! these and so much more are being taught by y’all @ every show and with every blog and tweet..as well as being thought among the fans..I LOVE Y’ALL!!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 11:37 am

If my husband put of his Ratpack DVD or CD to listen to Talk to me,
Sinatra gave his torch to you.
One day you will give that torch and inspiration to another young entertainer.

Don’t fret! It’ll definitely be passed along. Nothing beats live music and the reassuring sites and sounds of showmanship. It pulls people in and takes them home, to a place where comfort and reliability live. At least for me. Does that even make sense?
There have been others before and there will be others after. Don’t worry.
There’s always someone out there that loves to show-boat, just like you (but not as awesome :P)
Love ya!

Joe, you are a classic showman! I know you have said that you are an old soul in a young persons body, as am I. I love the old, classic song and dance, broadway, the stage. I, too, was a dancer when I was younger and still am a singer. My mom grew me up on barbershop harmony and all the old music, stage, and lights. I love it, love to perform, love to see an audience “get it”. You, Joe Mac, are a gem, one of a kind, and unfortunately maybe, a dying breed. Keep your torch going, there are still those of us who want to see it carried on!

Well said Joey Mac!!! Well said!!!! Weather u pass it on or not, you guys will be remembered as one of the GREAT’S!! Long live THE BLOCK!!!!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
It’s so funny you talk of showmanship… Last night at your concert, my friend (I dragged her to the concert. She forgot who you guys were- 80’s kid but she couldn’t remember your music, and now she is as much a fan as I have always been!) spoke of how great you guys were. She said how much you guys have showmanship that you’re willing to come to smaller cities like Victoria instead of just Vancouver or Toronto.
You guys show you’re not snobs or stuck up like some bands or singers we can think of. You guys truly care for your fans! Anywho, never think your not as good as all those great bands before you. You’re not just carrying a torch, your lighting everything on fire and always have been!
Loved seeing you guys back together again!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Joe, so great to see you acknowledge the great ones that have come before you…I think that it has in some way, been passed on to you and the guys, but with the way the music industry is going now, I seriously doubt that there will be someone for y’all to pass the torch to. So, please, keep it burning as long as you can!!
LOVE ALL OF YOU!! Take care, luv.

April 15th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
I hope that the torch gets passed on. There is nothing like seeing someone sing live….it is amazing. There is an intimacy….especially in the first few rows. For that moment when the lights are low. For me my heart is beating out of my chest….I can feel it…the energy….the hush….the anticipation. The the first note….amazing.
I hope that the music never dies and that things remain live and personal….sure technology is good but there is nothing like being there..in the moment.
April 15th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
With any kind of luck, you all are keeping the torch burning and helping it to continue into the future! It’s certainly a mood and ‘showmanship’ (perfect word by the way!) that deserves to be carried on for many generations to come!
I think it’s obvious by the response that you have received in this ‘comeback’ that that sort of performing art is still appreciated and needed!!
Thanks for keeping it going!
xoxoxo
P.S. I hope you can read all of this because it’s cutting off the view for us!!

once again my Joey senses weren’t working properly and now i’m way down on the list of comments again. Anyhoo…I totally get what you are saying and have had the same worry. Sure there were other boy bands after you (not on your level but anyways) but none that really captured that soulful singing and dancing that you’re referring to. I can’t imagine any of today’s bands doing what you do at that part of the show and carrying it off. I do worry for this generation and I keep hoping that we will all live to see someone worthy of you passing the torch on to. But like you, I worry that no one really cares to see it anymore b/c of all the instant, gotta have it right now attitudes of nearly everyone. Of course, your loyal fans still want to see it and hopefully we can pass it on to our own kids and keep it going.
Much Love,
Amy

Hi Blue Eyes,

You guys are now the legends! Making history. Your “come back” is great…but obviously you never left our hearts. And you never will. You have that special spark that makes NKOTB magical, like the other greats.
See you this Friday at ILAA in Santa Barbara!
Beth
April 15th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
you will pass the toarch and you guys will be together for a long long long time
April 15th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Joe,
We are so blessed that New Kids on the Block is “the group” of our generation. You ignited something in all of us about 20 years ago. As you can tell my ticket and album sales, sold out 5*, booked cruises, and girls hanging around buses and losing their voices because they were standing outside in the cold just to get a glimpse of you ;), we will keep the flame going as long as you let us!
Only four weeks until the cruise….hope to continue this converstion then.
Love ya,
Brandie from Chicago

Can’t wait to see you guys in Chicago!!

Oh Joe, don’t you realize that *you guys* are the ones who have carried the torch for so long? And in the last 15 years, other boy bands have tried to imitate your star-status (some quite successfully), but no one - NO ONE - holds a torch to you! Love you all…now WHERE are those Canadian dates???
April 15th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Hey Joey!
It’s been a little over a week since I had the privilege of a lifetime to meet you and the guys in Des Moines. I wish I could have said more to all of you that moment, but it was so surreal to find myself in a moment I thought I could only dream of. I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to finally be able to meet all of you…something I never thought would ever happen 18 years ago.
Been to see you guys twice now (and hope for more…come back to Minnesota!) and both times have been left in amazement. One goes to a concert thinking they know what they’re in for, and y’all somehow manage to step it up somewhere. That’s why I had to step it up in Des Moines and make sure my wheelchair was all decked out! (hopefully that expressed what I verbally could not)
Thank you, all of you, from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity. You’ll never know how much it means. Not only have I lived my childhood dream of seeing New Kids on the Block in concert, AND meeting them, but I’ve got friends in my life now that I didn’t have 6 months ago, and I’ve also learned that truly anything in this world is possible.
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon…
Safe travels, much love, and god bless!
Sadie

I can tell it means so much to you - the showmanship. You guys are up there with the best - true legends in my eyes. Hope you don’t need to pass that torch on just yet - would love to see you guys stick around for a while yet. But when you do eventually have to pass it on, I just know there will never be another group quite like New Kids on the Block. You are THE BEST!!!! Take care.

You know it seems like concerts now adays are very generic. There is no intimacy with them anymore…no more connection to the fans. I know you guys talked about how back in the day towards the end of your first reign
that’s how it became.
I can honestly say you brought it back in a BIG BIG way. I havent yet had my facetime…financial restrictions (and a LOT of self control) are preventing me at the moment. BUT….I have hope. I have hope that I’ll run into you all at the Waffle House. I have hope that I can brush past you at a concert. I have hope that maybe my BF will give in to my begging and buy me the front row tix to the show in July in Houston! Either way I can live vicariously through pictures and other fan experiences. You have made this tour so real.
You have brought us all back to a time in our life when everything was simple. And even if it wasn’t I could go to my room and throw on a NKOTB tape and listen to you tell me how you’d be loving me forever.
You guys are amazing. I can honestly say that I had the most amazing time at the concert in Houston. I only wish I could be there for the cruise too. Keep doing what you do so well. I love you guys! I took that song (I’ll be loving you forever) to heart! And you will ALWAYS have a place in my heart!!
April 15th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I sure hope the flame keeps going. The 60’s 70’s and you guys are the best. So much of todays entertainment is well not the same, generic, no connection. I think that you guys coming back was just what us fans and maybe even yourselves needed. I know for me personally, it has taken my breath away and helps me remember the good things, the old memories cherished and the new ones created. The interaction you guys do with the fans is off the scale, you are unique as I think it is more than just going out there and touring. You helped spark bonds with fans all across the world and I don’t think anyone can ever match that.
THANKS!! You have made my heart smile

I´m a woman which knows always something to say…but your blog is so cute that i have nothing to say!
You guys brighten up my days, i´m feeling like 14 again which no problem in my life, nothing to think about. But i´m a single mother of 2 kids and life isn´t simple anymore!
Thx for given me the simple part of life back again!!!
Hope to see you soon in Germany!!

Joey , Joey , Joey
I now have been to see you 15 times and 15 times you guys have shown me a new experience. You have never disapointed me and neve made me ask why I was a fan. I have brought new people who were not fans who then bought the album and I have brought old fans who are better fans…they had to brush up on the rules. But you guys brogt me something I will never know how to explain. You brought me the joy of friendship not only between me and the band but between me and Becky. Had it not been for the reunion people would not have cared about the old KNIGHT house. Boston Globe would not have called for an interview and it would not have ever been printed. But then I would have never been call about a tour and I would have never met my pahtnah in crime. Thank you for all you have done and all you continue to do fo me and my life.

Joe, Jordan, Jonathan, Danny, Donnie: you guys were so fabulous last night in Victoria!! I was never allowed to go to your concerts back in the day so this was huge for me!!
Thank you for reuniting and going back on tour!!! I loved the energy and the smiles- you were all really great. My two girlfriends and I really scared the little kids sitting beside us- they had obviously never seen ladies in their late twenties go so nuts. Our throats are still sore from screaming out all the lyrics last night- but it was so worth it. Thanks for giving us such a great night and putting on such a great performance. Jordan- you can still hit those high notes so well- we were so impressed (also: nice shirtless bod)!! Donnie- loved your boxers. Jonathan- we had a moment! Danny- you can dance!! and Joey… let’s face it, I shed a tear when you got down on your knees. You’re all still so hot. Thanks again for coming to Canada!!

The torch is very bright in the five of you. Thank you for keeping the light of all those before you alive. There aren’t that many groups out there that can do what you have done for all of us.
Keep the light glowing!!!
Love to you all,
Trixx (T-Dot)
April 15th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
I don’t believe I’m alone in this thought. No matter how long or little you guys choose to grace us with your performances, although it had better be a lifetime full; the flame will always be burning in those of us who took you as our first love. What do you expect; we all grew up together, didn’t we? You were just a little further away than that cute neighbor who lived down the street.
So when you’re 80 years old, sitting on the front porch watching your great grandchildren playing, always remember there is someone who has you in their heart. Thank you for that.
April 15th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
I love that part of the concert; well, I love EVERY part of it! You guys never cease to amaze me. I have seen you in St. Paul and Des Moines, and will be seeing you in Tinley Park this June, and I think often about how lucky we all are that, after all these years, you’ve come back to party with us and make us fall in love with you all over again. I am in awe and so very grateful. All I ask now is that you PLEASE come back to Minnesota!!!! You won’t regret it!
April 15th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Joey….I agree with Tina Y….so no worries…..if we have anything to say about it, you will definitely see the torched passed along!! Is your son taking lessons yet??
Seriously though….the GREAT groups NEVER go out of style and their legacies live on!!! We thank you!
Love ya!

Dang you guys have got me in bits today…(just finished catching up with Donnie’s Tweets and responding to your last blog)
Joe when I watch you perform..(not to leave out the other guys they also have their moments lol). Even when I see a still shot of u on stage I also see great performers of the past. As I mentioned in my last response I spent time watching past performances with my son who is aged eleven and likes to think he is too kl 4 skool. In the end he ‘got it’. There are soo many other Youngas out there being skooled in the way of the Block..Truss the futures safe in our hands
Seriously though you guys carry a flame that burns BRIGHT and that is everlasting. In your own words Joe..energy does’nt die it just changes! You guys are an inspiration, obviously more than you know…
April 15th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
I hope that someday you will……BUT it will be VERY HARD for anyone to take your guys place!!!! Look at the others that came out……not long, not long at all! To me and I’m sure many others you guys are the best there ever was and the best there will EVER be!
Keep doin what you are doin! You do it GRRRRRRREAT!!!!

Joe,
that was deep. I enjoy listening to great music and music that has a special meaning for the fans and the artists. It is something that is not apparent today. Thanks for taking it back. I think the torch ends with you guys though. But I will hope for the best!
April 15th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Its funny you should say that, Joe. I ALWAYS think of the old Motown groups when you do that part of the show. It SO classic! And you do a GREAT job at it. Also remind me of that Smokey Robinson tribute you guys did back in the day! It would be cool to see you guys do a cover of one of those old great songs…like MY GIRL? Who know….I love it all!! THANKS!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Joey,
Regarding the torch being passed-Lord, I hope so. I absolutely adore the music of you guys, The Temps, Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops, New Edition, Bel Biv Devoe, Guy, and sooo many others. I constantly have these cds on rotation in the car-I love them!! I’m only 29, but have always loves these groups. I totally feel ya, and love me some soul music. I love the Motown groups and adore that period of music. I guess that’s part of the reason why I love you guys so much. Y’all pretty much had me when I heard “Didn’t I Blow Your Mind” on the first album. I’ve seen you guys twice since the beginning of the tour, and plan to see you guys again for the summer tour. It would be amazing if New Edition could open up for y’all and then sing with you for Full Service. Total dream come true!! Anyway, love you guys and thanks for doing what you do! Muah!!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
You’re all incredible! Legends in your own, you guys paved the way for such bands as, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, O-Town, Etc…
That’s awesome!!! I Look forward to seeing you for a long time
Absolutely loved your concert last Thursday, BEAUTIFUL <3
Thanks for that!

My grandma would call you an “old soul”. You always have a profound outlook on things. You find this deep meaning to all sorts of things others might take for granted…that’s amazing to me cause, well, I don’t think like that much anymore. LOL! Once my son got to the talking age…I kinda stopped being all deep. LMAO! Taking time to think it all out is an art in itself and I think others will see that and want to carry on the “magic”. If they don’t…well…at least I saw it!
Ok. Enough from me.
Love and Blessings!

Joe,
Thanks again for the blog. Very thoughtful! I assure you that you guys are the template for all others that follow you. However, with this reunion, you guys have now broken the original mold, and reinvented it! How cool is that? May the flame continue to burn!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Joe,
I can say that I think you can def pass the torch along! The only problem I see, is who are you gonna pass it on to? There is no one, no other group that can top you guys! I don’t think any of you realize how many ladies dreams’ you have made come true by having this come-back and the tour and all the goodies that came along with it. I honestly never believed that it would happen, and the fact that it has, and that I FINALLY got to see NKOTB live for the first time in my life, and that I get to see you again, AND get a meet & greet, I can’t tell you what that means to me! I will never, ever be able to thank you for doing this, and I believe, for you guys, that’s it’s all about the fans! That puts you on top! And that’s where you will ALWAYS stay!

I think you guys have done well at carrying the torch-esp 15 years later when you are reaching new fans and still have the original ones following you. You guys care about each of your fans and that shows in your performances, I wouldn’t have it any other way. While we are in the age now of instant everything I would love to spend a few hours with you guys then on the internet or on twitter or anything else. I have dreamed of the day when you guys would get back together and now that you have hope you don’t go away for quite awhile. What’s up JM!
You guys are so hot that the Irvine, CA 5* sold out within 3 minutes.
I am so sad because I tried to get the tickets (logged on 30 minutes before), and I got a message “checking inventory please try again soon” then when I pushed refresh and tried again it said “sold out”. Joe,
I thought 15 years ago, you were gone.I didn’t know what to do with myself, I listened to my cd’s, but it wasn’t the same. I did buy your cd, and thru that I stayed in tune with you. When you guys said you were coming back, it was the most exciting news! I think that the fact that you have returned to all of us ( I mean the millions of fans) that is shows your flame will burn forever.
I am trying to start my 6 year old on becoming a new kids fan, trying to start a new generation. You will never go away, you will never be a memory, you will forever be in our hearts. Like I told my husband, I loved Joe before I knew you, so actually you are second….Joe comes first. He is a bit jealous…but I have new kids on the brain now..and it isn’t going anywhere…
April 16th, 2009 at 5:30 am
I can’t agree with you more Joe. It’s just not the same. You guys definitely bring something special to the stage. Please continue to make the music. Love you lots….Anne
April 16th, 2009 at 5:55 am
I think you’ll see it be passed on in due time. Something very magical has been placed on you guys. I have been to 5 shows and I get goosebumps everytime when I see you guys come up on the platform. I am seeing many more shows and it never gets old. You guys have something special that is very rare in the industry and even if the torch isn’t passed on, you shouldn’t be ashamed at all. Please continue making the good music you all do and perform from your hearts like you’ve been doing. You guys are the best!! I will be forever grateful to you all from 20 years ago, to present day and beyond. We will never see your flame go out, NEVER!! xoxoxo Toni B.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:01 am
We’d all love to say absolutely……it can be passed on. Truth is it is instant gratification for everything these days. That being said, the future is completely dependent on the present. Nothing is set in stone so if your heart is really in in, and that seems obvious, than the potential for it to be carried over into our children is always there. Be genuine, teach love and respect for the art and the rest will fall in place. It’s so easy to see it in your eyes when you perform that you love what you do and it’s not just to get a reaction…..hold on to that…it makes you great and irresistible!
All my love,
Lisa

Hi Joey,
I am not that much into the Motown sound, but I absolutely agree that the bands you mentioned are really legends. They managed to be a part of the music industry for such a long time and mean so much to so many people, which is definitely a great success.
Talking about having been around for a long time: It´s good to see you guys back! Now that meanwhile the internet was introduced (…), it´s a good opportunity to thank you for helping me to get through puberty…
See ya,
Conny, Germany

Hey JM-
I don’t know what to say to you other than, thank you. The truth is that your style and talent is what gets your fans off. I can remember being young and being entertained… now (sadly) older and wiser I firmly believe that you do have a gift. This gift is shared with millions of fans, some new fans and some fans for decades.
I think that this is just the beginning: Broadway, movies and TV are around the corner. Break the glass ceiling Joe… I look forward to meeting you in St. Louis.
Thank you again,
Col

Hey Joe,
That is why we love you guys so much. Thank you for all you put into your performances and music, you truly are inspirational.
You make a really good point. I wonder if the torch will go on, and one can only wonder. I think you guys are doing a good job of contributing to the tradition/legends of the show. One would think after all this time, that you guys would be worn down or lose your touch, but you guys look as good as new. Even better than when we were young.
Later, Lea

Let me just say I AM FURIOUS! I hope to GOD somebody from New Kids staff or the actual guys read this reply! First of all, I ALWAYS miss out on the VIP tickets. I checked ebay to see if I could find somebody that maybe wanted to go but then decided they couldn’t afford it! Well I certainly found somebody! Somebody that wanted 1500.00 dollars for two vip tickets! Better yet, I hope that person reads this by some chance! How dare you! I HOPE YOU DO NOT GET A PENNY!!!!!! Now, enough of that, I love you guys! Nashville was sooo much fun! You guys are a slice of my life and I thank you for that! It was and is fun! I am having a blast! Hope to see you guys again!

April 16th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Wow he really got me thinking about all the music from back when. And how my parents and grandparents say that. I just have to wonder if he is right. And will it fizzle. There is so much crap out there it is almost like mothing is as good as it used to be any longer. Not to say that there is not tallent out there. Of corse there is, but it is all going buy so fast you blink and it can be gone. I just know that these guys are special. Just like the Jackson five was back when. And all those legends. NKOTB is a legend in there own right. Knowone will ever forget them. Dispite if they like them or not, everyone knows about them. They are legends. And I am lucky to be living and seeing history in the making with these guys. To be a part of NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK! I have to say makes me proud. AND HONORED as well. Joe I salute you and all of the guys you work with. Keep taking it in, don’t forget you are a part of showbizz that will never die in our hearts. We love you so much. GOD BLESS NKOTB!!!!
April 16th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Hey Joey,
I haven’t been to a concert for any of the groups you just mentioned, but I have seen performances these groups did. It is amazing the showmanship and how different things are now. One of my fave parts of the last two shows have been where you all are lined up with the mike stands and your singing and dancing in unison. I have to say that in my opinion you guys are part of that small group of groups. You all give us your best every day and it’s all we can ask for. We try to give us our best everyday too. I’m so happy that I am able to be part of everything this time!! My first NK concert was last October. I have been to one since and have tickets for one more. You guys put on an amazing show and I wouldn’t miss this for much else (probably just my kids could kee me from coming to see you guys). You are all amazing and I am proud to call myself a Blockhead and part of the NKOTB Army!!
All my love!!

Hi. I dont know if you actually read these, but here it goes. I dont know if you remember, but I saw you at a very popular mall recently. You were with your family. I know who you were, but you probably had people recognize you all day. At the end of the day, my family ran into you by American Girl and all I wanted to do was tell you that i was so excited to see you in person, but I couldn’t. That was not the time and place for all of that. I will say that my daughter had to tell everyone in her class that her doll was a hit! I wanted to ask you for an autograph or pic, but I chickened out. Anyway, it was such a rush to see you in person. When I finally explained who you were to my kids, they were shocked!! They didn’t believe me at first so I showed them a CD. For the next four days, all they talked about was you. Thank you for ending my family’s spring break on such a high note! I will remember that moment forever!

April 17th, 2009 at 1:40 am
Well, you all definately still got it that’s for sure. It was 17 years ago that I last saw your concert in Amsterdam and almost 10 years (is it?) that I bought your album “Stay the same” (when on vacation in Indonesia because we did not have it here in The Netherlands. I actually thought I had gotten older, grown up and over you. Then my friend and I went to the concert in Amsterdam and I felt like a teenager again (I do that more often though ;o). The show was fantastic! It brought back memories and got me all fluttery. Haha, my husband thinks I am going mad, dancing around the room with my 1 year old daughter who’s first English word is “Kiss it” from mummy’s favourite song Twisted.. . I would hate to say that I am a groupie but I guess I have to say you guys have me hooked again. Looking at all these replies you receive I am not the only one who would like to carry that torch for you guys. You’ve done it again and I can’t wait to see you at the next concert!

It will pass on. When yall left, the flame didn’t burn out, it was still lit, but hiding under the ashes. We NEVER forgot yall. You were ALWAYS in our hearts. A lot of us would have our moments when we went back in time with our cassette tapes, VHS tapes, things that we held on to over the years, wishing that we could have those days back. When the news broke, “NKOTB REUNION!” That flame rose from the ashes with unbelievable sparks to prove that the fire that burned for yall 20 years ago, still burns today. As I said, the flame never dies, it just hides and waits for the right time to spark back up. You guys have mentioned that when we say thank you, that yall are shocked, and say “No, Thank you!” I don’t think you guys actually get how we feel about yall. Yall instilled some pretty strong values in us as preteens/teens, and those values still hold strong today. We looked up to yall and in all honesty, we still do. This whole reunion has changed many or our lives, mine being one of them. I’m the happiest I have ever been. I smile now when I wake up at 6am to get my kids dressed, fed and off to school, when before, it was more like, “Oh shit, another day!” Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids more than life it’s self, but the same old routine gets old after a while. Since the reunion, things have changed,.. and, Change Is Good!… but back to the flame, it will pass on, believe that. And when it does, it will come full circle all over again.
April 17th, 2009 at 10:53 am
I don’t think you guys ever got enough credit for being a part of that. The classic performances of Didn’t I Blow Your Mind are a perfect tribute to the ones who came before you. Your showmanship today is no surprise–you are all adults who have had plenty of time to soak up all those influences… but the old performances when you were just kids? That really says it all. That shows the pure talent. And you are influencing artists today, including me. The flame will not go out. We’ll make sure of it.
April 17th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
… holaaaaa …. please come to chile we want to see lots of people here would be a great happiness …. I LOVE NKOTB!
April 17th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Hi there Joe! It was so great to meet you again in Fresno last night. I think you should keep honoring those historical moments with your solo segments. This is something you have to do to keep that fire lit. You’re right maybe a lot of artists are NOT doing it anymore but if you keep doing it the legendary ( ) will live on. LONG LIVE THE BLOCK. VIVA The Block.
My girl Ali and I were the ones wearing the white visors with “Viva The Block” last night in Fresno and the BTBTB dog tags which I asked you to guess what it meant. (You’re funny! haha) Also, hope you guys enjoy those personalized Adidas towels we gave you. We figured we’d keep the theme going by wearing those army green Adidas track jackets that you Jordan and Danny liked.
See you in Irvine, Luv Brandie (BTBTB “Brought Together By the Block”, Fresno Adidas Girl.

Dear Joe: You are deep and sensitive….a true artist! You have made history already . We were there with you when you took the torch and will be there when the time comes to pass it on. Music history always goes on and on and your names are written there forever.
we’ve been very fortunate witness of your history. We are so proud of you and what you have done and continue do.

Joe Mac…..Man I’m so happy that you are blogging more now! You guys will be able to pass the torch along definitely..In my opinion you guys have already passed a torch along as far as the other groups who came after you like N’Sync and Backstreet Boys as well as many others(Even if they won’t admit it)
So I know you can pass the torch along as far as slow jams just like the legends that came before you…the very first song I loved by you guys was a slow song….Joey you are just so sensitive and sweet with your sharing and I must say….It keeps me wanting more

Jo Jo,
The friendship story of you and the rest of the guys is one to be treasured. How amazing it must be to be truly blessed to do this with yet again with the rest of your four friends. In this lifetime some of us will never be able to experience such a friendship story like this one. No group today can ever say or experience what you guys have, the genuine makings of true friendship, modesty and genuine music making. May you and the rest of the guys continue to make your mark in music and continue to make beautiful music together and share in this journey you are so blessed to have again. See you in June in Toronto!

The class acts live and are referenced for a long time. New Kids on the Block is successful, yet again, because you are a class act. You are a tough act to follow. This is why it is so easy to fall back into your music again because it reaches across time and space and it continues to be meanigful. Thank you Joe, Jon, Jordan, Danny and Donnie for coming back. I look forward to the summer!!!
April 20th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Your flame will never go out. Just don’t give up. I love you guys. Keep the torch for now and when your ready you can pass it on. But keep it coming we love it. Your new song “5 bros. & a million sisters” is great. Love you!

What a beautiful, insightful message, Joe! I agree that era was something to
be remembered and thought of forever. I believe what you all have done and
continue to do is reminiscent of that era. I have agreed for years that the
new school is losing their touch. What will it take to bring some of the old
school forward. Music and performing must start first in the mind (as a
thought and idea) and released from the heart. How can it possibly be done
genuine in any other way??? I have had the pleasure of seeing all of you
first when I was 11 yrs of age. When you all took a break, I was a teenager,
but I missed you all like crazy. I have had the pleasure of seeing you all
in October in Phoenix, in April in Hollywood. I will be at Danny’s b-day
bash, on the cruise, and I am hoping at the Phoenix concert in July. My goal
is to meet you all in person, express my gratitude for your commitments, and
to share with you how you have influenced my life positively. The Meet and
greets sold out for the July Phoenix concert, but I am trying my best to win
some. I would like to say that I appreciate the old school way. I hope to
remind you all that there is nothing like the old school (as Tupac once said
in a song). It is absolutely the truth. Joe, I want to apologize to you.
When I seen you from behind, I think I accidentally called you Jordan at the
House of Blues. I know who each of you are by name. I was excited and like
a mama confuses the names of her children sometimes, I did the same to you.
You each stand for your own name. So sorry again.
Be Blessed as you already are,
Sylvia (Silvergold7)
April 21st, 2009 at 7:38 am
Joe you are sweet kind and loving. To remember all of those before you shows everyone that you are really here for more than just one thing. It make me emotional to see all of you write things like this because all of you really care. Therefore the torch will never go out on you guys, just like before it may have been lying in wait but never burned out. The second time around seems to be more amazing than the first and you are all in control which is even better. You will see the torch be passed when the time is right! See you in Tinley Park, IL June 26th. I’m hoping to meet you guys this time it my third concert since September.I’m LOVING THIS.
April 21st, 2009 at 7:46 am

You guys have brought something back into my life that I was missing that Music real music.I cry also because I could not be happier for the 5 of you to be doing this again has be a wonderful experience I’m so happy to be able to join the ride by attending some of you shows!!!!

I’m not sure where to post this, but I need to know - which Boston sign did you get the “K” from in “NKOTB” (I see the “N” is written in the same form as a Bruins, the O is the Celtics logo, the “T” is from the “T” sign and the “B” is from the Red Sox. But, I can’t figure out where the K is from. Can anyone answer my question? Thanks!!

You know it’s funny you would mention all those groups
(The Temptations,New Edition,etc..)the ones I listen to,the ones my parents listened to & when I watched you all in Columbus,
I saw the same fire with those groups when I see you preform:)
The torch continues with The Block!!!

Hi Joey,
I grew up with the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, The Jackson Five, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, and many more in my household. Growing up in an Italian Family, Sinatra and Prima were always on the record player (back in the day) and are still on the CD player in my parent’s house as well as mine.
I would like to tell you that you are a true legend and are the most talented (sorry guys). You are my Sinatra and as you know, those are big shoes to fill. In my eyes, you have filled them with your talent and charisma. You are my legend so please don’t ever stop singing and dancing!
You are LEGENDARY!
Hugs from Diane

I’m glad there are still musicians out there who still want to carry out the classy showmanship of the past greats. I also think there needs to be more songs about the true meaning of Life. I haven’t listened to you guys since I was in high school, but I remember the possitive songs you sang which I loved; and so I hope this time around, it’s the same possitive attitude. I’m glad you guys are back!! Maybe I’ll get to see you guys in concert sometime. Keep smiling and encouraging people wherever you go!
