HEY JON,

I CHOSE OBAMA...MY ENTIRE FAMILY CHOSE OBAMA.
WE HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR McCAIN. HE'S A HERO.

TO ME OBAMA REPRESENTS HOPE AND CHANGE WHICH
THE COUNTRY DESPERATELY NEEDS AT THIS MOMENT.
HE'S SO INTELLIGENT, SO WISE AND WELL GROUNDED
HIS FAMILY IS PROOF OF THAT.

I WAS SO TIRED BUT STAYED UP LATE
WAITING TO KNOW HE HAD WON.
I WANTED TO HEAR IT LIVE AS THEY
FINALLY ANNOUNCED IT.
THAT WAS A GREAT NIGHT!
SO GLAD YOU WENT OUT OF YOUR WAY TO VOTE.
YOU MAKE ME PROUD.
I THINK OPRAH WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE YOU
ON HER SHOW THAT DAY OF THE ELECTIONS...

MY LOVE ALWAYS,
MAYRA

Jon,

Although I voted for McCain, I hope that Obama can prove to me, and other McCain supporters, that he was the right choice. Anyway, I am and always will be a New Kids On The Block fan.

Jon:

I am reading some of these comments and wow is the word that comes to mind. I joined the "community" website and started receiving messages from strange people in foreign countries... not my thing. I had to close that account immediately.

I just want you to know that you have always been my favorite NKOTB. I am crazy about you and always will be.

I do not believe that you guys are really this accessible, just call me the skeptic. I feel like a loser sending messages through this blog, also... not my thing. Yet, here I am... Go figure!

I hope you make a stop in Nashville.

OK POLITICS ASIDE - I SAW YOUR CONCERT IN CHARLOTTE - AND I HAVE TO SAY I WAS A LITTLE UPSET. THE SHOW ITSELF AS A WHOLE WAS AMAAAAZING - BUT THE OMAGE PART - WHERE YOU ALL PAID TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN LOVED ONES - I WAS DISHEARTENED TO SEE - OR NOT SEE - JEFFREY FURST'S PICTURE SINCE HE PAS LAST YEAR... HE WAS THE FINANCIAL BACKING FOR YOUR GROUP YEARS AGO... AND AN OVER-ALL NICE GUY. HE WAS MY UNCLES BEST FRIEND... THAT'S PROBABLY THE ONLY REASON I KNOW THIS... HERE'S AN ARTICLE I FOUND ONLINE... THOUGHT YOU MAY WANT TO READ IT.

Brookline -
Jeffrey D. Furst of Coral Gables, Fla., formerly of Brookline and Newton, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at his home. He was 62.

Born in Cambridge, he was a son of Priscilla Davis Furst and Melvin Furst of Longboat Key, Fla., formerly of Newton. He grew up in Newton, attended John Ward School, Windsor Mountain Academy in the Berkshires and the Boston Conservatory of Music.

At a young age, he studied with Madame Margaret Chaloff, a piano teacher in the Boston area who mentored many jazz artists. In 1968, Mr. Furst founded the group Fourth Stream, an early avant-garde jazz quartet. They recorded an album that was responsible for Mr. Furst being named one of the top 10 jazz pianists in the country by the 1968 Downbeat Magazine Reader’s Poll.

The Fourth Stream began touring the country, and in the winter of 1968 was the featured act at the Jazz Workshop in Boston. His complex avant-garde compositions were noticed by Darius Brubeck and his father, Dave Brubeck, and were included in their performances.

Mr. Furst’s performing career ended in 1975, when anxiety on stage prevented his performing in public. He then set out to educate young artists and founded the Contemporary School of Music in Brookline’s Cleveland Circle. There, national artists starting their careers, such as Bonnie Raitt and James Montgomery, taught young musicians. The school was in operation for 15 years, and from there, Mr. Furst built the first rehearsal studios in Boston. In those studios, the Boston rock band The Cars developed their successful style, along with numerous musicians who gained national attention.

His entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to start a used piano business, a moving company and a limousine service. In 1981, he opened the Empire Deli on Brookline Avenue in Boston, and soon after started a Comedy Club at that location where young local talent such as Bobcat Goldwaithe and Steven Wright, as well as veteran Henny Youngman, performed.

Mr. Furst was instrumental in early promotion and financial backing of the group New Kids on the Block.

He leaves four children, Alexander Furst, Danielle Lee and her husband, Oliver, J.D. Furst and Eliza Furst; his parents; three brothers, Ronald Furst and his wife, Diane Taylor, of Kittery, Maine, Gary Furst and his wife, Ethel, of Newton, and John Furst and his wife, Amy Cody, of Newton.

His funeral service was held Thursday, Nov.15, at Newton Cemetery Chapel.

Burial was private.
Remembrances may be made to Jewish Family and Children’s Service, 1430 Main St., Waltham, MA 02451.

Arrangements were made by Brezniak-Rodman Funeral Home of Newton.

To all the McCain fans I voted for Obama so I'm glad he won, however I think McCain is an intelligent man. He conceded graciously and I was impressed by that. I was on You tube and watching my favorite video "Loving you forever" and there was a very hate filled message calling our New Kids gay and "nig" lovers. We have to be adults. It's ridiculous to waste our time on Earth calling each other names. Please love each other. We are all in this together.
love always

Voting, a wonderful privledge, and a sign of freedom. I say that no matter who you voted for, just vote. It was such a tough election this time around. I had been watching the debates, and really keeping track of things. Amercia has made history, with the first African American, which is a sign, that in Amercia, anything is possible, and good change is on the way.

I am so glad to see there is one other NKOTB fan out there that voted for Mccain, ha! I am now trying to be positive and hope for the best. I am excited that this country broke down barriers and we have an African American president, however I am a born-again Christian and have a lot of problems with some of the liberal issues. However, I love everyone and am praying and determined to be positive. Jon, thanks for taking the time to vote. Donnie, if you voted for Mccain, alright!!!!! It is great you guys realize that is what makes American so great, we can all feel the love, even if we differ in our opinions!!!! :)

Hi jon,

I'm from Berlin and for me it was an exciting time and couldn't await to see barack obama win. I knew, he would win. He got the power and the strength to change.I really mean what I say. I hate wars and fights. Why can't people live in peace and respect and tolerance for each other???

There is a song on my mind and it goes: this is a very serious message so all of you, please listen. There are some people, living in this world, they have no food to eat, they have no place to go ......
I'm loving it...

the block is the best album ever. I love summer time, click, click, click, stare at you, put it on my tab, grown man. How was it working with the ladies.

I just got the best of cd with all your hits in 1996 for easter, cause I was a baby when you all started singing. Obviously, I'm the youngest fan with my 25 years. but I'm loving your music.

When I was eleven, the year nkotb parted, I had so many posters in my room, and my fav was joey. oh my god, this is a long time.

so, I said enough, well good luck on your tour and

lol, hugs and kisses... ;)

You voted and now you soooooooooooooooo know it counted if you stuck with your commented decision!

I see the tour dates just dissapearring on the list and y goodness it reminds me you guys are working so hard, and hopefully it sure is paying off in imeasurable awards.

So today I woke in some pain with my joints wailing like a tormented babeh, I think it could be dehydration or so but a bit scared, I have a non-existent pain threshold and often have some ailment or another pah..

But I recalled a funny thing, I had what I believe my first ever NKOTB dream, where it was announced on TV that you had just recieved into the world your first son that you and partner had named...wait for it....

NATHAN!!!

lollllllllll, do I get marks for my imagination or like a free NKOTB gift ha ha (I'm actually serious there???!!!???)

Of course starting small in dream world means they can improve as hoping to make one of your concerts draws closer :D

Happy performing and great vibes with a new president that may change things as is useful for you and all...

I guess the unity of some blockheads has been broken by the differences of opinion over the election. I'm proud Texas voted Republican- I worry about the future of our great country, but look forward to seeing what President-elect Obama will do for us (Republicans- we gotta stay positive!!). And if I don't like it, 2012 is only 4 years away!

What makes me laugh is some of the responses about the New Kids' political views. First, unless the election changed the constitution, we all have the right to free speech. And second, HELLO?!?! The New Kids are from BOSTON, where Democrats and Kennedys grow on trees!!! HA!

Had a BLAST at the Dallas concert... I'm enjoying reading these blogs!! Keep 'em up, everyone!!!

What a country!!! God Bless America!!! and Hook 'em Horns!

Hello!

I am also happy that Obama won the election. I was raised a Democrat in the South which is the equivalent of having a third eye...

I am absolutely crazy about you! My friends and I came to the ATL show and a Coca-Cola representative there gave me tickets to the Charlotte concert. We did not hesitate to drive the extra 3 hours. We scored an awesome suite for 0.00 (connections) and had a blast. We were right beside the piano, and I have some great pics (thank you). I wish you had other dates in the "South".

I know you must be tired and anxious to get back to work, but I believe you guys could pull another tour successfully in 2009! I also hope there is more music from NKOTB.

I know we did not meet, but I do hope our paths cross eventually.

Wishing you much happiness and success in all of your ventures.

Warmest Regards, Amy :)

Thanks for mentioning the Philly concert, Jonathan. I was there last night and you guys were absolutely awesome. I can't tell you how much this reunion has meant to me, especially the tour. My fiance was killed on April 30th, and we were due to get married on October 18th. So you guys gave me something to look forward to while I anticipated the concert and last night you guys gave me a reason to smile, dance and be happy again. For a few hours, I was a kid again without any worries, without any problems, without any pain. (I am in actual physical pain today though, I am not 10 anymore all that dancing, standing, jumping, screaming puts a toll on you the next morning now that we are older!) So I can't thank you enough for last night, for the reunion, for the album, for just giving me something to smile about again. You guys are amazing and always have been. Thank you! COME BACK TO PHILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jonathan, sorry I haven't replied earlier but I've had more important things on my mind- my dog Nitro was put to sleep on 28/10 due to alot of medical conditions, we both knew it was time to go.

Anyway glad that you voted for the right person, as an Aussie I couldn't vote in the election but I wanted Obama to win(let's hope he doesn't continue with the "wars' that W started.

Wish we didn't have to vote here in Australia. BTW When is Australia getting face time and the famous Jonathan cuddles?

I JUST HAVE TO SAY THAT TWO
AMAZING THINGS HAVE HAPPENED
IN THE LAST 6 WEEKS. 1st I got a chance
to see you grown and sexy Mothafubs twice
in the month of October and it was OFF THE
CHAIN! I couldn’t have imagined that NKOTB
would have pleasured me and my fellow concert
mates the way that you did. You guys held it
down and represented like no other. I know you
would have never thought that you'd have the response that
you guys got when NKOTB got back together to do this
(Thanks DONNIE AKA D DUB or BKA the Cheese)
I and your fans appreciate the hustle for THE BLOCK.
You totally deserve 110 of the love,
support and respect from your fans of the past and present.
It's a really GOOD LOOK when 5 white guys can
bring a black girl to tears, even after the fact.
I pray, wish, hope and will pay the price for NKOTB's
return to the City of Chicago next year. The second most
amazing thing is we finally got a Black Elected
President (Obama “The Lock” Babaaaay)
in the White House. I’ve said in my life that
I wouldn’t live to see a moment like this actually come to past.
But dammit we as a people have done it.
This has been a hard 6 weeks for this woman,
but it has been extremely rewarding. New Kids thanks
for the memories and please make more....
and MY people… MY people… MY people thanks
for the change we needed the most.

Much love, much peace and much more...

Thanks for encouraging us to vote Jon! I remembered to cast mine :)

Now that Obama has won there seem to be so much more hope for the future in this country. There also seems to be many people ready to take action. I think that's Obama's real value--that he knows how to inspire so many people.

I also want to say thank you to all of you for getting back together. I was a fan the first time around and I still am today. I love listening to your music. "Single" was playing in my head constantly for about 3 weeks. I love the happy whirlwind you all create around you. Thank you for exposing yourself to all the madness again :) You seem to be relatively down-to-earth and successful at the same time.

Some of the stuff I read on this site and the community site makes me want to tell you about something I am doing. Your having trouble sleeping, how Jordan overcame his fear of singing solo with the help of meditation, even Donnie constantly saying, "Get your mind right!" makes me think, "I must tell them about Brain Wave Vibration!" But I don't really know how. The community site makes my head swirl and you guys very rightly guard your well-deserved privacy.

So I decided to do it here. Brain Wave Vibration is a kind of moving meditation actually. It's kind of funny and fun at the same time. It's based on the idea that if you take some time to tap into your body's natural rhythms, you will feel more clear, more relaxed, less emotional, more centered, and even heal a whole host of things. I do it almost every day, especially when I'm feeling a little "off".

All you really have to do is shake--your body, your head. We often use drumming music to practice it. You should also focus on your brain stem, which you can imagine being near the base of your skull. Sometimes I just focus on relaxing whatever is tense in my body, or on a particular goal I have.

By using your body, it's a lot easier than meditating by just trying to focus your mind. Even though it gets better with practice, anyone can do it from the first try because it's so simple. It's really about just letting yourself be free without any inhibitions. Because it's hard to describe in words, I'm putting a link to a video on the website (that's actually me shaking in the video): http://www.brainwavevibration.com/whatIsBWV/howToPractice.aspx

It really does put your mind right because the vibrations kind of reset your brain. I've found that we're naturally happy when we let go of a lot of the junk we carry around. Beyond the happy, happy, joy, joy stuff, I've also gathered stories about people who have helped their high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, partial facial paralysis, even Rett syndrome--a lot of muscle and hormone stuff actually.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are having fun. Enjoy the rest of your tour! And have a happy birthday Jon!

Love, Michela

Nearly 48 hours later, I still can't stop grinning... I went to a show last night in downtown Orlando and that seems to be the general consensus.

Huh, who knew hope would feel this amazing. :)

Jon,

Philadelphia ROCKED last night! It was so amazing to celebrate our country's victory at the same time that my friends and I were celebrating your reunion. I loved being able to wear my Obama shirt with pride! Thank you for calling on all of us to participate and make our voices heard in such an important election. Yes we can!

Peace & Love,

Hi Jonathan!

I just read, that Obama, before announcing his presidential candidacy, he began a well-publicized effort to quit smoking. How about you do the same? PLEASE! I mean, quit smoking, you don't need to publicize if you don't want to : )

It's nice to know that the rest of the country feels the same way. That they would like to be able to experience change and we will be able to now. It is about 8 years too late but the time finally came.

By the way, I totally agree on the importance of voting. It's a privilege, a gift, being able to vote. To think about what you want or what you think is important and then have the opportunity to help make it happen. I also agree with Mascha (at least I think that was her name) that you don't get to critisize (how do you write that? It all looks so weird, however I write it) your leaders, if you didn't take the opportunity to help choose them. You want to critisize your leaders? You should have voted!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!
Yesterday morning, still not entirely awake, I heard my husband say: "Hey, guess what?", not at all enthousiasticly.
I feared the worst and asked: "McCain?"
"Yeah..."
Then he went silent for a few long seconds and then he said with a broad smile: "He lost!"
Aaaarggghhhh :D

I feel like Nelson Mandela is elected president again. Times ten.

People have been talking about the Bradley-effect, but forget the Bradley-effect. This is the Obama-effect!

So this is my second note for you...this is kind of addicting! I did not vote the same way that you did, however, I am ready and excited to get behind our new President. I am still hoping that you guys will decide your reunion tour would not be complete without a stop in Cincinnati!! I really want to go to a concert SOOO bad! I have watched some youtube clips and it looks AMAZING! I really would love to see your infamous "butt dance" in person!! Thanks for taking the time to answer the q&a and blog your thoughts.

This is my third time in my life voting for president and FINALLY I am crying with JOY, not diappointment. I am really disappointed, though, that Proposition 8 (to change California's constitution to say that marriage is only between a man and a woman, invalidating the current right to gay marriage) actually passed. =( I read that Joey stated he was also supporter of equality in the right to marriage, which is awesome (if it's true). I wonder what you're take on this is. We had lots of interesting/crazy propositions to vote on on top of the presidential candidates! So Californians had a lot at stake when we voted this time! Glad I got the chance to participate!
