Hey All,
This blog is mostly to the LA/West Coast fans but, since a lot of you are so CRAAAAAAAZZZZZYYYYYY and are coming to many shows around the country, I figured I better write this to all of you….
The LA Clippers have asked us to switch out our second Staples show to The Nokia Theater across the street. Same date. Same night. Same time. Pretty much the same amount of seats. Same parking structures. So no big deal…. Right?
Or is it…..?
Now being Celtics fans we are not in the business of helping out other NBA teams… But since the Celtics won the Championship… We do feel a bit of pity for the rest of the NBA.
That said…. we have agreed to let them have the date.
The negative…..?
Can’t see any.
The positive….?
The Nokia Theater is a much more intimate venue for us to play in for the final stop on our US part of the tour. This will give us a chance to finish in an environment that is much closer to all of you!!!!!!
In fact… It is more FACE TIME friendly!!!!!
And you know how I feel about face time!!!!!!!!
Either way….
Nobody can stop the party that is gonna reign down on LA on Thanksgiving eve… no matter if we gotta play in a high school gym!!!
It is gonna be OUR night TOGETHER!!!

I am not gonna get any sleep on this tour….

I’m coming to you too, Donnie!! Always love hearing from you! I am not at all disappointed about the venue change. The more intimate, the better. It’s great that you’re being such a good sport about helpin out the Clippers. Never expected any less.

This is nothing to do with your blog, but I just found out about your Sept. 1 Today Show appearance, and since that’s only about 30 miles away from me, I think I’ll have to hop on a train and come down for it! Donnie, every time you blog you put an enormous grin on my face! I don’t live in LA, nor am I going to the concert (tempted as I, I’m holding out for European dates!), but I’m loving your take on having to move venues

I know what you mean about pity…That’s how we New York Giant fans feel about the rest of the NFL! 18 wins, and one GIANT loss, poor Patriots! lol…That being said, looking forward to seeing you on the East Coast in September! OMG!!! I LOVE your blogs and this one has to be my favorite BY FAR!!
Even though I was worried about how our tickets would be honored at Nokia…I’ve still been a little giddy because I was there for a show last year and LOVED it. The closest that those in wheelchairs can get is abut 40 rows back but it doesn’t feel that far.
Originally, I was only going to do VIP for 10/8 but I just couldn’t resist getting a VIP for 11/26. I bought it just hours before the venue change was announced!! So, you might get sick of seeing me but that’s a risk I’ll take. Can never get enough of FACE TIME with you!! I was starting to wonder if you ever regretted saying that but, judging by this entry, you are still enjoying it as much as ever :). I can’t help but smile THE biggest smile when you say that you are coming for us!! I think its safe to say that we’ll all meet you in the middle ;).
Wow, this comment got long! Your entry just made me sooo happy this morning!! I hope that Minneapolis is going great so far!!
Oh and your fans aren’t craaaazzzyy….we’re DEDICATED! Right, all??

You’re a man first and for me, I feel you are showing that to us. I mean, without ‘knowing’ you, I can tell you are a good person. While we may never get to know you on a personal level, it is still so amazing to get that glimpse of who you are–I’d rather have that little than none at all.
Thank you for coming back. The closer the concert gets, the sappier I’m getting. Gee, I feel like I’m having a family reunion with bros/sis I haven’t seen in years. Lol. I wish I could be at that concert. I don’t have the money to travel all around the country and see all ya’lls concerts (even though I want to). I’m so excited that ya’ll are coming to MN. I hope ya’ll have fun at the Mall of America. I was planning on going but it ends up that I have to work. So all of you other fans that are going, take care of our guys for me. Give them an awesome MN welcome and super long “MN goodbye.” To those of ya’ll who don’t know what the “MN goodbye” is, it’s when you start saying goodbye and you are about to leave and you actually end up not leaving for like another hour or so (sometimes even longer). I can’t wait for the Chicago and Minneapolis show guys. I’m sure they will be amazing. I hope ya’ll have a huge turn out at MOA tomorrow. Have a safe trip. Love ya’ll, loyal to the very end.
And on a side note. Angeleyes (Angel) I”m very sorry about your dad passing away. I’ll be praying for you and your family.

I’m only able to attend one concert but it will be my first and I am looking forward to it. I have been a fan since I was 12 but mom wouldn’t pay for me to go as a teenager. You keep saying that you want to meet us face to face but I still haven’t heard the explanation why your aren’t coming to Winnipeg on your tour. I am very hurt and upset that you guys overlooked us. Manitobans have been very supportive and loving with you since the late 80’s, so why are we not worthy to see your live show? We deserve it just as much as Ontario, B.C., and Alberta. I’m trying my best not to be upset about this, but so far I haven’t heard a good reason why you COULDN’T do a show here. If there IS a good reason I’d like to hear it, please.

Oh, and what’s upppppp with the delay on your blogs??? I check first thing in the morning (yeah, I’m enthusiastic), then I check around lunch (okay, I’m a little fixated), then I check in the evening and BOOM! there’s a blog that says it was posted at 9 a.m. and already has like 180 comments.

Cheryl and I can’t wait for Sept 30 in CT. We have the 5* VIP and a room at the casino so we can focus on the face time. Ya’ll should come and hang after the show. It could be a hoot!!!
Anyway, I am so thrilled that you all waited for the music to be the reason to come together. We (the fans) knew you guys were the real thing. Now it’s time to educated the non-believers.
You are all special and the group is what it is because of what each of you bring to it. Even though Jonathan has always been my guy, I have always recognized that you are truly the heart of NKOTB. I’m glad that you protected the group from all the vultures that only wanted to profit from you and take advantage of our love for you guys.

Being from the East Coast, I am not, as of now attending the LA concert, but I would really love to after reading this blog. I am one of those CRAAAAAAAZZZZZYYYYYY people though so I wouldn’t count it out. P.S. I agree that intimate is better. I was at the last show in 1994 in St Louis and it kinda sounds like that. All I remember is that the stage was in the middle and the seats seemed really close all around it and I was jealous that I wasn’t in teh first row. But it was up close and personal too and I loved that!!

Hearing about this more intimate venue, I would love more than anything to be able to go to that LA show…! Sadly, being on the other side of the continent and having the summer from hell.. that won’t be possible this time around (I’m still holding out that this tour won’t be your last!), but I’m comforted by your excitement and openness to so much ‘face time’ with us throughout the tour.
Please tell me you’ll be.. ‘around’ in Toronto.
If I don’t get any sleep that weekend either, I’m perfectly okay with that! I have 5* VIP for Sept. 21st, but beyond that I would love to just.. have coffee with you guys, or treat you to dinner, or a beer. As silly as that may sound. Spending TIME with you all would be.. just indescribable and the idea is such a motivating force for me right now. This comeback has been… a godsend this year. And every time you or one of the other guys post, you all sound so excited and interested and happy. You know how to put a smile on a girl’s face, that’s for sure. And your timing is… rather amazing actually. You seem to post on days when I truly need to smile. I know I basically say this every time, but you guys really know how to make us feel so incredibly special.
September can’t come soon enough… and yet I don’t want to rush it because I know I’ll be sad when it’s time to come home! I’ll just have to hold onto that hope of more to come after The Block. I don’t want this to end!!

Donnie, Im soooooooooo excited about the new cd thats coming out!!! Im sure I will be one of the first people to get one!! I saw the list of songs that will be on the album…and the names just sound so kewl! I printed them out and now there on my wall… I knew you were an actor, but I didnt know you that much at the time (im a little young) …and I love all the saw movies and I watched the 2nd one and the 4th one over again and I freaked out because I finally understood who you were!!! my mom (ur #1 fan) got me hooked on nkotb! AND NOW YOU GUYS ARE THE ONLY THING I LISTEN TO!! me and my mom went on a mad search for all your old cds…and we got every1 now! (including joey m. and jordan k. cds) my moms got old tshirts and buttons that me and her are gonna wear to your concet on charlotte!!! I’ve met everyone else but always wanted to meet you so much because you’ve always been so great with my friends & others I’ve read about. It’s like being with old friends. I’ve been living in Jerusalem for the last 4+ years and I’ll be stateside come December 15. I’m only sorry it seems I’ll miss you guys.
Working in relief and development and church work in the West Bank, I can always use an escape. I’ve been following your solo stuff and could not believe you were reuniting. Suddenly I’m 14 again. I’ve been having major nostalgia, watching old video clips and pulling out all my old tapes and cds. Now I’ve got kids of my own, and they’re lovin’ you too.
I wish with all my heart I could see you together again. January 8, 1990 in DC seems like ages ago…and somehow like yesterday.
Thanks for the fun and music. You can’t know how much joy you’ve brought to my life. Here we are, all older and hopefully wiser. How silly for me to get butterflies in my stomach all over again when I see you guys! If you extend the tour just a few more weeks, you know I’ll be there.

Okay, I was extremely pissed..um I mean mad B4 I came on here. I use my friends and sometimes it is hard to do anything on the computer cause my 3 year old son (who happens to be named Elijah too)is a mama’s boy and always bothering me. I am only having a bit time now cause Im sleeping over my friends cause she watched my son so I could go to a Journey concert. I LOVE to go to LoTs of concerts by ALMOST anyone! And I so much especially cant wait for NK..cause I was one of those 16 year old CRAZY OUTRAGEOUS fans. And I sure don’t feel 34 now!!..)

Recently I have been reading lots of reporters takes on why they think the 2008 NKOTB Reunion Tour is so successful and I am sad to say that most of them have missed it. They are reporting what they see and hear now, so I in now way blame them, but they have missed it. I would assume most of them were not part of this story back in the 80’s and 90’s so they are lacking the experiences that we, who have been down road A and are now running full steam down road B are engulfed in. And again it is not their fault.
They are seeing 30-something women drive up to the shows in their minivans after begging for babysitters and enjoying their life as a 13 year old again. They are seeing middle aged women fork out $125 for a $50 ticket just to capture a moment of their youth, to scream at the top of their lungs and just let go for a few hours. They are reading post after post of us ladies oh and ah over the latest song and they are laughing on the inside at these usually poised women. I see what you are seeing too, but from the inside where this all makes a lot more sense.
To fully understand where most of us are coming from, let me give you some background. We were young teenagers when we were given a peek at the 5 gents from Beantown. Their adorable accents and different personalities instantly gave us a “safe” person to adore (I was and continue to be a Donnie girl for the record - my husband of 10 years is thrilled btw). Young boys are a nightmare to try and have any kind of actual relationship with. I think they are more fickle and mean than girls are. They will give you a note saying they like you at lunch and hold another girls hand on the bus after school. And I am not sure that crushed is a word that aptly describes the poor young woman at the receiving end…but you get the picture. The guys to us were our safety net. They were our constant. They were always there for us. Just pop in a cd (no, a tape back then) or turn the TV on and instantly they were “Loving us Forever”. They were always careful to not ruin our dreams with their personal dating information (which I am certain was really hard on them and their relationships). They were always positive and genuine. As odd as it may seem to anyone outside this relationship, we really felt cared for and nurtured. I know how ridiculous and hokey that has to sound but it is the truth.
Many people say “of course they kissed your rear end, you made them RICH RICH RICH”. Do you think it was just about the money? I am sure it started out that way. 5 guys from Boston, none well off, all with large families, given a chance to make some money, kiss some cute girls, be famous. I am sure it sounded like an amazing opportunity. I would have jumped on it myself. Did we make them extraordinarily wealthy, sure we did…but they always gave back to us. They always made us feel like we were part of their world. There were inside jokes and silly phrases that belonged to us and them. In a time before the internet, blogs, facebook, myspace….there was still this unexplainable connection. I personally never got closer than a 2nd row behind the stage seat from them but I feel like I know these guys (still) and they’ve got my back. I am laughing as I write this because it sounds so absurd, but it is how it was.
So when the talk of a reunion came around, of course we were all beside ourselves. Do most of us Mommies and career girls need a good girls night out and the opportunity to turn the clock back and be 13 again? Sure we do. Who doesn’t let loose once in a while? But it honestly is so much more than that. It is a reunion of them together, but of us as well. It’s a chance for us to say thank you for all the crap they got us through. It’s a chance to laugh at old memories and make new ones. It is almost like a family reunion. People who have a common background and have been separated for so long are finally getting to say hi again. I’ve really missed you (even though we’ve never met). They really were a driving force in who many of us have become. The positivity and compassion they always showed has formed us into tolerant, forward moving, loving women who are making a difference, in part because of the “relationships” we had with the guys.
And the crazy part about it is they are somehow thankful for us. They continue to blog that they are so excited to meet us, to say thank you for still being fans. I am not sure they understand we have no choice. I have friends who are selling tons of old stuff on eBay just to raise the money to buy a 5 Star ticket to a show because we need to say thank you in person. We need that closure to be able to let the guys know that they were not just some cute guys who sang well and had us swooning in our bedrooms. They made a difference in who many young girls became. They kept our hearts safe until the right guy came along and we were able to fall in love. They taught us to stand for what we believed in and we now raise our children with the same unwavering confidence. They helped us to have fun and enjoy who we are. And that is a something that most parents pray their children will learn. They do not NEED to do this reunion, they are successful men in their own rights, apart from NKOTB. But I think they are at a point in their lives, being parents (almost all of them) and seeing what influences are available out their to their kids and I have to hope they are proud of who they were and who they have become as well. It is a special thing you just don’t get if you weren’t there. It’s not your fault, although I am a little sad for you.
And for the record, this reunion isn’t for you - it’s for us and it’s for them. The guys used to have a word for it - non-believers - and I think that holds true to this day. None of us are trying to make you like them. We never asked you to, even in the 80’s. Just let us love them. It’s who we are and it’s what we do.

It was sooo much fun, I took so many pictures, I just want to say that I love you guys sooo much especially Donnie, so cool and down earth, he was hugging everyone and really involved with all the girls…and that made me just fall in love with him all over again. I cant wait till the Oct 8th concert. Donnie, I was the girl that was crying and you held my hand forever and when they told me to move on, you told them “Give me a minute, I’m holding her hand!”, that’s the famous line that I will always rememeber! yesterday i saw yall on the view and like always i melted. i just want to say thank u, thank u, thank u for coming back to us,THE FANS. i always knew yall would,its every fans dream come true. me and my sister love you and because of nkotb we were able to get through our parents divorce. nkotb gave us the strength to want to go another day. and now my sister is going through a divorce this year, so shes been having a hard time. Luckily we will be seeing yall in san antonio tx for the concert. The Summertime video is so HOT!!!!! My best friend and I were huge fans back then and are even bigger fans now! We are going to your Minneapolis concert on October 21st. I can’t wait! I’ll be trying to give Donnie his “face-time” For that matter, I’d give all of you face time!!!!! Hahaha. Hope my husband doesn’t mind! Anyway, any thoughts on how to meet you guys would be fabulous!!!!!!
My friend and I were on the front page of the newspaper at a concert in Phoenix in the 90s so will be bringing it with me hopefully to be signed!!! (silly I know but well worth it!)

Listen, I am a single mom to a mentally handicapped child, she is 28. She doesn’t talk, but let me tell you, she can mouth every sylable to every word in every one of your songs. She listens to your music from the moments she gets home till she goes to bed since she was 11. I search yard sales and flea markets to find VHS tapes. She wears them out. I am sooooooooo glad you guys are back. Now I will able to keep your music for her. We will be attending your concert in Cleveland, Ohio. I couldn’t afford great seats for her, we are are behind your stage but I know she will be in her glory. It’s a surprize to her. If you guys could just call out her name, Tara Burke, it would mean soooooooooooooo much to her. I totally believe that she is your biggest fan because when you guys stop singing, your fans guit listening to your music, Tara NEVER stopped listening. One more thing, Joey, you are her man. My name is Patricia, a Brazilian fan. Just wanted to stop by to let you know how many different and delicate feelings you brought me back throughout this reunion. I spent this entire Sunday going through your videos on YouTube… I was in NYC last May, working, and my hotel was one block away from your Time’s Square huge sign. In a very sweet way, it brought me back some great feelings that I used to have in my teens that I shouldn’t have given up. I know it can sound a little corny, but it felt really good. It was like meeting old friends that you haven’t seen for ages: your heart goes fast, you don’t stop smiling and you just wish they have had a great life until this point. I will probably work again in the US next year and I wish I am lucky enough to get to go to a concert. About this face time you’ve been talking about… Are you planning on coming to Brazil?? I am sure those happy pretty faces you’ve seen back in 1990, at Rock in Rio II would be there for you. Well, just wanted to say hi from the south of the continent and wish you all the best.
