Ok, Los Angeles is officially a crazy place! I just went through my first earthquake. Makes me want to get out on tour all the more. Seems really strange to me that ten minutes after it ended life continued as normal for these people. I think ill park my car on the street from now on and not in the underground garage. I never get to rehearsal on time but believe me I couldn’t wait to leave my apartment this morning.

I totally thought of you guys FIRST when I heard! Hope you are all okay. I go through earthquakes all the time and I’m used to it. Just another day. Take care!

Oh Jon, I was wondering if all of you were still there! We had a earthquake here in Indiana that was nutty, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that a ghost was shaking my bed :). Hang in there, I guess people in LA are use to that kind of thing; I like it better in Indiana, you should come sometime! Hang in there, I am sure there will be aftershocks!
Love, Wendy

I have to admit y’ll were the first people that popped into my head when I read that there was an earthquake. I have only experienced a small one but it still scared the living crap out of me. I don’t believe that anywhere is safe to park the car during an earthquake. I’m so happy that no one was injured. Be safe! I can’t wait to see y’ll out on tour~
July 29th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
By the way, Jon, parking your car in the street is not good if the earthquake is big. Things will fall on your car. LOL!!

I love LA, but hate the earthquakes. Earthquakes are my biggest fear and having two little ones makes it really hard to be scared. I have to put on my brave “mommy face”. I don’t want my kids to have my same fears.
Thanks for letting us know you are all ok. I would tell you they get easier to handle the more you are hear, but I have been in CA for 26 years and they haven’t gotten any better for me.
Have fun at rehearsal.

Oh Jon!!! Thanks so much for letting us know how you were doing after the quake. I was worried for you guys. I think people from LA are use to it, I know I would feel the same way as you though. Loved hearing about how well the CD preview party went and now I am even more eager for the concerts!! It’s gonna be a long 2 months for me but I am sure it will be worth the wait!!
Love ya,

Welcome back to Cali. I miss my Santa Barbara hometown but I sure don’t miss the earthquakes. I heard you guys were “shaking up” the Cali Coast but this is crazy! Who says us “kids” from the 80’s aren’t still hot movers and shakers.. Good luck with the tour. I couldn’t get tickets to Chi-town but I’m sure I’ll hear all the familiar old-school screaming. Enjoy the Cali sun and beach for me.

Went through my first one earlier this year…lying awake in my bed in ENGLAND of all places…I thought there was a ghost under my bed at first then I realised the whole house was shaking not just my bed…lol
Glad you’re OK in any case!!

Hope the others are okay too. Though Joe & Donnie are probably used to it by now!
Take care of each other & have fun at rehearsal!

Oh, Wow! You’re first! I’ve lived in CA my whole life so even though I hate them, you definitely don’t freak out unless it’s huge. I remember the Loma Prieta in 89. That was so scary! A 5.4 is what we call “scary but fun” because it gives you a rush but generally nobody gets hurt. Life must go on…we don’t get earthquake warnings so we can’t sit around worried all the time.
Ava’s right. It’s probably safer in the parking garage if your in a newer structure. Park near the columns where the structure is stronger.
Maybe the quake was all the excitement you guys are bringing!

All it takes is an earthquake to convince you that LA is crazy??? You must not have been looking around much while you’re out there.
There was an earthquake in NJ as well (yesterday,7/28) so I’m thinking it’s all of us NKOTB fans jumping for joy that is causing the earth to shake.
Hope you enjoyed the ride, enjoy the aftershocks and stay safe!

Dear Jon,
I felt your pain, this was my first time too since I am not a LA native.
The funny thing is I was replying to your post right during the earthquake, I guess I am a true fan lol. Only after I realized the earth did not stop shaking right away I finally stopped writting to you. I guess you can say I am a true fan!
LOVE YOU!!!!! and yeah, I heard people here just have things go right back to normal, yes I agree with you. LA is crazy!!!
July 29th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Thank you Jonathan for checking back in!! We were all freaking out and hoping that you guys were okay!!! Glad to hear that you are. And I hear ya on the quake, I’m on the east cost and not used to them either. You guys take care and stay safe!!

July 29th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Thanks for checking back in with us, Jonathan, and I’m glad to hear you’re all right, if a little freaked out! I’ve only felt an earthquake once…it was a TINY one and it was years ago, but I remember waking right up out of my sleep in the middle of the night thinking that someone was kicking my bed. Scared me to death, but it turned out no one else in the house felt it, and I had to wait for the news to vindicate me the next morning by reporting that there was indeed an earthquake in the area, LOL. I can’t imagine what a 5.8 quake feels like. Take care of yourself (and your car, naturally)! Make sure the other guys take care too!
July 29th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
And oh yes I forgot to mention.
THANK GOD YOU GUYS ARE OK, I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING AS I KNOW
IN BOSTON THE GROUND DOES NOT SHAKE LIKE THIS.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL, LOVE YOU

July 29th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Welcome to L.A.! Gotta love it here. We definitely have to shake them off and get back to work.
July 29th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
I am so glad you guys are safe!!! Thanks for letting us know. That must be scary out there. No offense to the folks in California or the east coast, but I am so glad I live in Kansas. No earthquakes, wildfires or hurricanes. I don’t live near a lake or river, so no floods either. Sure there is the occassional tornado, but we just take shelter and pray to God. Take care and stay safe!!!
Love,

Oh wow!! Hope you are doing okay there! Those things aren’t fun - I’ve been thru two in my life, and they weren’t anything big at all - but I was still scared out of my mind! Interesting experience to say the least. But yes, I gotta say I am so glad you guys are all okay! Keep on truckin!
July 29th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Ya’ll just rocked the spot is all!!!
They say the quake was felt from L.A. to Vegas. Just take it easy, yo. We don’t want anything to happen to any of you guys. Atleast yoy have a brand new experience to add to your growing memories.

Thanks for letting us know that ya’ll are ok…we were worried about you. Do me a favor and tell Donnie that he should really come live in NYC…..far fewer chances of a earthquake here. Much safer for him lol!

Oh my! I do hope everyone is ok? I am glad you blogged earlier and then after the quake, when you were talking about experiencing the world all over again I don’t think this was quite what you had in mind huh?
So happy you seem ok, everyone else alright as well? OH and don’t worry about your car in the middle a quake, worry about C.Y.A. and make sure you and whoever is with you is ok!

Hey Jonathan,
Well, you lived through your first earthquake. You can no longer be considered just a visitor. lol…
I wish I could have been there for you…to make you feel safe!
I can’t wait for this fall for the tour, especially 10-11-08 when I get to finally meet you.
Until then,
July 29th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
I was wondering how you guys were dealing with this! I’m a native Californian so I’m used to this. This quake isn’t as bad as previous ones. It still scared me tough since there hasn’t been one like this in years!
July 29th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
So are you ok again ? Am worried.
I never have had an earthquake in my life before… so I dunno how it feels / is like.
May this situation is kind of normal to this people… as far as I know … earthquakes happen a lot in this area. It’s about the geology there… the Mariannen ditch is next to L.A.
So don’t mind & do the best to feel comfortable & safed with.
My life went better the last 2 days, too. My loved Grandma will be back home before the weekend…she’s in a hospital right now…she nearly died last week, she was really sick & that scared me sooo much…she’s the last one of my grandparents.Dunno what to do,if she’d die,too.Honest.
Think of you,
love,
Kathrin

Hey Jon!
You are my favorite! Thanks for posting this blog! It’s so nice to hear from you!
This was your 1st earthquake experience ever?!? I bet that’s a little scary! Us Californians are used to them, so I can totally understand how the people in LA just carried on like normal right away!
Can’t wait to meet you in October!
Take care! luv ya!
July 29th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Welcome to California, Jonathan! The biggest earthquake I was in was the one in 1989 here in the Bay Area when part of the Bay Bridge collapsed and was shut down for a month. I was 13 and home by myself. It is scary but I will take earthquakes over tornados/hurricanes anyday! See you in October! Love to you all!
July 29th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
That’s it, I think you all need to leave LA and go back to the East Coast! You will be much safer there. LOL!!!! I think Selli may be right though, it’s probably all the New Kids fans jumping up and down with excitement causing the earthquakes to happen!
July 29th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Glad to hear you’re all alright. That’s the one reason I have been reluctant to move to California, especially since there’s no warning system for those. Here in tornado alley, we are used to a warning system for natural disasters, much prefer knowing it’s headed your way over the surprise that is an earthquake. Still hoping you guys will come to Oklahoma (hint, hint, hint)!
Much Love Always,

I completely know what you mean about wanting to leave the apartment! I’m in Costa Mesa and when the earthquake happened, I pretty much tried to run down the stairs and out the door! Earthquakes freak me out especially because I am always scared that it will be the “Big One”! Hopefully that will not happen anytime soon! I heard on the news that L.A. got quite a jolt! Just think of it as going on a ride at Magic Mountain….then it’s not so bad. I’m glad that you are ok(-: Have fun at rehearsal!

WELL, THANK GOD! CNN is useless! I immediately went there after the quake was broadcasted and nothing about you guys! They clearly do not realize how important you all are to all the fans. *sigh* Glad to hear all is well. I was there in ‘92 during an earthquake and I vowed never to move to CA. It was a fright!

One good thing about living in the northern hemisphere now - you hardly get any earthquakes - yay! Grew up on a faultline in Wellington in New Zealand which is overdue for the ‘big’ one. Tends to shake a bit when one hits but you get used to getting under doorways or tables… it’s only when things start falling down you have to really pay attention
The worst is when you’re hungover and you’re not sure if things are moving or it’s just the effects of alcohol
Take it easy.

See Jon, I told you no more La. UK is where it’s at. This is a lovely place for rehersals. Fish and Chips, Mullet girls, and we’ll get a few ping pong tables. We are loving your updates. Can’t wait for more blogs. It’s just fun to hear what you guys are up to. The single is already doing well on this side of the pond. It’s amazing to hear see it on video channels here and on the radio!!!

After I checked on my friends, I thought of you guys.
Oh, and Jonathan? i’m not one of “these people.” :). I’ve lived in L.A. ALL my life and I’m still not used to it!! My friend in Burbank drove over here to check on me because I was practically hyperventilating on the phone. I’m ok physically but I’m an emotional wreck!!
Anyway, I hope you’re ok.

Oh Jon!!! I LOVE, LOVE, YOUR PERSONAL BLOGS! Thank GOD you’re all safe. Why don’t you all just rehearse back home on the east coast–BOSTON or NYC? Ok, I’m sure you have your more practical, personal, and business reasons for being there.
Please be safe!

i am thinking of you… (and the rest of the fellas, of course), but you especially during this time. earthquakes aren’t fun, especially when you haven’t experienced one. i never get used to them and i’ve been living in california almost my entire life.
July 29th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Jonathan Thank God Your Ok. I Only Wish I Could Have Been With You To Hold Your Hand. Well Truth Be Told You Would Have Had To Hold Me B/C I Would Have Lost It. Lol

I read about the earthquake while I was checking my e-mails on yahoo. Glad you’re all ok. Can’t wait to hear the new cd. I can only imagine that it’s gonna be the best NKOTB stuff yet. I wish I could get a sneak peek at the rest of the songs. But so far Summertime and Click Click Click are my absolute faves.

You’re so cute Jonathan
I completely forgot they don’t have earthquakes on the East Coast do they? Yup, unfortunately it’s kind of a normal thing around here…as long as it’s not a MAJOR one, we all just “shake” it off and go back to our normal day~
I hope it didn’t mess up any of your rehearsals! Take care!
Love,
Eileen
July 29th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
Jonathon,
Yeah, it was MY first earthquake ever, too!!! I’m so thankful my boyfriend was there to tell me what I needed to do. Ahh ~ craziness! But thank God that seems to be the worst of it, and there have been no reports of injuries (at least, last I heard).
Love & hugs,
Charlene M.
July 29th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Yikes! I’ve never experienced an earthquake…it’s pretty normal in L.A. though, I suppose! Take care of yourself because you have thousands and thousands of people waiting to see you;) Love you!

Hi there again!
Happy to hear from you again today, and good to know that you survived your first earthquake unscathed! It must have caught you completely off guard when the building started shaking. Hearing about earthquakes doesn’t really prepare you for how it is.
Here’s hoping that any rumbling and shaking that you experience from here on is the roar of the crowds on tour!
~damsel~
July 29th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Ironically, I just said to someone that I’d happily trade all the snow, ice and months of cold weather for a little ground shaking once in a while. But after reading your post….maybe not.
I’m guessing that it’s probably one of the most unsettling things to experience. (especially if you’re not used to it)
Glad to know you’re all ok though!
Now…late for rehearsals is one thing, but you can’t possibly make us wait any longer on concert days, we just won’t be able to handle it.
See you September 18th!

July 29th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Jon, so glad to hear you are all okay. I’m with you - LA is not for me either. I definitely loved being there and seeing you guys this weekend, but I did breath a sigh of relief as soon as we landed at JFK. LA makes New York seem normal! I hardly ever see Robocop and cross-dressing Marilyns on my way to Starbucks here
Thanks for the update.

I was wondering how all of you weathered the earthquake. We had one here in Southern IL earlier this year. Earthquakes are pretty scarey. However, I am sure that everything will be fine. I will be praying for you.
Love always,

Didn’t realize pretty much all of SoCal felt it. Glad everything’s OK with you guys in LA.
This was also my first one. I was running around like a headless chicken trying to get to my children and figuring out where to go to be safe. Then waiting to see if another one was going to come. It was crazy! That’s what I dreaded moving to CA! :p
July 29th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
glad to hear all is ok…*whew*…be safe!!
xoxox
July 29th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
It’s okay Jon, the main thing is of course that everyone is safe and alive. Buildings and cars are replacable, people are not! As far as people continuing on as normal here, well, with the busy lifestyle as most people are in here, if nothing is damaged, then you have to continue. It also is quite calming instead of dwelling on the “what if’s”. My location was only 8 miles away from the epicenter… yes, I had some things damaged and non replaceable, but I’m still here without a scratch!
Take care and stay safe,
~K
July 29th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
Wow, Jon, I’ve never been in an earthquake, and hope to never have to be. That’s enough to shake anyone up (really, no pun intended)

My husband just told me there was an earthquake near L.A. because the company he works for has its headquarters there & they told everyone in case they were concerned about it. I, of course, was immediately thinking of all of you & Donnie & Joe’s families. I’m glad you are all good. I always pray for you all that you are safe wherever you are esp when away from home. I’m glad you are safe. He said there will be after shocks, so be careful. Love to you, Jordan, Donnie, Danny & Joe from Gail

Awwwh, Jonathan! Your first earthquake! It’s funny you pointed out how people just go on with their day once it’s over. I guess I never really noticed it - I grew up here in California (San Francisco) so earthquakes are just something we live with…still, they never fail to put me on edge, even after all these years. I’m just glad to hear you’re ok.
And hey, if L.A. is too crazy for you, come up north a ways, it’s lovely, earthquakes and all
kisses by the millions sweetness,

Hey Jon, it’s always nice to hear from you. I see that you just experienced your first earthquake! I’m still afraid. I lived in LA when i was younger, but now i live in beutiful Colorado and i think i rather stay here for a while longer and enjoy the mountains and snow. I plan to go back to LA soon, but i would like to travel first to see where i would like to make my home. I have only lived in Colorado, LA, and Kansas so i would love to see other places first. I’m so excited for you and the group and i hope everything is well and try not to get so stressed out…..I know things can get a little overwhelming sometimes. I bet your family has already called you today? Just from your recent blogs, I kmow that you are close, well i hope everything is well. Hope to hear from you more often.

Wow guess that’s what seperates us West coasters from the East coasters. I’m 35 and been through my share of earthquakes. Thanks for taking the time to write to everyone Jonathan, its very much appreciated. Means alot when the persongroup you have been following since 1984 still cares enough to share his first earthquake with ya. I mean I have been raked over the coals for years for LOVING your music so much, its nice to know you all still love us too. Look forward to seeing you Nov 23rd from the 22nd row.
July 29th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Hey, Jon!! Glad to hear that you’re ok after your first earthquake…guess you’re not an “Earthquake Virgin” anymore…lol!!
I have to ask: is it a Sagitarian thing about being late all the time?? Every Sag I know is never on time.
Lots of Love, can’t wait to see you Sept 18 in Toronto!!

PS-> I still think you guys should come to Halifax, NS…I’d show you some good ‘ole Maritime hospitality

It’s so neat to hear your perspective on what’s going on! Seriously, Jonathan, if you were anymore endearing, you’d literally be made out of sugar!
Felt the quake this morning, so I know how you feel. We haven’t had one in a long time. Maybe New Kid presence set it off!
Love ya and can’t wait to meet you in October!

Hey Jonathan,
I hope you’re okay over in Los Angeles with the earthquake. For some reason I thought of you with that. By the way, I’m just so thrilled about the concert and can’t wait to see you and the boys soon. It seems so so long. Before I forget Jon, I love you and the guys so so much. Don’t you never forget it either. LOL!

Glad you guys are ok. You’ll have to get yourselves here to Boston ASAP, no earthquakes here (although we did have a tornado warning and 2 tornados hit NE last week, crazy huh?) That’s what I like about Boston, you get hurricanes but those are easy, you know way before they get here and have plenty of warning! Hope everything else is going well. Enjoy the time before things get really crazy though, you guys have yourselves quite a packed schedule coming up! We’re all so happy to see you all though! Thanks so much for doing all this and for all your hard work, we’d love you even if you hadn’t rehearsed once!
July 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Hey Jonathan,
You are right…we ARE crazy here in Los Angeles. About 15 seconds after the earthquake ended I went back to my normal routine. It seemed like no big deal till I came on here and read your blog. ha ha
Glad to hear you are OK!
July 29th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Hi Jonathan,
I hope you and all the guys are ok. I grew up in Los Angeles and I remembered experiencing the Northridge quake back in 1994. I live in Vegas now, but I’m hoping all my family and friends that still live in Southern California are all ok as well. Hope rehearsals go well with you and the guys. I pray that you and everyone in Southern California are ok. See you in concert in October!

Dear Jon. I know what you have fell during the earthquake. We have some in the FWI (Guadeloupe) and it’s strange that life keeps on normally a few minutes after! Take care of you guys because we need to see you in Paris! FRANCE IS READY!!!
July 29th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Glad you guys are okay! I experienced my first earthquake on Oct 15,06 and yeah it was pretty scary. The quake woke me up, but in the beginning I thought my husband was shaking the bed..lol! I never want to experience that again. Take Care Guys!
July 29th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Glad you guys are ok. Experiencing your 1st earthquake must have been frightening. At least you can check off “experienced an earthquake” on your list of things to do before you die. A joke. I’ve experienced 2 and they weren’t too bad….a bit surreal.
July 29th, 2008 at 5:03 pm

Im so glad to hear that you are OK! Sorry it was such an unpleasant experience for you, though. Wish I could have been there to hold your hand, LOL! Not that I probably wouldnt have been screaming my head off! I have never KNOWINGLY experienced an earthquake. Although I heard we had one here in Northwest Indiana a few months ago in the middle of the night. I guess I just sleep hard and didnt even notice, LOL! I cant say I blame you for not wanting your car in the underground garage, I think I would do the same thing. Only catch is, you are more likely to be spotted by some of your Jon-tourage and then what? LOL! Hugs and kisses coming your way!

okay, I first read two posts without reading anything and I said Jonathan posted twice today that is strange. Then I was like OMG my Jonathan was in an earthquake. Being an East Coaster just like you - I cannot imangine an earthquake at all - I am soooo sooooo glad you are okay. I don’t blame u for not wanting to park in the underground garage - me no never I would not want to do it either. Don’t worry baby I can pretty much promise at least I am pretty sure that when you come to New York there will be no earthquakes.
Stay safe my baby and keep enjoying yourself. Okay today was not that enjoyable because of the earthquake but on non earthquake days enjoy yourself. Glad all you guys are safe and hope I hope all LA girls are safe too that are on the board.

Hi Jonathan,
We think of earthquakes, like you would think about snow storms. They happen. Really, don’t worry! You are very safe in LA (even parking garages :-)) when it comes to earthquakes. Tornado on the other hand……
Glad you are enjoying LA and you are okay. Wish I could see you guys in concert…sigh…maybe when we are all 80.
Peace! C-

Jonathan,
Thanks for blogging to let us know you are ok. I didn’t find out about the earthquake until later, but if you are not used to them, it can be a terrifying experience. Where you on a high floor? WOW, that must have been QUITE a run-for-it!
Glad to know you and the guys are ok.

Hm, was it an earthquake … or does Cali just rock your world?
The best advise I’ve heard about earthquakes comes from Jay Leno: The two best places to be during an earthquake is under a doorway … or at Hooters.
Yeah, I don’t really get it as I’ve never been in an earthquake … next time it happens let me know, k.
July 29th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Thanks for checking in! That was sweet of you to give us an update because you KNOW all us blockheads were thinking “An Earthquake in L.A.?! Oh no, the New Kids are there!!!” LOL! Not that we don’t care about the rest of the town but we gotta know you guys are safe first…priorities, ya know.
Hope you’re going okay now. We are ready for the tour to start too!

Jonathan,
Hope you’re ok despite the jolt you felt.
My friend, who lives in LA (she’s originally from Nor Cal) just text messaged me to tell me that she & her family are doing alright despite the quake.
Most LA natives are accustomed to quakes. I found this out a few years back when I was visiting Universal City & felt a quake. No one said anything about it. I live about 10 hrs north of LA, so I still get a little surprised when we get one up north.
If you should feel an after shock, I’d advise you to duck under a table or underneath a doorway! Take care & stay safe.

I hate earthquakes too, but the ground doesn’t shake that often in the Portland area. When it does life doesn’t go back to normal right after because we have been told that there will be a big one to hit our area one day. I did not realize you guys were so close to the action of the quake. I hope you are all okay, and all the rehearsals are coming along smoothly. (No pun intended.) Take care of yourself, get some sleep, and some coffee to calm your nerves. Don’t watch movies like Deep Impact, Volcano, or anything with a natural disature in it. Hope you have fun on tour, and when you are in Portland, hope you can get some Christmas Shopping done. Do you remember that there is a mall about 10 minutes from the Rose Garden…just in case you wanted to do some shopping.

I feel so spoiled. Two blogs in one day! How .. well.. YAY!!!
You do know that the ground will swallow you up in those earthquakes don’t you? LOL My dad lives in literally the town of Paradise in Northern California and we always tease him that he will either be swallowed up by an earthquake or will be swept out to sea when california drops off into the ocean
But you could always come to Texas. We got more exiting things.. Tornadoes! LOL
After last night and 1am bedtime, I’m exhausted. HOW do you guys keep up the pace man. Good gosh a mighty. Oh and yeah I’d park in the street too.. no underground parking for me. Claustrophobia city man. But dude.. you better have an ocean view apartment. Those would be to die for
July 29th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Jon!
I am so glad to hear that you guys are ok. I have to say that I don’t think I could ever get use to that sort of thing. I am from New York City where we are not prone to earthquakes or Tornato. Stay safe!

Earth quakes are actually the only reason I will never go to CA. Too scary! lol. Glad to hear that everyone is ok though.
July 29th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
HELLO JON!!!
WHAT A DAY WE HAD!! WHO KNEW YOU WOULD EXPERIENCE ONE OF CALIFORNIA’S EARTHQUAKES. LUCKILY, IT WAS ONLY A 5.4. WHILE MY 2-STORY HOUSE WAS SHAKING, I WAS PRAYING, “OH PLEASE LORD, LET THIS NOT BE THE “BIG ONE” THAT THE EXPERTS HAVE SAID THAT CALIFORNIA WILL EXPERIENCE.” NOW YOU CAN FINALLY SAY THAT YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE A EARTHQUAKE! :>) THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING AND FEELING. IT’S SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU TWICE!! COULD YOU PLEASE TELL JORDAN I SAID “HI”! THANK YOU!!! :>)
WITH MUCH LOVE,
DENISE

I was just out west (Vancouver) and in my apartment there was a earthquake kit because Vancouver is the same faultline. On the top it said that a “major, devastating earthquake could happen at any moment…” Wow…I felt a little like I want to leave ASAP.
You guys are doing great! “Summertime” is going up the charts here in HALIFAX, Canada everyday, #4 tonight. All the blockheads are coming out of the closet. My friends are telling complete strangers that I once met Jordan and people are lining up to hear the story, haha. I need to carry the picture in my wallet or something.
See you in Sept in Atlantic City!!! Keep keeping on
July 29th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
There There are no earthquakes in AUSTRALIA - the land downunder is immune to earthquake activity. Just FYI - maybe you can add us to your tour list? LOL Just a suggestion - no pressure (ok some LOL)
July 29th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Hey Jonathan,
Bless your heart! I have heard the earthquakes out there are pretty bad. I guess that is another advantage of living in the south. In all my years down here I have only been through one earthquake and it barely registered on the scale. Stay safe and God Bless!
With love,
Rhonda
P.S. Please do park on the street from now on. Couldn’t handle it if something happened to you.
July 29th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
I know it’s crazy out here! You just never know when to expect one… I’ve lived here all my life and they scare me every time, too! Glad you guys are all ok!!! Love you ALL!!!
July 29th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
okay sending another blog to my sweetie pie before this east coast girl heads off to bed - I have to be in work early tomorrow okay ugh I am so not an early person lol. Anyway, can’t get you out of my head and feeling bad that you had to go through your first earthquake - hey come on you are almost 40 and it took you this long to live through an earthquake. At least now you can say you lived through at least 1. I still can’t say at just turned 40 that I have since at least for now my feet are staying very firmly planted on the East Coast. Anyway, so happy again you are safe and that you made sure and let us know. I know this might be easier said than done but just put it out of your head and have sweet and happy dreams. I know now I am becoming your true online blogging mom not only telling you to make sure you take care of yourself and eat your veggies and all but now telling you to have sweet dreams. It has always been me, I was like the little worrying mother hen at 6 or 7 and it has never stopped. No matter how amazingly sexy I found you, I am still going to morph into your online blogging mom I guess. Anyway hope at least made you smile and laugh today thought you needed it and you made me smile and be happy today when I saw your blogs when work was totally crazy so I figured I owed you and had to return the favor.
Speak to you soon - make sure you take care of yourself and the other guys too. Luv ya lots all of you stay safe.
Love
Kelly

Jonathan,
Thank goodness you guys are alright. I was young, about 12 when I had my first earthquake and didn’t realize it was an earthquake till I got home. I was like why are people looking up? What’s happening? Earthquakes are always terrible, just remember the TRIANGLE OF LIFE in case of aftershocks (Hope you won’t be able to experience that again). Thanks for keeping us updated.
Always Take Care Guys!

Hi Jon. I lived in California for about 7 years and I agree that first earthquake is always a little of a shock (after all we take for granted that the ground is a solid object that DOESN’T move of its own accord), but after a while you do get used to it (much like getting used to tornados in Colorado where I’m living now!). Thanks for taking the time to write to the fans to let them know you are all okay.
Glad you’re all okay and having fun, I’ll see you in November.
July 29th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Glad that you’re ok and i hope the guys are also fine.. Have fun at the Reheasal!

I’m glad ya’ll are okay. I myself have never experienced an earthquake. Can’t wait for Chicago and Mall of America, I’m glad MN is getting some love. Hope ya’ll have fun and don’t work too hard at rehearsal. Love ya’ll, loyal to the end.
July 29th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
if I said I get used of earthquakes,it will be the crazy talk I know but 7-10 times a years in Taiwan is very very normal. But it still scared hell of me…..Don’t think earthquakes is the thing you will get used of……Good luck^^
July 29th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Okay, I just have to leave another comment before I turn in for the night. Jonathan, I’m glad that you are writing blogs. We fans want to hear from you. We would ya’ll to post them closer together so we feel like we can “hear” from ya’ll everday. We know you can’t and we appreciate the times you do write. Stay safe. Say hi to the guys for me and tell them to give their children hugs all the time and tell them that they love them. Love ya’ll, loyal to the end.
July 29th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Thank you for the update Jonathan!! I can’t imagine what an earthquake of that scale (or higher, god forbid!) would be like.. I’m so happy to hear you’re okay and everything is fine. I don’t blame you for wanting to get to rehearsal ASAP afterward - I’d HATE being alone for something like that, especially not being used to it.
Sidenote: it’s just really sweet that you thought to come and tell US about it. You guys all really know how to make us feel important to you and that’s just something that amazes me every day.
Also, thanks for the update in general. It’s always so great to hear from you all and I love that you’re having such a good time with the rehearsals. As long as you guys are having fun, we will too!
Is it too early to be counting the days until I finally get to meet you (and hopefully get the chance to chat)?
Please be careful and make sure your apartment is earthquake-proof, okay?
Much love,

Thank you for the update Jonathan!! So glad to hear you and everyone else is okay!! Earthquakes are definitely a scary thing!!
Interestingly enough thought back in Aug. 2002 or 2003 on a Saturday in the early AM, I felt a really small one, either a 1 or 2 magnitude and it wasn’t in California but here in our home state of Massachusetts!! Go figure that like never happens but it did that day, it was shocking to see on the news when it was confirmed. It was only a few seconds that day and felt like people running up and down the stairs in the hallway.. I can’t imagine what a higher magnitude feels. Just scary.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write again and let us all know ya’ll are okay!
See you in Boston, can’t wait for September!!
:)
lots of love,
Kim

A big relief to know that you guys are okay. I myself survived quite a few of those high magnitude earthquakes when I lived 2.5 years in Japan. The difference between your car and my apartment is that rather than being underground, my apartment was on the top floor. Yep, the chandelier swung heavily for a couple of minutes!
Anyways, can’t wait seeing you on tour in Europe again soon! SWITZERLAND is waiting!

Wow 2 blogs today .. it’s our lucky day!
Okay, trust me you really don’t want to park your car in the street during a big earthquake.. chances are it won’t be safe especially if something falls lol.. The last time I felt an earthquake was at school and it a large box of books fell and it my head before I could get under the table. Our last earthquake, lucky I slept through it.
July 30th, 2008 at 12:20 am

Hi Jon,
I was 24 when I first felt a earthquake, it came in stages of 10 secs brake, then 20 secs brake, then 30 secs. That was back in New Zealand in the top of the South Island, I nearly scared myself to death, didn’t like it at all. I was working in a supermarket at the time, but hadnt started that day yet, but everyone was talking about when I got to work, people were saying houses were swaying allsorts of other stuff. Hope you guys are well, cant wait for you guys to go onsale in London uk. Have fun.

Hi Jon, its me NORTH CAROLINA LOL.Im glad to hear that you are ok,i thought about you guys as soon as i heard about the earthquake.
July 30th, 2008 at 4:13 am
Hi!
This is my first time here. Until today I was just a “silent fan” reading the other fans responses…
I just wanted to tell you that “Summertime” is doing very good here in Estonia (Estonia is in East-Europe, it is one of the Baltic countries, our neighbours are Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia). The song is played often in one of the biggest and most popular radio stations here. And it is nr 2 on the countdown.
I am happy!:))
Earthquake, yeah, we don’t have them here. There was a few many years ago, but they didn’t have remarkable strength. Scary though.
PS. It would be really really great if you could come to Finland for a concert - Estonia would be too much to ask.
Regards,
CE
