So Toronto was off the chain as you heard from Danny. Personally, I think we were a little more loose (if that’s possible) north of the border because we were in another country. Seems like Canada is so close, so you might not think its a big difference from the U.S. if you haven’t been there, but it is.Some of the cliches are true. Canadians are much more laid back than us. They are much less affected by all the craziness we surround ourselves with in the States. In short, I think the love flows a little easier up there. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud to be an American, I just think we could learn something from O’ Canada.
So anyway, we had a great time at the Much Music Awards…once again it rained on our performance. I think we’re gonna start worrying if it doesn’t rain on show days now. It’s always fun to be around other bands and artists, hanging out, checking out the different vibes. Rihanna is stunn-ing. Sum 41, who are the favorite sons of Canada, wore vintage New Kids t-shirts. They saw an interview we did the day before where I said that they were gonna be our back up band because we didn’t have our band. They got the joke. Their reaction was very Canadian to me. (Wow, I think I might move there. No Sa!)
So check it…we are leaving sound check and this girl stops Jordan and says, “will you take a picture with my dog?” And Jordan obliges her. As the girl is taking the shot, she says, “Jordan, over here. Over here!” So Jordan’s like, “I’m looking.” And she says, “no, I’m talking to the dog. His name is Jordan.” AAHGADOOJH!!!! She named her dog after her fave New Kid. Not the craziest thing we’ve ever heard, but worthy of notice.
SO THEN… I’m at a party that night before the show and I meet two sisters. One points out that her sister was a huge fan of mine and so she named her hamster after me. Strange, but again at this point, we’ve kinda heard it all. But then it went over the top when I bumped into them later and the sister said, “Oh, when little Joey died, it was baaaad, real bad. She was….” And before she could go into the details of her sister’s trauma of losing her little hampster Joe, the other mortified sister cut her off abruptly and pulled her away. I wasn’t sure if she was embarrassed because she was talking about something personal or that it was kind of morbid to say I had died? Naming your pets after your favorite New Kids, is that a Toronto thing?

oh and ps if you say Canadians are so laid back does that mean that you forgive me for screaming I love you in your face? because I did not feel very laid back that morning I tell ya…
June 19th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Thank you
I needed a good giggle. You guys are the best!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Joe, your stories made my day! Thanks for the smiles!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:33 am
LOL! Joe, your blogs always make me smile (this tops the ‘I did hit that step in extraordinary fashion’ line from your last entry)! Thanks for giving a little insight on the wackiness you guys are facing as you set off on this wild ride again. I’ve never been a pet person (and I’m not Canadian though I share your affinity for them as an American), so I can help you there, ha! And if I should be so lucky as to see NKOTB appear or perform outdoors again (aside from seeing you indoors at Izod 5* and MSG; and after both Today Shows and Kiss108), I’m not even going to bother to look at a weather report!
Thanks again for checking in with us! Love ya!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Okay… That is absolutley the most strange and hilarious thing I have heard in a while. You made me laugh Joe Mac and I thank you for it. What you guys did up here was amazing. Not just the show but the way you were with all of your fans as well as the media. The media up here can’t get enough and of course us fans will never get enough! You guys are awesome and we are so glad your back. Can’t wait to see you in the fall. Take care Joe!

June 19th, 2008 at 10:34 am
LMAO!! That was classic!! Now, I can understand naming a dog/cat after one of you but a hamster??? Oh my goodness!! lol.
I have to tell you Joey…I never knew you were so funny but after all the interviews that I’ve heard you have definitely won me over! I’m still a “Donniegirl” always but you have a special place :-).
June 19th, 2008 at 10:34 am
Too funny!
It’s not a Toronto thing for me - lol! I’ve never named a pet after a New Kid, but hey - never say never….. I was kinda thinking of getting a gecko — which one of you should I name it after? Just kidding!
LOL!
Seriously — Glad you enjoyed your time in my hometown! Can’t wait to see you all in September at the ACC!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:35 am
HAHAHA!!!
Im from Toronto and I named my goldfish after you!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Hi Joe!
You’re hilarious! I can say with all honesty I’ve never named anything after any of you. You’d be surprised how many people named children after one of you guys. Don’t think my hubby would be having that. Anyway, I’m glad you all had a great time in Canada. So I guess now it’s back to LA for tour rehearsals….I’m still trying to figure out how to get my work to send me to LA…..I can Audit something in LA can’t I?
Can’t wait to see you in Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans, and Dallas this October. It will be the first time I will get to meet you and I am soooooo excited.
Enjoy the ride!

Hey Joe! Well, the pet-naming trend isn’t a Toronto thing, it’s a NK-Fan thing :o) You guys were fantastic (as usual), and I loved all the radio interviews. Can’t wait to see you back in September!
Love,
Dawn
June 19th, 2008 at 10:44 am
Joe, you are way to funny. I do not think it is a Toronto thing because I live in America and I have named my fish after you. But thanks for the story it made me laugh as always. Love you forever,

You have a great sense of humor Joey
June 19th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Too funny! It just goes to show you how hardcore your fans are. I work in a veterinary hospital in Toronto, and I’ll have to admit that I’ve never met a “patient” named after one of you guys, but now that you’re back we just might have some new puppies and kittens with your names…I’ll keep ya updated
It was amazing having you guys here in Toronto, it is such a great city, and real estate is hot now so if you’re looking to move we will welcome you with open arms! You guys are all amazing and I can’t wait to see you all again in September. Love ya!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Alright, I stopped laughing long enough to type this…Wait - pause - another fit of laughter…LMAO
Okay, okay, okay…
Well, I dunno ’bout all that pet-naming business but it sure does make for memorable meetings, no? I could just picture you guys cracking up about it in your hotel afterwards.
Hhhhmmmmmm…Guess I’m going to have to figure out something to make my meeting with you in October at Madison Square Garden memorable…*wrings hands together* LOL
Well, I’m glad you guys are enjoying yourselves and thanks for keeping us posted with your great blogs!
Hugs & love (especially for you, Joey *schoolgirl/grown woman giggle*),

So you loved Toronto… All I have to add is you’ll LOVE Montreal… It’s Canada with a French twist!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Hi Joe,
You’re too funny. Thanks for sharing your “crazy pet” stories with us. I live in Boston but have some Canadian friends and absolutely agree with you that America could learn some things from the Canadians (and I’m not talking about pet naming
I’m glad everything is going well for you guys. We love you and appreciate all the hard work and long hours you are putting into this!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Wonderfully lighthearted words…I enjoyed this blog entry very much! You do have a way of making me chuckle, too. It’s alway nice hearing about the craziness from your side. You have a great outlook and seem to take everything with a grain of salt.
On a side note, I was watching the Celtics KILL the Lakers and actually caught a glimpse of you and Donnie at the game! (of course, the ladies here on the boards tipped me off) Whoot! Was that not the best game EVER to be in attendance at?? Holy smokes. CONGRATS to the CELTICS!
It’s a BOSTON thing!!
Much love and support,
Jennifer

Joey, you crack me up! Please bring you humour to the UK too
Call me weird, but I’d be far more likely to name a child after one of you guys than my pet!! That Jordan & Jordan photo thing though was too funny!
I’m glad you sound like you had such a good time in Toronto. Know where else you guys would have a good time…? Hehe, I won’t keep saying it. Just keep enjoying yourself Joey. As long as you guys are doing that, we’ll be here. xxx
June 19th, 2008 at 10:57 am

Thanks for the laugh Joe. I named my dog Jordan also. Jordan is not my fav New Kid but I always liked his name. It definitely was a toss up between Donnie and Jordan though…I just didn’t want to name my dog Donnie…just in case we got married or something! LOL. Just kidding! Seriously though,it is great to get these blogs from you guys and to have you back! THANK YOU!! I can’t wait until October 3rd!!! We are gonna ROCK Cleveland!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Love the blog, so funny. Poor Jordan lol. Having pets named after you, I’m sure its not a Canadian thing. I’m sure its odd to hear fans name their kids after you. I am American and this American would defiently show you guys much love. But I understand what you are saying about USA as a fan I hear what you are hearing too. But love to read the blogs and hear the interviews you keep me laughing. Good luck on getting tour together, can’t wait to see you guys in November in Nebraska. Also loved seeing you at game 6, GO Celtics!!

I can not stop laughing long enough to write this- pets named after NKOTB- to funny! All I can say is my dog is named Midnight, NOT Joe.
Love Ya Joe! Can’t wait till the fall to see you all live in concert again!
June 19th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Joe Joe Joe
You have to be the funniest man on earth…well at least to me. I hope you know that if you ever felt you couldn’t sing, dance or act for some reason, you could go into the comedy business without a hitch! HAHA. Anyway, love you as always. Was great to read your newest blog. Love hearing from you. I have never named a pet after you, not even a child (course haven’t had a boy yet). To me there is only one Joe. But, it’s funny how many people I have heard have done that. I guess it just goes to show just what a wonderful impact you guys have made on all of us. So excited to see you this fall!
June 19th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Joey!
I definitely feel COUGHT IN THE ACT right now and I´m not referring to that 90s Dutch/UK boyband you may know by chance *lol*
My mare is supposed to have a filly next year and I´ve already started to think about aproppriate names
Unfortunately I can´t name it after one of you guys as the first letter has to be an “R” in case it a little stallion(Oh, wait!I could actually name it after Jon!) and an “I” in case of a little mare according to breeding association´s rules…
Now I am trying to find other NK related terms … ´til now I got “Right Stuff” and “Reunion Rumour”
I really hope that it´s gonna be a stallion so I refuse to think about “I” names *lol*
BTW you really could have done more songs with an “R” at the beginning of the title or “I” songs with shorter titles *lol*
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Anyways I´ll keep you informed
Moni

Hey Joey,

I can’t wait to lay a big kiss on you in Philadelphia!
I wanted to add that when I was a kid I named my guinea pig after Jordan. But I always loved all of you, and still do.
Can’t wait to meet you on November 5!

You are too funny Joey…I needed to laugh….I actually have a cat and I named her ANGEL…after your all’s song ANGEL from the first self titled album….and at this moment…her name does NOT fit her….she is far from being an ANGEL right now…
June 19th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Hi Joey,
Even with your blog, you’re funny. Don’t ever ever lose that great sense of humor. You’re my cheer me up guy. We’ve enjoyed the Toronto performance and interviews. Hope to see you soon.

it might be a toronto thing. cause i think all us americans collectively named all our pets nikko.
June 19th, 2008 at 11:12 am
It rained when I saw you guys at the Giants Stadium in ‘90. Yes, I think it’s part of the show! Quoting the stunn-ing Rihanna:

I can’t say I’ve ever had anything named after me so you’re doing pretty good when you have people naming their firstborns…. dogs… etc after you I suppose heh heh. Just goes to show how much of an impact you have made on other people and for that you can feel satified that you have left a fingerprint that won’t be soon forgotten.
Glad you guys had a great time in toronto but now it’s time for you to come back home! We miss ya!

June 19th, 2008 at 11:14 am

See you in Seattle in November!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Hey Joey, you diffently know how to make people laugh. I can’t wait to see you and the guys in concert on October 17th in San Antonio, TX. I will be in the 100 level, I couldn’t afford to buy the VIP package, but oh well it doesn’t matter as long as I’m going to the concert to see you.
Love You Always,Kathy
June 19th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Joey I use to work at a breeding kennel in Mid-Michigan. I named a litter of puppies Joey, Jordan, Danny, Donnie & Jonathan. The funny thing is Joey lived with me and took a vacation to Vermont with me in 2002. He was a great dog…Golden Retriever.
It was nice meeting you in Toronto. Can’t wait to see you in Boston & Detroit in the fall.

Hi Joe,
I was so excited to hear you guys were getting back together. I was so in love with you and Donnie. Thought I was gonna marry one of ya. Can’t say that I have ever had a pet named after a New Kid but I had one named after Elvis once.Ha Ha. Why aren’t you guys coming to Mississippi? Us Mississippi girls want to see ya too. Want to see yall so bad. Maybe you will come to Mississippi soon. I dug out my old New Kids videos the other day and had so much fun watching them. I am just giddy at the fact you are back. Thanks so much.

June 19th, 2008 at 11:45 am
thank you very much Joseph! my office staff now thinks I am totally nuts because I read this blog at work, and totally had a giggle fit reading about the hampster!!!! (only cuz it reminded me of a bird i used to have named Jordan) but thats another story lol
June 19th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Too funny. I have never laughed so much while reading a blog. Thank you Joey.
Ok so with that I have to share my pet story too. Back in 1991 my family had a dog that had pupplies and of course being a huge New Kids fan I had to name the dog that I was going to keep after them right????? Well the dog I decided to keep was big, black and fluffy so I named her Biscuit. My parents of course thought I was nuts, but hat wasn’t anything new at that point in my New Kids craze so I didn’t mind. Just had to share.
June 19th, 2008 at 11:52 am
JOEY!! BABY!! I’m Canadian through and through, and to hear you guys give us props like that is incredible. Sometimes we feel like we just blend in with America, and not that there’s anything wrong with that, but we do have a strong identity on our own. I am thrilled that Toronto sold out and there 3!! shows there. I would have expected the bill sell-out concerts would have been closer to Boston, but it means a lot to us that you recognize our UNDYING LOVE OF THE NEW KIDS!!!
Thank you for this, it was funny and uplifting, and made me a little prouder of my heritage today. Maybe I’ll go buy some maple syrup or something.
LOVE YOU JOEY MAC!! You are fantastic!
CANADA LOVES YOU, KEW KIDS!!

Joe! I have to send you a gigantic ‘thank you!’. I was at the MMVA’s in TO and I think I was floating on cloud 9 the whole time. Honestly I was in LOVE with NKOTB(you being my favorite) for so many years and actually having the opportunity to meet you was a dream…and my dream came true when I happened to bump into you!! Thank you for stopping and letting me take a picture with you.
For a second I felt like that 12 year old prepubescent girl…just waiting for the radio to play your song, so that I could hear your sexy voice…meeting you was a dream(or MANY dreams) come true. I thought after 15 years of no NKOTB, a marriage and son later I would be over the obsession, but evedently I am not.
Thanks for bringing back all the young, innocent memories!
I already have tickets to 2 of your shows in Toronto and I MIGHT just MIGHT go to the 3rd…if it makes me feel the way I did at the MMVA’s it is totally worth it!
See you in Sept!
Ciao,
Carmi
June 19th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Joe! Has anyone ever told you you sort of look like Jason Priestley (yes from 90210!).
Oh Canada, we would love it if you moved here! Although my inital worry is that would you really be able to handle the chilly weather?! It gets as low as 40..;)
Watched the MuchMusic MMVA’s Sunday night, and you guys were fabulous! It’s great to see you guys reunited!! And you’re definately more stunning than Rihanna.
The single Click, Click, Click, is hot, hot, hot!

Hey Joe..Well you were 15 years ago, and still are now, my fave New Kid. I am from Toronto and yes, it might be a Toronto thing to name our pets after celebs. It’s more of a compliment really. My pet snapping turtle was named McIntyre..I was 13 what can I say. I’m 30 now and I still miss that damn turtle! However, can’t wait to see you guys in September at the A.C.C. in Toronto. It will be my third New kids show and finally one where I am not obliged to be accompanied by an adult

That’s funny, naming the pets after your idols.
Laid back lifestyle certainly sounds really great. I love living in US, too, but I think we’re trap in the rat race mentality.
Be seeing ya in Detroit in October. All the best to you and the rest.

I hope you can come to Mexico, here there are many fans of you guys, We´ll be very happy if we can see your show.
June 19th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Joey, you’re hilarious…I just got back from Quebec City and Montreal, and you’re right Canadians (especially Quebecois) are more laid back (I think that’s true for most European countries; Canada was founded by Europeans!).
Anyway, thank you for sharing the stories! You all must be having a blast! I haven’t named any pets after the New Kids, but I’m tempted now for the future…ha! I think you all are absolutely great! I have the reputation of bringing the rain, too. Anytime I have a party, especially outdoors, it rains! I am hoping for my 30th the rain will hold out:) I hope I get to see you soon, Joey! You’re a hoot….muah!
Love,

Joey you are too cute!! I have 7 fish tanks with about 100 different fish. If it meant getting a response or the opportunity to meet you, I would name every fish after eachof you, your children, your wives, your pets, parents, uncles, cousins, you name it, I’d do it. It just goes to show how much of an impact NKOTB has always had on their fans. The five of you together are magical. There will never be another group like NKOTB. THANK GOD YOU ARE BACK, just DON”T ever leave again. This is my daily wish.
Can’t wait to see you in Denver, 5* VIP.
Traci
Proud NKOTB fan!!
PS Joey, you grew into a FINE man, thanks for taking us along for the ride.
June 19th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
LOL heheh Nope never did that..
Although, weird..but my very first boyfriends name was Joey ( I never refer to you as Joey though…it’s just always been Joe..) anyway…really stupid ..but we both got each others name tatood on our bodies..so now I just say it’s for you. LOL
Thanks for giving us another blog so soon after Dannys. It was a surprise and a great one at that when I logged on today and saw something from YOU!:)
Joe, what am I gonna do in LA at the Staples Center? I want to take my pic with you in the VIP, but I haven’t met Jordan, Donnie or Jon..but I would feel like such a trader if I don’t stand with you! LOL Especially if I can’t get one with you some where else..(ie: hotel or something) cause I don’t have VIP for Vegas.
I know I will end up by you..lol it’s just gonna happen..Cause honestly, it’s always been about you for me, I love the rest of the guys, and I love the music etc. etc. but if you had never been a New Kid..and had always been solo, I still would have been your fan!
I have something special for Donnie though..that I’ll give him in LA, and you know I always bring you something, usually spend months on it.(Not sure if you remember the goodie bag that I gave to Eman to give to you at the Key Club in 2002 with the Starbucks card and ‘Top 25 Reasons to Love Joe Mac book’the guitar strap and other stuff.. Can’t wait to see ya in LA..and thank you for the giggle today!

I just can’t tell you guys how awesome it is that you’re really taking time out to connect with fans. It’s like we all have a new appreciation for eachother… in a weird way.
Thanks to Al Gore for inventing the internet since you guys went away… it’s made your reunion that much sweeter!
June 19th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Ok, so I was having a bad day at work and decide that I would check the website to see if that could cheer me up. After I read her blog I could not stop laughing. Thank you Joey for cheering me up and turning my bad day into a great day!!
June 19th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
LOL! Joe you are to funny. Sounds like you had a good laugh all that day. I have to say I asked my hubby if I can name my son after you. BUT he said NO every other person is named Joe. So we went with Isaiah! I thought it would be cute because my fist one is JJ so it fit. BUT thats ok I love Isaiah. LOL! Of course people live longer. LOL! I have to admit I never thought of a pet being named ofter you guys. TO CREEPY for my taste. LOL!
June 19th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Hi Joey! Thanks to all of you for your blogs. They’re a really fun way to hear your stories.
Anyhow, I’m not Canadian, but I have to confess - I named my firstborn son Jordan Nathaniel. My husband Nat obliged because he idolizes Michael Jordan, but those who know me know that Jordan was named after a New Kid. I told Jordan Knight that my son was named after him in person when I met him in San Francisco, CA in Dec 2005. I had met you in San Jose, CA in Dec 2006 and was pregnant. The following week, I found out the sex of the baby. I had a little girl, Jasmine Natylisa, but if it was another boy, it could have been Joseph or Jonathan. Yes, I love you guys that much!!
My kids LOVE the new song and video. My 1-year-old daughter gets this silly smile and starts bopping her head to the beat. It’s too cute!
I can’t wait to see you in San Jose on October 10.
Love you all!
Maryalisa
June 19th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
It might be a Canadian thing. I grew up in Oregon and I never named any pets after any of the New Kids. I never liked human names for animals.
The exception to this is that several years ago, my best friend purchased what she was told were two male gerbils. Turned out they were both female and both pregnant. She wound up with 13 gerbils and gave me the four males, who I named John, Paul, George and Ringo.
June 19th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Well, Mr. Joe, you made this hot, humid, sizzlin’ So. GA. day a little bit lighter. Seriously, you do have a fantastic personality and you do make me smile. Love it! I’ve never named a pet after any of you - but (kinda embarrassed to tell this-but hey) I do use (You Got it) The Right Stuff to help encourage my child to potty train. When he goes, we break out in song and dance—ANYHOOO! Wow! But, hey…for a mom who’s tried it all–this is working pretty well. Three days in a row now! Thanks NKOTB! Inspiration comes in many ways. See ya

Joe.. that was a great story!!

I’m from NY… so I only had pictures to look at of the show, you guys looked great, as per usual.
Yea, the rain seems to be your thing now, huh? Reminds me of a song of yours…
June 19th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
the dog story is definitely worthy of notice. guy next door named his dog my name 13 years ago–only because he liked the beer…i immediately hated him…don’t think i’d take a pic w/ his dog though. cracks me up that you’d put that on your blog tho’
June 19th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Hi Joe,
Loved your blog, In a post a while back, I mentioned that their should be NKOTB raincoats sold lol. I am glad that you had a nice time in Canada. You are rite the atmosphere is totally different then in the lovely U.S.

Hey Joe,
In response to your question about naming your pet after your fav New Kid and if it is a Toronto thing, NO! My family had a kennel where we put dogs in the dog shows etc, we had a litter of Keeshounds. They went very quickly to show homes except the smallest male, I asked if I could keep him and was allowed. His show name on the pedigree was “EASTLIN’S NEW KID ON THE BLOCK” and his home name was “Joey”. He may have been the smallest of the litter but he went on to beat out his litter mates in the ring and even took a BEST IN SHOW! Reminds me of someone elses story!
I’m soo happy you guys are coming to Canada!!! To tell you how VERY HAPPY I am, I cancelled my trip to Scotland! To everyone who knows me thats a huge deal! There is something about a highlander in a kilt!! Anyways, they don’t compare to seeing you! My best friend and I are flying from Nova Scotia and going to the Sept 21 concert in Toronto where we have a 5 STAR VIP package, but before we got those we had bought tickets in Boston so we will drive to Boston for the Sept 28th concert. When we see you and Donnie in Toronto we have a special gift for you guys “Nova Scotian” style!
Christine XoXOXOXoXO
P.S. Congrats on the new addition to your family!

I love that you like Canada so much! So, if the love flows easier here, why not come and see ALL of us? Please don’t leave it just for Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and Montreal. You deserve to feel the flow from all us (Winnipeg included)! And if you want to learn more from “O’Canada” I’d love to do the teaching, with respect! Joey Joe,
Haha, your blog was hysterical! I have to say though when naming pets…one of my cats is named Yawkey - for the Sox, Carrera for the car, and Prada for the desinger - all favorites but I’ve never named a pet after my fave New Kid…maybe next time haha. Glad to hear from you! I can’t wait to meet you in Boston in September. You have an awesome personality - don’t change! I love you guys!

Thanks for the blog, Joe! You really brightened my day
I hope your rehearsals won’t be so strict that you won’t be able to drop us a blog now and then, but I can’t wait to see what you guys have in store!
Also, uh, you realize Rihanna was born in 1988, right? You know, the year all of us here were becoming Blockheads? But I guess if you’re 7 years older than me and can have a little crush on her, I can feel a bit better about my *tiny* little crush on Zac Effron (who, by the way, is older than Rihanna).
Come back and blog again soon! I can’t wait to see you at the Izod Center!
Love to you and all the guys,
Katie
June 19th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Sorry for the double post, but while I have a chance, can I request that you get yourself a Facebook page? Us girls born in the 70s are not always on MySpace.
Danny and Jordan are on there. Come on Joe! I want to be able to add you to my friends!

Hi Joey. Thanks for blogging. Its really cool to hear your thoughts on things. I must be one of the only guys on here so far. lol I don’t mind. I grew up listening to you guys when I was like 12 or 13. You guys made so many classic tunes….timeless really.
Anyway, yeah , thanks for coming to T.O. I live just outside of the city and couldn’t make it to the show, but I love the Much Music Video Awards. You get to see all the bands from the street even if you don’t snag a wristband for access. I saw your performance on YouTube and I must say, you guys did great and looked very good up there. I wasn’t sure what to think of the reunion and this set the record straight: you guys are back for real. Right on. Alright Joe, God Bless and I hope this tour is something apecial for you. Peace.

Hahahaha I am loving this blog post. This reminds me of the good old days on joeymcintyre.com with your blogs from the road (I’m still waiting on some new video blogs from all five of you!). I never named any pets after you guys but I did have the JOEYMAC license plate. Nicknamed my car after you too (”The Joe Mac Mobile”). My new truck is currently free of any NKOTB references, but if you guys put out a bumper sticker or window decal, watch out. I will have to rock that on the road here in Michigan.
As you can see… the craziness is not only in Canada. lol
Love you guys majorly, please post blogs often to keep us in the loop til concert time!
June 19th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
I must say that joe you have the gift to put a smile on anyone’s face. I truely love all of you guys from the bottom of my heart, and thank you more than you will ever know for entering this hectic ride once more. While I havn’t named an animal after you, my youngest son’s middle name is Jonathan. But don’t worry, just because I am a Jon girl it doesn’t mean that I don’t dig all 5 of you. Can’t wait to see you on tour, and for the record I am an American.

There has been alot of talk about you guys reuniting and touring, please don’t forget about your fans in Saskatchewan. It would be so awesome if you guys came back to Saskatoon, SK.. I was there for the concert when you guys were there and that was Nov. 3, 1990. I still remember that because that was my only concert I got to see you.. And I was 11.
So it would be awesome if you guys did make a tour date for Saskatoon.. Hoping anyways.. .

June 19th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
OMG!! That is so hilarious and it’s so not just a “Toronto thing”!! That’s a “blockhead thang”!! I named my pets after you guys!! My siamese cat was named Jordan because he was always so mysterious about what he was up to. I had another cat named Joey-Joe because he was so mischievious!! I also had a sharpei like Jon did, and I gave him the same name he gave his dog. Ahhhh those were the days!! OMG the poor hamster lmao!! Thanks for giving me such a great laugh today. I needed it. Today’s my birthday and I had exams all day and so it was not a great day!! Plus I’m getting so old!! I just turned 34 and I will not admit it to anyone else lol. Love ya Joey, and the rest of you guys

Hey Joe,
Well I can honestly say that I have never named a pet after you. You were, however, my make believe husband. No one ever came close to you. I had you plastered all over my room, and there has never been anyone like you since. I was 13 when we moved from New York to Oregon, and sad to say, none of my pictures of you survived. Except, of course, the framed ones. However, those were soon shattered by my brothers head when he and my other brother were wrestling, in my room!!! I was devestated. But, alas, I still had my Hangin’ Tough, and Step by Step video tapes. And my fan book. And some of the trading cards. And the bedding. I no longer have any of that, except my video’s. Which I cherish just about more than anything else that I own. It has been MY dream since I was about 10 years old to actually get to see you live. And I finally will. I cannot even begin to thank you all enough for getting back together. This is seriously so huge to me. I am happily married now, after about 10 years I realized that I never was actually going to get the chance to marry you, and we have a beautiful 8 year old daughter. She knows all of you by face, and has since she was about 4. She was almost as excited as I was when the reunion rumors began floating around. She won’t be coming with me to the concert, this is too much MY dream to bring her. Thank you soo soo much for making my dream a reality. I will see you in Portland, OR! Can’t wait!!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
I read your blog and just had to sign up to comment. You are way too funny! LMAO!!!!
Thank you for bringing a smile to my day. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see your October show in LA.
June 19th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I wasn’t quite old enough to name my pets after my favourite New Kids back in the day. In 1991 I was six years old and grappling with boys vs. cooties and naming my pets fluffy and/or sparky. Now that I’m twenty-three, I’m old enough to know better and not be a complete creeper. Fluffy is a classic, come on!
After your visit to Toronto, in your wake, you’ve left us with a weeks worth of rain. Thanks for the show & the frizzy hair. I look forward to seeing you guys Sept 19th @ the ACC.

Hi Joey,
(I know kinda strange…I was young ok). I wish there was a way I could post the pics on here but, just wanted to share. By the way, you guys were looked great! All the ladies in the newsroom were so excited to see you guys! Glad you’re back.
That is too funny, my friend emailed me on facebook to tell me that she thinks you were talking about my dog Jordan on here. Sure enough you were. I was working that night (in the Citytv newsroom) and when I was leaving. I was watching you guys rehearse. I first got Jordan’s pic taken with Johnathan and then Jordan, they were both very sweet to do that. I was leaving to go home the same time you guys were headed for your limo. It might have been you but I’m not sure who said “did you know Jessica Simpson named her dog Jordan too?” LOL I thought that was hilarious. I actually was a huge fan of you guys back in the day and still think you guys are great (I’m your age now) but, I actually named him after another popular Jordan…Michael Jordan even though he’s a white fluffy dog
Celine and Jordan (the now famous pup) from Toronto

OMG, thats just too hilarious. Thanx for the laughs and I cant wait for you guys to come to NJ! :oD

I love your blogs, always makes me laugh! I guess naming things after your fave new kid must be a fan thing, because I’m from Ohio, and When I was a freshman in high school, I had a gold fish named Joey-Joe. One morning, I woke up and he was belly up! I cried and cried… over a gold fish?? I was just crazy about you! I wanted to name my son Joseph, but my then husband shot me down… he knew what was up! Trying to get a ticket to Cleveland!! Hope to see you there
June 20th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Joey, that’s hilarious, you just made my day!!! Thank you! I assure you that I never did and never will name any pets after neither you nor Jordan!
Lots of love from Germany (how about coming here and check out if the clichés are true?)
Joy
June 20th, 2008 at 12:57 am
Joe, you are such a nut, LOL. All kinds of animals, & of course, children have been named after you guys & not just in Canada. There are both boys & girls named Jordan. Personally I like it best as a male name.
I’m surprised you think Canadian fans are more laid back considering the thread about you guys going out to a club there & the fans went so crazy that Jon left. They were worried you might cancel the tour being afraid of the crazy fan behavior..which I thought was worrying too much. I think you’ve seen it all & age hasn’t calmed a lot of fans down & I doubt that’d surprise you. So you can see why I’m so surprised by your blog.I think you are in love with travel. I remember back in the day you saying how slim the European fans are compared to us US fans (shame on you! LOL )…You need to appreciate your home grown fans more or we’re going to think you don’t value us much. WE love you & if some fans go overboard, it’s just that they care so much. We are proud you are an American band :). Glad you enjoyed the trip & our sister fans! Just remember it was the good old USA that made the NKOTB the huge success they became. ALL of your fans love NKOTB !!! Lots of love, Gail
June 20th, 2008 at 1:15 am
Mr McIntyre!
You think naming a dog or a hamster is odd, I thought at 13 that you would find me in Nottingham, England and whisk me away and we would live happily ever after……now that is bloody mad!
Your a funny guy and I like your posts - keep em coming!
I don’t wanna marry you anymore (lucky you) but I do want you and the others over to the UK soon! So please give us a sign you will be visiting the UK! Visit us in the UK Blockheads thread - tho I warn you now, you will have to grow a Rat Tail/Tail Braid or as we lovingly call them, a “MULLET”!
Get the to the UK please!
Cheers Sara77 xxx

So….. I have this pet llama. I named it Joerdanonthananannyonnie SMITH the THIRD (the other two passed away due to unfortunate llama racing accident).
Joerdanonthananannyonnie SMITH the THIRD is a great pet it spits whenever we play your music for it..hence the name.
OK I lied.
I have a cat named Tiger.
June 20th, 2008 at 3:18 am
I’m in Chicago and my dog’s name is Dexter P. Obviously not just a Toronto thing!
June 20th, 2008 at 4:49 am

Thanks so much for showing Canada some love….we love you guys!!!
Muahh…XOX
June 20th, 2008 at 5:11 am
Joey!!! Do you see how much Toronto loves you? Okay so some of us have gone to the extreme of naming their pets (and perhaps other objects…lol) after you guys, but that’s a little way of reminding us and you! that we will never forget how much you boys really do mean to us!!!
Cannot until September when you kick off your tour in the T-dot! I’ll be at 2 of your shows!!!
June 20th, 2008 at 5:16 am
One of my cats was named Kid, he was born in 1990…
June 20th, 2008 at 5:22 am
I’m also from Canada (Québec), by the way, haha!
June 20th, 2008 at 5:36 am
Joey, you are too funny! I think I may have named some fish after you guys. I don’t currently have any pets with your namesake, but you never know what the future holds.
June 20th, 2008 at 5:48 am
WOW!! JOE YOU HAD ME LAUGHING SO HARD MY DAUGHTER ASKED ME ” MOMMY WHY ARE YOU CRYING”? I COULDNT STOP LAUGHING CUZ I NAMED MY GUINEA PIG AFTER YOU… I CALLED HIM JOEY.. I KNOW IT SOUNDS CORNY BUT I LOVE MY NKOTB!!!! HEY I WAS 13 AND IN LOVE WITH JOEY JOE… I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE ALL OF YOU IN MILWAUKEE.. LOVE ALL OF YA GUYS FOREVER :-}
June 20th, 2008 at 5:57 am
OK, I admit, I named my hamster D.J., because all the names of the members of NKOTB started with a D or a J! Well, and D.J. was my favorite character on Full House, but it was mostly for NKOTB! I was 13, what can you do? It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who did that! Can’t wait to see you guys in St. Louis!!!!
June 20th, 2008 at 6:21 am
I think I was 13 too! Now our husbands are looking at us like we are crazy because we are neglecting dinner on the stove and replaying a you tube video 13 times while the kids need our attention! Summertime just got more interesting. At 13 we never thought it could get better. And now they are all grown up and appealing to a group of gals with the buying power in a day and age when they’re showing alot more skin on MTV… I mean VH1… they don’t play videos on MTV anymore.
The teens on You Tube are commenting… “They look like old pervs” Or “They’re so mature”
They just don’t even know….
June 20th, 2008 at 6:24 am
Still can’t beleive you guy’s are back. I feel like a teenybobber again. I love reading all the blog’s you write. By the way, LOVE the video. Keep the stories coming. Can’t wait to see you in Cleveland!!!!! I had a dog named Tigger once if that matters!!!!
June 20th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Joe,
All I have to say is you are hilarious!!!! I love hearing the stories and it was great to start off the day with a good laugh. It’s good to know that you get some good laughs from the fans too. Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago. Please come to Indy, Louisville, or Cincy!!!!!
Love,
Mo

Hi,
I am from Portugal, and I think this is just our way to say that, even after 14 years, we still care.
I was 16 when I first listen to your music, and now I am 34 and I didn’t stop listen to your music.

Thanks so much for showing Canada some love…we love you guys!!!

June 20th, 2008 at 8:09 am
Forgot how funny you guys are. Loved the performance at the MMVA’s. Was like old times staying up after my bed time to watch your performance….
And YES Toronto is the best place ever. That’s why I had to move back after 7 years….
Do think Hamsters were the popular thing back then and of course we have to name them after you guys…. Joey Mac and the other one was Jordan…. Not to worry to the rest of the guys. Friends also had Hamsters so Donnie, Danny and Jon were there too….. LMAO
You guys have to release that mix you have for “The Right Stuff”, great beats.
All your radio interviews Monday (The morning after????LOL) were great you guys sound closer then ever.
Cant wait for the show in September (09/12/08), so looking forward to it.
Happy to have you all back!
Kelly xx

I am so excited for your tour! I was hopelessly in love with you in 5th grade but my parents could not afford to send me to your Alpine Valley (WI) show and I was heartbroken as only a 5th grade girl can be. Going to your show in Philly in Nov (with a large group of fellow law students who loved NKOTB back in the day) will bring back so many memories and make me feel like a silly little girl again. Now if I could only dig up some of those old NKOTB trading cards…
June 20th, 2008 at 8:16 am
Glad you had a good time, but dont forget the love when you are back home in Boston. I will be the crazy insane girl (I know I wont be the only one…LOL)in Floor Section D!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha!!

Just a note, not about my pets, (my cat’s name is Putin), but I work with a guy named Joe McIntire. Swear it’s true. When he started the first day I mentioned to him his familiar name to me and can you believe he had never heard of the New Kids or that he shared Joey’s name?!? I thought he must be kidding, but no way. So of course I filled him in, revealing my overwehlming devotion as a blockhead. He is maybe too young to have been swept up in the initial hype, but now he is starting to get it. Now he just thinks I’m a nut. There are worse things to be. I just love that all of you have returned. We have waited too long. Love you all, Mary
June 20th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Joey, your post was fresh and funny! It would be great if you could continue posting these entries of what you encounter on the road. Who knows…maybe it’s a journal/book in the making??
Thanks for making me laugh.
Best,
Audrey
June 20th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Joey, your blog made my day! That was hilarious! Thanks for sharing. I have to admit I renamed my cat BOE after I heard that’s your dogs name. I don’t know if you ever had a dog with that name, but I read it in some magazine back in the days… and suddenly Grey became Boe…
Thanx for keeping in touch with us!
Love & blessings

I named a hamster Donnie when I was 10. My grandmother took him to her school for a week and he ran away. Wild bad hamster.
I would like to think that after hitching hiking for months, he’s out in L.A., living the hamster dream. He’s trying to get into acting but nobody will take him seriously because he’s just a model for hamster magazines and food packaging.
Love the blogs guys! <3!
June 20th, 2008 at 11:17 am
That’s why I love you Joe…you can always make me smile….my favorite thing to do =) I’m really happy that you’re feeling the reunion, I can’t wait to see you in Boston on 9/26 & in Ft. Lauderdale on 11/1.
June 20th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Yes, it’s easy to forget the impact performers can have on everyone!!! including naming animals, etc after you guys.
Being a fellow performer,(not as popular as you) i admire that all of you still make the time and put forth the effort to get these blogs out! Kudos to you

Hey Joe!I’m glad you and the guys had a good time!
That is some interesting stuff to hear about O’Canada.
The stories about the people was cool!My heart
goes out to that girl who lost her pet.
I know the feeling of that all to well.
Thanks for writitng,Peace:)
June 20th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Joe, you are 2 funny! Thanks for always making us laugh! Unfortunately, I’ve never had any pets, but to name them after my fave New Kid…hmmm, note to self. Thanks for sharing and I’m looking forward to seeing you guys in L.A. and Vegas!
June 20th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Hmmm, crazy. Ok, I’m going to a New Kids concert which rocks so hard core, its not even funny. I think maybe people name pets after their fav stars because then they get to say their name a lot? Hahaha. If it were me, I’d buy a galliant steed and name it…no.
I can’t wait until September 18. Sweeeeeeet.
Haha. Toronto thing? Maybe. We’re an eclectic bunch.
June 20th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
MY LITLLE JOE-JOEY.
It is wonderful read you, I am in nostalgia full day, I was listening your song “I cried” and I have change to reading your blog; back my soul to me. Thank you for your funny words. Then I click to “stay the same” how biggest is this song and in your voice: is glory!! I am counting the days to see you again since 1992 (much time ago), and curious I will travel from Mexico city to Toronto, Canada to got it (talking about Canada). Really, you don’t know what you get in my self. Thank you very much.
Listening, reading or looking about you; change my darkest day to brightest day. I have been following your music steps; you are the best singer of all the times in all over the world.
And I think this new album have a great professional work from the five, I remember face the music, is an excellent album; the lyrics, the music, the kids of course! But I know you are better than each day and I thank you this so much. You deserve everything and all; you are hard fighters for your dreams, a great example to follow.
Summertime is an award for us, and click click click; is the perfect description of my feeling for you. I proud to be a new kids on the block fan since 1991, but it will be better if I could be your friend.
First God, I’ll see you on 09-18th.
P.S God blesses you.
Sincerely; karferfs@yahoo.com.mx (Karen)
June 20th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
That is so hilarious Joe! When we were younger, me and my sister got two kittens. She named hers Jordan and I named mine Joey Joe. Mine lived longer and is still my favorite pet to this day!! I am so deeply excited about your comeback. I have always been a loyal fan, and I can’t wait to see you in Texas!! I’ll be at the Houston and San Antonio shows.
June 20th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
OMG
Funny story from old school NKOTB time:
My friend and I used to go to the beach and when we met horrifying guys we did not want to hang with or know our names, we would call each other Joe (I was Joe because I love Joe) and Jordan (Beth was Jordan, you can figure the reason). So these guys would see us later and try to get our attention by yelling “Hey Joe and Jordan, can we buy you drinks?” Of course we would ignore them. Anyway, I look forward to seeing how nicely you guys have grown.
Love you
June 20th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Joey your blog was hilarious. I was lol’ed for real. I’d like to hear you say “aboot” and “eh” w/ your boston accent!
June 20th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
You are too funny!
I can’t wait to meet all of you on the 18th!! I dunno if it is a toronto thing, we personally named our turtle after a tmnt…but u kno…it sort of fits.
I’ll tell you a funny story though if you want strange things to talk about.
I couldn’t make it to the mmva’s. It was the weekend of my sisters wedding… and I was already emotionally drained. Anyhow, when you guys came on…
