NEW BLOG from JOEY MAC!

I guess when I was 16, every now and again I would think, “wow! I am amazing…” or “I did hit that step in an extraordinary fashion…” Its easy to do when you have tens of thousands of people every night screaming your name. Luckily, I never fell into that trap long enough to believe that I was bigger than all of it. Now as an adult, those thoughts never come close to my ego. It’s not about me. Its not about the New Kids. Its about the relationship between us and the fans. The love that it represents is powerful and evidently ever lasting. I am grateful to be a part of it. I had the thought that I would have been just as happy in the crowd at the Kiss Concert watching the New Kids as being up there. There was so much love in that moment that I didn’t care what part I played in it. It just felt good to rejoice over something together with so many people. That being said it was incredible from my perspective.
Everything has gone perfectly. When I look back on The Today Show performance, it just wouldnt have felt right if it didn’t rain. ( I’m sure that the amazing people that showed up for us would beg to differ… “sunny and 70 degrees would have been perfect too, Joe”). When we did that last interview on the stand in the middle of the crowd… Whoa! Another wave of “I thought what we had back in the day was special, but this is crazy!”
This ride has really just begun. We’re gonna have some good times :)
I’m really excited to put this live show together. What a gift to have such a challenge. I say challenge because although its so much fun, we take it very seriously. We want to put on the show of your life time.
Probably the most often said thing from our fans I hear is ” you guys were my first concert!” And thats a very special milestone to behold and be a part of. We cherish that and want to take that to another level x 20.
We’ll keep you posted. Hopefully, you guys will listen and agree with every amazing idea I have :)

Hi, Joey! Thank you soooo much for the blog. NKOTB was my first concert back in 1990; if you knew how strict my parents were, you would be extremely honored that they allowed me to go (of course they were there too:) I’m so happy to hear that this experience is good for you, too! I know this has been quite the thrill for me…your reunion almost seems divine in my life, which sounds a bit idiotic, but it’s very true. Being able to revisit a time when I was full of joy is something not to be taken for granted. I can’t thank you, the rest of the New Kids, and your families for the willingness to come back to all of this chaos. The music is what it’s about as well as this connection with us fans:)

The fans are definitely enjoying it! I think you’re right, this is going to be an amazing experience! I really think this will be the best!!!!! I just hope I get to go to my second NKOTB concert soon!!!! I have to wait for a Nashville, Knoxville, or Charlotte show (shameless begging I know!).

Again, thank you for the sweet blog, and the music is going to be fabulous, the shows will be energetic, and the experience will be priceless for all of us! There is a lot of love, and we’re glad you feel it because we do to! I think having the technology adds to the “closeness” we all feel. It’s a beautiful little New Kids family! Take care, God bless, and I can’t wait to experience the live show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Much love & many blessings, Kimberly, Bristol, VA

  7. JOEYlicious Says:

    Oh JOEY,
    ur blog is so wonderful!
I wish I´d have a bit more money to come to the states and to see u performe live. But I don´t have so I have to hope u guys will come to europe.
And I SWEAR that I´ll be there!!!
    U know why, Mr. JoeMac?!?!
Coz I´ll be loving u guys forever and u make me keep on smiling! :)

  8. vendulka Says:

I couldn’t say you were my first concert but I so hope I’ll be able to say “You were my best concert EVER!”
    Really can’t wait.

And thanx for everything you all did so far - every new tune, every new blog, picture or video always brightens up my day.

    Take care,
    Vendulka

  9. Helens_zone Says:

    Hey Joey :)

Thank you for blogging again. It means so much to us! I am unfortunately unable to say that you were my first concert…I was 14 when you first came to the UK in 1989 and 16 when you last toured - I was alone in my fandom and at that age, my folks wouldn’t allow me to go to concerts on my own. I was hoping I’d get to see you in ‘94 but then you guys split up :(

I’m just “keeping my fingers crossed” that you guys do come to the UK so that I can say you were my best ever concert even though I can’t say you were my first! I’m so damn excited that you guys are back doing all this, and that the internet now exists so I can keep up with what you’re doing and watch the performances you’ve done so far! And I CAN’T WAIT for you guys to visit the UK.

Thanks again for the blog Joey…19 years have passed and you STILL rock my world :)

  10. Lena Says:

    Joe,

I’d have so much to tell you, but every time I try to write, all the words seem to vanish from my head. I guess it seems there’s nothing I could say that you haven’t already heard.
So, as my words are already gone by now, what else can I say? Ok, I’ll be repetitive this time. You guys are doing great. This reunion is the best gift you could ever give to us, fans. THANK YOU and congratulations on everything! We can feel how serious you are about this, and how hard you’re working to make this happen the best way possible. And, as I said on Donnie’s last blog, we’ll always be there for you, no matter what, no matter where we are or where you are. I wish you guys, from my heart, all the best, always.

    Love,

    Lena

  11. Donna-b02 Says:

    Hey Joey Joe,

It is real great to hear from your side of how you see Us, your fans and the emotions you all feel while experiencing such a blessed life. I know it’s probably a long shot….though would Australia be on the cards for a Tour? My kids would join me in going, along with my friends who are fellow Blockheads.

    Lv and Luck Always

  12. IcyTears Says:

Hi Joe! Thanks so much for your post! I can honestly say NKOTB was my first concert! I was only 13 when I became a fan, and 14 when I went to my first concert, and my overprotective parents thought I was too young even then, but they finally let me go :) With my mom, but at least I got to go. lol

  13. froggett Says:

    Hey Joey,

Thanks for your blog, to let us see that you’re enjoying it as much as we do! Love you, always!

Wait for you in Paris, France but I’d go anywhere in Europe to see you! And you’ll be my son’s (he’s 4) 1st concert most probably

    Take care

  14. lac1975 Says:

You weren’t my first concert, rather my second. But y’all were definitely the best! Looking forward to the next being y’all again. I am enjoying this so much. I just want to say thank you.
    Lori

  15. rockergirl Says:

If the concert is anything near the small taste from Zootopia the fans will love it! And, I am sure we will! I know I can hardly wait for more to come! The summer is a long time and I feel like a kid again wishing away time, except instead of wanting the school year to be gone, I want the summer to fade away. :) We know you guys are working hard and the effort will pay off in the end. So far, we love all that you’ve done…no reason for that to change!

Blessings to you & your family!

  16. JessicaK - NL Says:

    Hi Joe!

Thanx for your beautiful words! I have to agree with Kimberdancer: the technology these days is a BIG PLUS!!!! I mean, in the “old days” you would hear stuff like 2 weeks later in some mag. But now you go online, and we get to see the shows and interviews within hours after the fact!!!! This makes it all so intense and ‘family-like’! I feel closer to the fans and the New Kids then ever…I know that might sound silly, but it’s true. I’m enjoying every minute off it, and it’s GREAT to know you guys do too!
Did I hear you give a shout out to Griffin at the Boston show?! That’s sooooo sweet!!!! I bet he’s grown alot. My youngest daughter, Zoey (yes…quilty!), is 1,5 and they grow up so fast! Enjoy him whenever you can, before you know it they are in school (like my eldest Jennifer, she’s turning 7 this year!!! OMG…)!
Ok, enough with the personal stuff… I hope NKOTB will come over to Europe!! We are really looking forward on seeing all 5 of you again. Maybe I’ll bring Jenn, she really wants to come…but I don’t know yet. It’s kinda…”my thing”, if you know what I mean. Just me and the Dutchies…hangin’ tough with the New Kids! SEE YA!!!! Joe Mac’s in tha House! Oh yeah…
    *hugs* Jessica”K” - NL

    Oh God… I better not cry…

It’s been an amazing ride so far… even from thousand of miles away on the other end of the world. No matter how much we can thank you, it’s never enough to show how much we love and appreaciate what has happenned so far!

As everyone else, I’m also lost for words. Thank you for you heartfelt blog. You guys are doing great and with each new blog, each show, each song we are loving you more and more each day. :D

You’re all always in my prayers… All the best in all you do, always. :)

    I’ll still be loving you,

What is it with you guys and these blogs?!
You all always say just the right thing and manage to bring some of us to tears.
Well, This year will be my first NKOTB concert. I couldn’t be more exicted. I was watching the video for “The Right Stuff” and while sitting there it hit me…”I am finally going to see you guys live!”
Besides my children being born, I cant imagine a happier moment.
I have waited 19 years for this…and I was tired of waiting. LOL.

Thank you guys for doing this and letting us experience it with you all over again.

  23. anilam18 Says:

Yet again I get tears in my eyes from reading a blog. And this time it’s from the man I have loved since I was 12. Thank you Joe for your special words. They are very heartfelt, we can feel the love from all over the world. I am so looking forward to this amazing ride. I have loved every second of it so far and I am so glad I have been here from the beginning. I was at the Today show and although, yes, it would have been nice to have 70 and sunny, I agree with you that something about it raining made it even more special.

Thank you, thank you and thank you again for being such wonderful men (especially you Joe!) and truly appreciating your fans. I believe that is one reason why we all have an enduring love for you guys. And thank you for coming back and giving us another ride at a time in all our lives that we could really use it!

    HUGS and KISSES!!!

  24. NKOTB_Addict77 Says:

    Joey,

You weren’t my first concert, but it was the first one where I got to choose the band, I paid for the tickets, and I went without adult supervision. I felt like such a grown up — and you guys made it all worth it.

I have to admit, initially, I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to do the whole concert thing this time around, but you guys have really shown me how authentic and “for-the-fans” you are. I would just kick myself if I missed this concert — especially since I live in one of the towns where you will be performing. I can’t wait to see you.

    Deborah

  25. NinaG Says:

First I must apologise for my very bad one in English. I come from Germany and my school hours already are for a while.

3 weeks ago I have found out that NKOTB have got together again as a Band and play musik again. My first reaction: I have cried – for hours! I am totally inspired and now I could start again! At that time, unfortunately, to the Germany concerts I could not go, because I was still too young and nobody wanted to go with me together to the concert.

Now I hope that the music hits in Germany again like a flash and soon gives to hear it completely a lot from NKOTB in Germany and to see. During the last 13 years I have wished every year in New Year’s Eve that NKOTB play musik again. And, finally, it is had become!!!!

I love you – NKOTB and every fan who has never stopped being a fan!

  26. Maria Says:

    Good luck and take care,

  30. newkids4ever Says:

NKOTB was my first 6 concerts and I will never forget them! 32. jmj8829 Says:

Amazing! You guys are absolutely amazing. You were my first and second co concert. You were actually my first concert that I camped out 2 nights in order to get great seats just to see you up close. I was fortunate enough to meet you and Donnie when I was 14 years old. My grandmother at 80 years old tells the story of her ambushing you two while you were trying to eat just so I could meet you in Knoxville, TN (so sorry she did this). The best part of this story is that it caused my girls to start asking questions about the group and wanting to hear your songs! Now….they have fallen in love with Joey Mac the same way I did “back in the day”. My 11 year old watches old videos from concerts, news interviews, and anything else she can find on the internet just to find out more about you and the rest of the guys. These girls get me so tickled every night. In one weeks time they both have all of your songs on their ipod. The best part is watching and listening to my 6 year old running around the house with her ipod on - just as loud as it can be singing Please Don’t Go Girl at the top of her lungs. I would love to say that NKOTB would be their first concert too but I had to endure the Cheetah Girls two years ago and just missed Hannah Montana by the skin of my teeth. I will be taking the two of them to see you guys in either Atlanta or Cleveland and I can’t wait to see the look in thier eyes when they see all five of you on stage for the first time. Thank you guys for giving me the joy again to experience this all over and to experience the “hype” as a mother watching my girls react the same way I did. I just don’t know how patient they will be to wait until October!
And on another note - I am so happy for you guys. The reception you have received is overwhelming for me. I could only imagine what it must feel like to experience this in your shoes. You all deserve every bit of the love from the fans that you are receiving. God bless all of you and your families.

  33. mlskitten74 Says:

the new kids on the block was my first concert and i will never forget it. i can’t wait to see them again. my little 6 year old daughter loves “summertime” too. she tries to sing along with the song. thank you

  34. jumpnj Says:

I was actually never able to see the New Kids back in the day. When New Kids were performing at the time I was 10-14 and my parents would never take me. Unfortunately, the concert cherry was popped back when I was 15 or 16 when my parents wanted to see an artist in Branson, MO and I was bored as hell. So now at 28 I still hadn’t found a concert I was willing to go to, until now. I love the new sound and can’t wait to see New Kids in Chicago.

  35. Isa Says:

    Hi Joe,

    thanks for posting again :-)
I wish I could have been present at the Today Show, I saw the videos and I can say that it was really great!!
I’m so happy that you have got back together and I hope to see you soon in Europe :-)
You will be my very first concert and I’m proud of it.
I know you guys take this challenge very seriously, we can see it and I must say that your new songs are beautiful!
It always makes me smile when I hear you saying that it was incredible to see how much fans you still have :-) It’s normal because you’re all unique to us. I really think your reunion will be a huge success
Thanks again for this beautiful dream that has come true!

  36. jusgirl20 Says:

    Joe-
I want to thank you so much for everything! NKOTB was my first concert :) I am so glad that you guys are back. This means so much for me and the fans. My prayers has been answered! I can’t see you and the rest of the guys when ya’ll head to Texas (Dallas show). What’s so funny Joe is that I am a married woman with twin girls acting like a 12 year old…haha I probably be acting like that when I go to your concert! Haha I’m going to feel sorry for my friends :o) Just wanted to let you know that you mean A LOT to me and I am forever graceful for everything you do. Thank you guys for doing this and letting us experience it with you all over again!!!

    Love-

  37. Joy78 Says:

    Joe,
Thank you so much for your post, it came in just at the right time of the day!
I can also say you were my first concert, in Germany in 1991, and I hope it won’t be too long until the second time. After all I’ve seen and heard in the past weeks, I’m convinced it will be the show of my lifetime ;) Thanks so much for everything!

    Love, Joy :)

  38. Liz79 Says:

    Hi Joe!
Thank you for writing another blog, it’s so exciting to read your thoughts about everything that happens right now. :) You guys were my first concert back in Stockholm, -91. You were also my second in Gothenborg the same year. I really wish I could say you will be my next concert, that is if you make it to Sweden this tour. Anyway, I’m sure you are going to put together an amazing show!!
    Love, Elisabet

  39. mdillon77 Says:

    Joe,

Not my first concert….but definitely the best! That was in 89. Followed by a second NKOTB concert in 89….and then again by the Magic Summer concert in 1990. To this day, that remains a very magical summer for me! That was the closest I ever got to meeting any of you…I had 10th row seats and made it to the stage and touched Donnie and Jordan. I am going (hopefully) to your Dallas show, but with 4 kids, I’ll be doing good just to get tickets.
At 31, I still find myself getting very defensive when people talk badly about NKOTB…it’s amazing how quickly I can become 11 again :-)

I hope this experience is as incredible for you guys as it is for us fans!!!

    Love,
    Marcy

But for now LOL, I can only keep myself composed online, in person I still go crazy like a 17 year old girl.

    We’ll love you guys forever

    Jen

    Joe-
I want to thank you so much for everything! NKOTB was my first concert I am so glad that you guys are back.

    Love-
    Sarah

as always … We are happy with the come back, is still incredible everything that is happening, as every little thing that happens affects our lives and change it positively …

    thanks once again …

and … we expect them in South America xD

god bless you and your family …

  52. allisonbp Says:

    Joe,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write for us. You must know that even now (as we did back in the day) we hang on every word and every detail of information we can get on ya’ll!

It warms my heart to know that you feel this connection too and that it’s not just us crazy fans! There is something special there. It’s almost as if you guys have this bond with your fans that is not typical of other musical groups. You really care for us and we care for you. We love you guys so much and we are so happy that YOU’RE happy. We love seeing you together again, making music, goofing off, just being friends again.

You didn’t have to do this reunion. You were successful enough the first time around and you all have had success as indivduals. We really feel like you are doing it for us fans and that is an incredible feeling. Thank you Joe.

…and NKOTB was my first concert, I was 15. :)

    Love,
    Allison

    HHi Joe,

I love that this go round we have the internet - blogs are great!

I was a t the TOday Show (back left stage - don’t get me started) and I couldn’t hear a word you all were saying. When I got home and watched it and heard what you said about the fans it brought me to tears. And now - this blog - and more tears. My husband ( a hater ) likes to tell me that you guys don’t care about the fans - well I know he’s wrong. THanks Joe!

I’ll be seeing you in East Rutherford, Las Vegas, Houston, San Antonion, Dallas, and Tampa in the fall.

    God Bless,

    Amanda

  54. ktsummer Says:

    Hi Joe,
I’m so happy to read that you guys could feel our love and energy at the Today show. That’s exactly why I went. Even though after waiting for 10 hours I could only see you guys through the angled viewfinder of my camera (which I had to hold way up in the air so all the rain water ran down my sleeves, so, yeah, 70 and sunny would have been nice), I didn’t care. I was there for kind of the same reason you go to a wedding. You want the people in front of you to be surrounded with love and support, even if they don’t see you personally.

I can’t wait to see you guys close up at the Izod center in September, and I really really can’t wait to hear the new album!

Thank you guys so much for coming back!
    Katie

  55. Jenni Says:

    Joe,

There is nothing better than waking up and reading a blog from you Joey! You brought tears to my eyes just like Donnie’s blog did. You are right, there is an intense love between you guys and us the fans. You were my first crush and my first concert!! I was 14 yrs old when I fell hard for NKOTB!! I think I have fallen harder for you guys this time around….if that is possible. Being at the Today show was an amazing experience and I was right there when you were on that platform…..your right it was crazy…intensely crazy!!! I could feel the love and see the looks of amazement on your faces. It was a moment I will NEVER forget!!

Thanks for this incredible reunion! Thanks for being who you are Joe! You stole my heart at 14 and you will always have a special place in my heart. I am looking forward to..no I am incredibly excited about seeing you guys in Texas! I will be there at all three concerts! If I could I would be at all your concerts but I guess one trip to NYC and running around TX will have to be enough for now.

Oh, and I think the rain was perfect in some way I can’t explain….I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way now that I look back on it.

    Love always,
    Jenni (aka Joey4ever)

  56. marymac Says:

Yes NKOTB were my first concert also and i had the pleasure of meeting you in 1998 the best news i heard that you were getting back together.

  57. jcchase4 Says:

    WOW! JM!
You were my first concert when I was 12 in 1990, I actually went to two of your concerts in Massachusetts.

You were great at the Today Show (from what I saw behind the stage :) I went home and bragged that we “locked eyes” during your interview on stage when you were facing the back of the stage (even though there were 100 girls in front of me ;) though its a nice thought to have.

    See you in D.C.

I’m so glad you guys are back! We all missed you!

  58. coach-corrie-in-florida Says:

You were my first concert too! Thank you for the kind words Joey - you all made life so much fun - and I felt like you were in my living room each day as I watched my NK Videos. This reunion extravaganza makes me feel like a kid again….YEAH THE BLOCK IS BACK! :-)

Your Today Show left me speechless….Your NEW KIDS FLORIDA FANS are on their way to BEANTOWN to see you live….in September….can’t wait for the show.

Best of Luck to you all in your new adventure - your fans are STILL here, cheering you on and looks like we are never going anywhere - you guys ROCK!

I am honored to be a part of this RIDE and I cannot wait to see what you have in store for us! I am up for anything!!

Thanks for blogging again, Joe! You guys are all so sweet, and almost TOO humble! Jordan used to ask whether we’d be lovin’ you guys forever…we all said yes and MEANT IT! :) I was at all three shows and met you at Macy’s and it was an unbelievably great weekend. And, Joe, you were particularly great — what a moment with you and hat with no top at the Today Show! :D Hope you guys will keep some things going during the summer to help us all make it through to the fall. Words can’t tell you how excited I am for the fall tour, and it’s great you’re just as excited.

(P.S. Give Jordan a little nudge to blog!)

You made me cry…….!!! It’s so good to hear from you! Unfortunately I wasn’t at the Today show.. quite far from Italy..
I really hope you’ll come to Italy (or near!) so I’ll be able to see a NKOTB concert for the first time!!! I found so many italian girls that have the same dream ;)
    take care ;)

  63. NKOTBFanForever Says:

WOW!!!! That was a wonderful post! I was crying as I read it! It really touched my heart! I know even watching from home, I was thankful to be a part of it. It WAS a beautiful moment!!! This reunion is the best reunion that has ever happened in the history of reunions!!! You were a big part of my life growing up and it just means sooo much now as a mom that I can share your music with my daughter, too! Of course, it feels great acting like a teenager all over again, standing in front the TV screaming and crying. LOL! I have no shame in admitting that. If you ask my 5 year old, she says that I was like a hysterical monster. LOL!

Hope to catch one of the concerts, if you come to NEW ORLEANS!!!!!! You filmed the Right Stuff here, so you should come back to the Superdome to play!!!!!!! It’s only right!!!!!

    Brandi

  64. wtgerkat Says:

    Hi Joe,
It was nice to see your post this morning. I just wanted you all, to know how awesome it is that you are back. You guys were my first concert and the most memorable time of my life. Now that your back I have reverted to a 15 year old (with more responsibilities =) again and I’m lovin’ it. You guys still rock and always will. I am so bummed I could make it to the first three shows but I will be seeing you in Denver. Good Luck and have fun.

  65. Sherry76 Says:

    Hi Joe!

I must say that waking up to find a new blog from you has made my day! :) You guys were my first concert. My mom didn’t want to get me tickets and I had to cry until I made myself physically ill to get them. It was completely worth it! I can remember the day so clearly….waiting all day in school, knowing I’d actually be seeing NKOTB that night. I can even remember songs that played on the radio on the hour long drive to the venue. It was quite literally one of the most memorable events of my life.

I’ve had to revert to acting like a 14 year old and I’ve thrown quite the hissy fit to get my husband to agree to take me to a concert this time around. Again, I’m sure it will be worth all the “grow up” jokes I’ve had to endure from my husband. I’m ready to make new memories with you guys, and like everyone else, I’m honored to be along for the ride. I can’t wait to see what y’all have in store for us!

    XOXO,
    Sherry :)

  66. salbash Says:

Thank you for putting your heart and soul into this. It means a lot to us fans and we can’t wait to see the end result. Take care and have a great summer!

  67. Fan forever Says:

What can we really say to you to thank you for this gift that you have given us…your fans.
Its funny, I had thought about you guys over the years and as time went on it was like the door to that part of my memory was closing …ever so slowly. It was like I would listen to a song and the door would fling wide open…and that is one amazing feeling.
I saw interviews where you in particular had mentioned the “brotherhood” you shared. I think all the fans will agree that we too belong to a family. When i see people’s reaction and the crazyness it just feels like you never left. I think all of us have moved on in life…marriage and kids etc….but its so strange how….when we see u guys together the feelings are so charged…you guys need to have a medical term named after you …coz whatever it is you do its universal! It hits everyone in the same way, in the same spot…..thank you for giving us a chance to experience this a second time…….God Bless.

  68. Belladawna Says:

Hey Joe! I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to jot down a few thoughts for us! The simple fact that you (and all the guys) are so appreciative and humble only intensifies the love. While you weren’t my first concert (that was the Beach Boys LOL), I can’t wait to see you for the first time in Toronto on Sept 21st (with any luck, I’ll get to meet you all some day too!)!!

    Thanks again, Joe!!

    Lots of Love,
    Dawn

    Joe,
I was so happy to be part of the come back concert on The Today show!! Waiting in the rain and sleeping in the street was totaly worth it!!! My friends and I have bought 5 Star VIP for the CT show at the Mohagan Sun, I cant not wait to meet you guys and show you how happy we are that you guys are back. We have been waiting for a long time and are so thankful that it has happen. My 14 year old daughter has been listening to Summertime alot!!!
    See you in CT!!!

  70. dnhamilton Says:

I cannot express how happy I am that you are all back for another kick at the can. The only things you and I share are age and children and most of all the love of music. I saw you when you performed in Calgary, AB lets say in 1990? My husband (boyfriend at the time) drove my best friend and I from BC to the concert. We attended with one of my sisters. Let me tell you, it was all that they could do from preventing me from launching myself off of the first balcony onto the stage. They said that they will never forget the expression on my face when you all appeared on stage…it was priceless. And yet here we are again today, and I am looking forward to seeing all of you again in Montreal in September. My husband is still amazed by my behaviour. What an I say? I feel like a teenager again.
I am looking forward to traveling from Nelson, BC all the way to Montreal with one of my sisters. We will have a wonderful time. And I thank my hubby as well- he’ll be home with the children!
I am very happy that this is making all of you so very happy.
    Keep up the hard work!
    Nina,

    F*ck The Rest!

  72. Lilac18 Says:

Thanks Joe. I don’t cry easily and you had me in tears with that one. It’s so great that you seem to understand what your fans are all feeling right now. We blog with each other all the time about not even being able to comprehend how much love we feel for you guys and how this whole new kids community is like a family. No other band has this. The reason you guys get so much love from us and that it is “everlasting” is that you send it right back at us, very few people in the public spotlight are humble enough to do that and you guys always have, even 20 years ago. For that, I will always love you right back and dream of the day when I can give you a big huge hug to show you how much you mean to me and all the rest of the “new kids family”. We are also so happy that your real family is so willing to share you with us and that is why everyone has been so eager to welcome Barrett and Griffin with open arms (I always thought I would be jealous if you got married, but how could I not love Barrett, she’s awesome!).

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the blog!
    Love you!

  73. JordansGirl Says:

    Joe,

The 5 of you are so special. I think you get “it”- what you mean to us. And you all, always, make us feel like we mean something to you, too.

Only one other musician has ever had any devotion from me in my 30 years… and I was everso unfortunate to meet him for about 45 seconds, and he treated me like a burden. My fanhood for him began it’s decline at that moment and now, I do not support him at all.

I said that to say that I cannot express to the 5 of you enough how much I appreciate your respect for us. My fan relationship with that other musician lasted about 1 year… but the way I feel about the 5 of you has lasted almost my entire life. It is your talent and your showmanship that started it. But on top of all that, it is your respect and honor for your fans and your ability to stay grounded that has earned your keep in the hearts of so many of us. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. To you, Joe… and all of you!

    See you in September!!
    With much love and respect,
    Natasha.

That’s so funny – New Kids was my first concert too! I was 10 years old, it was the Magic Summer Tour and my mom was in line for two days to get me tickets. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited than I was when she surprised me with those tickets! 18 years later, I’m reliving that excitement all over again. Thank you all so much for this reunion tour – we’ve hoped for this for so long and it has definitely been worth the wait!

  80. miss_ava Says:

Joe, Joe, Joe. I actually agree with you. Yes, it would have been nice if it wasn’t raining just like Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday but tha fact that it rained hard only on the day, the TIME, that you guys performed, made it all that much more special. It really showed the tenacity of how much we want this reunion because we stuck it out there with you guys and I’m so proud of you all for doing the concert in the soaking rain. That was my first NKOTB concert experience ever and you guys made it surreal for me. Even though I never thought I would cap out for 32 hours to see ANYONE perform, you guys brought out the persistance, the fun, and the passion in me. Thank you so much for loving us. We love you more!! :)

  81. mel.c Says:

Joe, Your blog put tears in my eyes… it is so great to hear that you all as excited about this new album and tour as we the fans are.
New Kids was my first concert and all of this excitment is bringing me back to that time, it was a good time and it’s nice to be back in that frame of mind!
Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to hear the new songs and see you all on Tour.

    Melissa
PS.. Please let Jordan know his fans are anxiously awaiting his first blog :-)

  82. WendyJo Says:

    Hey Joey,

Yep, you guys were my first. And you know what they say about that… you never forget your first. :)
I feel bad for all the other artists I saw after you… they always had to be compared to NKOTB, and none of them could ever surpass the feeling I got when I was with you… LOL

Joking aside, you guys just evoke such passion and emotion from your fans… and I genuinely believe it’s because you give back what we give you. It’s a give and take, wheras other entertainers just take, take, take. You guys come out into the mob to shake hands, take pictures, sign autographs… you reach out from the stage to touch as many people as you can… that shows that you actually appreciate your fans.

I’m hoping we get more than 6 years together this time. ;) It takes time to do it right. LOL

I’m just interested to see what you all are like now that we’re all grown ups. :o) Most of us are married, parents, in careers. Now we’ll see if you guys are better performers than the Wiggles (I don’t know, tough act to follow…)

BTW - come to Calgary, AB!! GAH Why do bands always do Edmonton and not Calgary….!??

  85. dooniemom3 Says:

Thank you so much for getting back together!! You guys were my first concert and my only concert until two years ago. I remember my aunt taking me to your concert when I was little. I was super excited to be there and was not bothered by the fact that even with binoculars you guys looked liked ants. Our seats were about ten rows from the very top of the Cincinnati stadium. I did manage to get a few pictures, obviously not very good ones being as far away that I was. I was young and did not know about camera film and light…..Yeah…..I was so excited to see the pictures that I pulled all of the film out of the camera right under the lamp so that I could see what I was doing. I do not have any proof that I was at the concert only memories. Knowing that I was there is the best gift of all…..but I would like to have a better experience. PLEASE PLEASE Come to Cincy and help me relive one of my favorite memories!!! I love you guys…..always have and always will!!!

I love the fact that my favorite all time group is back! It makes me fell so good about life again! You 5 have brought me back out of a dark place in my life and I am the happiest I have been for a really long time. I even got my daughter very excited too! She loves your song summertime! Thank you so much for coming back! My life is now complete that you all are back in it! I love you Joe, Jon, Jordan, Danny & Donnie! With all 5 of you in my life again my heart beats again! Awwwww Joe, you’re gonna make me cry…:)

When I was 13 (and hopelessly in love with you! :D), it was difficult being a die-hard New Kids fan in Malaysia. The magazines can only offer so much, and I had to live your concerts through the experience of my penpals. My collection of memorabilias was extensive, but I wasn’t even aware there were New Kids marbles - the news just never reached our shores. You were stars in every sense of the word - illuminating, yet distant and out of reach.

It never crossed my mind that 15 years later, I would be able to share my feelings and excitement not only with my fellow Blockheads from around the world, but with you guys as well. You and the rest of the guys know that we fans love you, and you have made us feel that we are loved in return - for that I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.

I too am extremely grateful that I am part of this powerful relationship which has proven it can stand the test of time. It has been an exhilarating ride so far - I can’t wait to continue this journey and experience the rest of YOUR amazing ideas ;)

Take care & lots of love,

  89. Queen of Scots Says:

    Oh Joe,
thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us! Your blog really touched my heart. Yes, you guys were my first concert in May 1991. Other concerts by other artists that followed during the years were great and very professional, but one thing between those artists and me was missing: the connection and the love. And I must say that I can feel it even more today than I could feel it all those years ago, definitely partly because of the internet and how we can now easily interact with you and other fans.
So, thank you for everything all those years ago and even more for what you are doing today. But please don’t neglect your families because of us fans. We can wait. We are patient. And we’ll always be there for you. Well, you have figured that out by now ;-)

    Much love,

NKOTB!!! You were my first concert. My mom took me almost 20 years ago. And last weekend at Zootopia you were my daughters first concert as well (she is 7…not much younger than I was at my first concert). It was so emotional for me. I was able to share my first experience with my daughter. And since I was able to take my mom with me she got to enjoy both of our first concerts with you. I cried. It was very touching.

Also, our seat were right on the side of the stage. So I could see while you were getting ready to perform. I have to say that the sight of all of you hudled together right before you took the stage was amazing. I could almost feel you excitment.

I am soooo glad you decided to get together again. I can not wait to see you in AC in September.

    THANK YOU!!!

You guys were my first concert at the Sainger Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana. I loved you guys then and I am still loving you guys.

  93. Kaydells Says:

Joey Joe!! You have grown into such a wonderful man even through all of the hype. Kudos to you!!!!! Thank you for not letting all of the hype go to your beautiful head. I will agree with the other fans when we say, I hope this is not a one album, one tour, reunion. Although you have all had individual success in your lives, the 5 of you together is nothing less than pure magical. Words cannot describe how the “New Kids” affect their fans. It is nice to hear that we fans may in some way shape or form have a similar affect on you guys as well. The fans are behind you guys for as long as you will ride the ride. The NKOTB freight train has started, and hopefully the final destination has yet to be determined.

THANK YOU for bringing us “BLOCKHEADS” back to life. A part of my life was dead for so long. I listen to “Summertime” and all of your old stuff, and I can’t stop smiling the whole way through it. People at work think I have lost my mind. As long as I am playing NKOTB; nothing seems to get me down.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

    Congrats on the new family!!

See you in Denver, Atlanta, and Vegas!!

Thank You so much for taking the time to post this blog Joe!

I have been a fan since I was 10-11 years old and am now nearing 32 (eeeeek thanks for the reminder lol). I think you are a beautiful man (as I am sure you have heard many times before) and I think the NK’s are all incredibly talented and handsome.

The way you all relate to your fans touches my heart and I never regret a minute I have spent as a fan, nor a dollar I spent on your merchandise. You all are the best group a fan could ever want to love!

In my teen years, my parents couldnt afford tix for me to go to your shows but compromised and I got to see all the pay per views. I have tapes out the wazoo and have never parted with any of them. I am going (FINALLY) to my first concert in September at the IZOD Center in NJ and can’t wait. It’s going to be the happiest moment I have ever experienced because it reminds me of when I was a teen and cried because I couldnt go to a show. It’s like the best gift you could ever imagine anyone giving you… I finally get my show! :-)

Thanks for getting back together. Your hard work will never be underappreciated by your fans.

    XOXOXOX
    Gail from NJ

    Joe,

Thank you to you, Jordan, Donnie, Danny and Jon for making my teenage years the best they could be! I still remember going to a concert in August 1990, and the Magic Summer Tour being a highlight of my youth. I am even more excited to see you guys perform in 2008, and I think I can speak for all fans when I say “We are ready!”.

    Hugs to all you guys!

    Laura

  96. Di Says:

Hi, I live in Scotland and only found out last week that the New Kids had got back together - so excited!!!
I went to their first ever UK concert in Edinburgh, and even though it wasn’t my first concert, I was definitely my most memorable.
Can’t wait to here some more from you guys.
    xx

  97. spursfan Says:

I wish I could say that you guys were my first concert, but that’s not true. I did see Jordan in concert when I went to my first concert. So now I can’t wait to see you in concert when I and if I go to your concert in SA on October 17th.

    Love U, Kathy

  98. hummingbirdbleu Says:

    Joey…. Joey!!

I love this. Every second of it is like an absolute dream. We really grew up together didn’t we? Because of that we have such a bond with each other. I am incredibly thankful to all of your family members who may find out that it was like you never left.

You guys were my first concert too, and the only concert I would ever consider attending by flying across the country for, or going to at least three of them (I’ll go to more if I can). I am so excited because we love the old material, and ALL the new material we’ve heard is INCREDIBLE so far. You guys have remained humble about all of this… that’s amazing too. The love you show us and the appreciation is something I’ve never had from any other music group. I feel like we know each other, and that we really do MATTER to one another.

I keep thinking I’m going to wake up and it’ll have been a dream the whole time. This is the most wonderful thing to happen in a long time. I will continue to support my love for you guys forever.

There’s probably nothing I can say that hasn’t been said before, but DAMN JOEY MAC!! Thank you! Thank you to you, the guys, and your family members.

This time we get to read blogs and respond to them and bond with our fellow fans… obviously back in the day we didn’t have these opportunities so it’s a new experience
again. We love the videos of you guys goofing around - the infamous 2girls video is SOOOO funny and even though the content is what it is, the spotlight is really on you guys interacting with each other the way you do. It was PRICELESS! Each time you watch it you get something else out of it.

THANK YOU for everything!! I hope this time will be as incredible for you as it is for us. Every second is like a little treasure. Like a little gold mine. I feel rich in spirit again, inspired, alive. You reconnected us to our young selves again and it feels really good. Life comes along and sweeps us up in it’s day to day realities, but this is an escape from all of that. A return to when your music and your presence helped us all through some very difficult times, and some very joyous, carefree times.

I LOVE YOU FOR ALL YOU ARE, AND ALL THAT YOU DO!

THANK YOU JOEY MAC, THANK YOU NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY SOON-TO-BE-THIRTY HEART!!

  102. Pao Says:

    Joe,

You guys WERE my first of SO MANY THINGS!!! and what an amazing opportunity that I can get it all back, for a minute, or a lifetime!!!

You were my first concert, and ever since then, my standards in music have only gotten more and more demanding!!! I love you guys for it. It makes me feel that I owe you THAT as well.

I just want to say this as short and sweet as possible (still recovering from Bronchitis I got from the Today Show…but I am NOT BLAMING YOU!!! I would have done what I did - sit in line for over 15 hours - 100,000 times more if it meant that I’d be as close as possible to the 5 guys that changed the course of my life FOREVER)

You are an amazing guy… incredibly talented and not so bad looking! ;)

    Thank for coming back!!!

    All my love and support,

    Pao

PS: you went to the same school as my sister in St. Mary’s!!! I got to see you at an end of the year performance, and you ROCKED THE HOUSE, my friend!!! You had graduated already, I think…but they had asked you to come back for that one performance…

  103. lisa_sullivan Says:

Thanks Joey! That is so awesome! We love hearing how you guys are feeling about this reunion, because honestly, if you guys weren’t hyped up about it, it just wouldn’t be the same! We love you all and look forward to seeing you live! Thanks for taking the time to keep us all posted! :)

  104. Missie-32 Says:

Joey: It has been so much fun to see how you 5 interact with one another. Seriously the bond you 5 have is so great. It’s like you were never apart! And with that it’s like we were never apart from you 5! Yes we all “grew up” but that bond is still there. And being able to interact with you all, this time around is just awesome!!! We truly feel the sincerity in each of your posts. With that being said I can’t wait to hear from you more as the summer goes on and as you guys get ready to hit the road again!!! I am so excited to hear the entire cd. I have been playing “Summertime” over and over again just like I did with your other tapes back in the day….I love it!!!! I can’t wait to see you in Salt Lake in November!!!!! Take care and God Bless you all!!!!

YOU GUYS WERE MY FIRST CONCERT!!
In Stockholm, Sweden, November 1st 1991 you and the guys rocked the roof off the Globe arena!!
I can´t wait till you come back and do it again.
This time I can afford not one but hopefully several concerts.
I hope you make at least a few stops in Sweden but I will travel to see you, believe me I will!!
To see you together on stage again is mindblowing.
The bond I see you guys have is admirable.

To hear from you in this manner, something that never happened “back in the day” is bringing you closer to us.
I feel closer to you now (God Bless the internet =0) )than I ever did and I can follow you closer.
Imagine how it would be if we didn´t have internet… I´d still be in the blue I guess hehe.

    Joe,
Thanks so much for the post. It’s so awesome to have you guys back together. You bring back so many great memories. New Kids was my first concert back in July of 1989 at Kings Island in Cincinnati. I loved every minute of it even though we were like 5 rows from the back and you were all little specks on stage!! Finally, 18 years later I was able to meet you after a DWTS show and again after a show you did in Indianapolis. You were so nice and it was totally worth the wait. Thanks for giving your fans another opportunity to make more memories with the New Kids. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again at the first Chicago show! Take care!

Also, a few of my new friends (”old”)-New Kids Blockheads will be going to see you with us. We cannot wait to see all of you!! Again, this has been well worth the wait. But, alas, THE WAIT IS OVER!! NKOTB was supposed to be my first concert. but my mom was so overprotective, I never got to see you guys, so this is truly a dream come true. I am happy in my bones, I can’t even express it. It feels like you guys are so surprised that so many people are buying tickets to your shows, but trust me, to your fans, this is the event of a lifetime. Can’t wait to see you guys!

  117. ElizabethGere Says:

Your post always get me teary eyed! Even when you did them on your site! You guys just totally rock! I’m so looking forward to seeing what all you have planned for us fans and you guys! The fall can’t get her fast enough.

Just as you said and many others have said. The Block was also my first concert. And all the shows I have seen after that of other bands have never made me feel the way I did when I saw the block! I’m looking forward to that feeling Oct 29.

Also if you guys add more dates can you please add TN in there. Nashville is very ready!

Thanks Joe!!! I love hearing from you guys, I think it is amazing hear that you and the guys feel the same things that the fans are feeling. We love that you guys are back and bringing back all these wonderful feelings. I’m so giddy right now waiting for the concerts and watching to see if you are on tv. It is like being transported back to 1989, it is great I feel 10 again. You have made my 29 b-day even more special. I cannot thank you enough. There are not enought thanks in the world.

    Joetta Mozingo

p.s. You were my first concert.

  119. Rachm Says:

Thank you Joe. Everytime you guys post a blog, it just get’s sweeter and sweeter. Yes, you were my first concert too - Sunday 13 May 1990 at the London Docklands Arena and I was 15, nearly 16!

It is such an amazing thing to be part of, what we - the fans and the group - have - and no one else can possibly understand, but I’m glad in a way as that makes it all the more special. People now want to try and understand but unless they are part of it like we are they can’t come close.

You are right, our love for you guys is there forever. Someone said to me when I was leaving school (I’m now 33!), once a Blockhead, always a Blockhead, and I agreed. I’m so proud to be a fan of such a wonderful, caring, gorgeous, talented, fantastic group. I love you guys so much. Please come to the UK soon so we can thank you personally for all your kind words and try to explain just how happy we are that you are back and how excited we are. You know, we all seemed to have needed this kind of excitement back in our lives again and this is just the right time.

    Love

    Hey Joe!!!

You’ll be my second concert even I’ll feel like a teenager again so that will be my first lol
You, guys, became so famous when you were young but you kept your feet on earth and we never heard or read something bad about you! When people laugh at me because I still love you (18 years) that’s one of the reason I give about my love and respect for you. Nobody’s perfect of course ;-)
You made us the most amazing surprise with your reunion. Thanx again for all the happiness you give me :-)
I can’t wait to heard your album and to see you on concert!!
    Love,

  121. Kelley Says:

    Joe,

Hard to believe that after so many years, and after so much has changed in my life, I am still a diehard New Kids on the Block fan. I’ll jump in with the rest and say that NKOTB was my first concert too. We were in the very back of the arena and ever since then I have vowed to get front row next time–come on I Love All Access, please don’t give me tenth row! ;) I saw you from the front row a few times in 1999, but the energy was different then. There was such a struggle for recognition from anything other than the TRL crowd, and as good as it was, it didn’t feel like it does now.

I can’t wait to actually meet all five of you and then see you on stage up close. When you are together, it’s MAGIC, and that’s why I hope that you stick together this time even if it’s in name only. There will always be solo careers because you are adults and you have your own visions–but why break up something so beautiful that you can always return to? Keep it there for the fans just like we have always kept it there for you. :)

    See you in Detroit!!!!!!!!

    xo Kelley

  122. Gail JK Lady Says:

Yey Joe. That relationship between you guys & us, the fans, is what made me a die hard NK fan! I’d heard you & seen you on TV but when I went to a concert & felt like you all were having so much fun & that you were including us right along with you I was taken in. I was a mom at the concert & a music lover so I’d been to MAAANNNY shows before but never had a group make me feel like that! I fell in love right then & there & although my kids like different music now, I haven’t stopped being a fan for a single day in 18 & a half years. I even did an off line 44 page bi-monthly fanzine along with it’s international group of members. I now have a MY SPACE page called Gail’s Jordan Knight Experience with over 12,500 views. I never regret a moment of time I spend being an active fan. It’s brought me endless enjoyment & many wonderful friends all thanks to you guys! I love you all! Gail

  123. missjuls Says:

That was one of the greatest things I have read all day. Its amazing to hear your side of this crazy yet amazing madness. You were in fact my first concert and it was one I will forever remember. You guys were full of such energy and fun. But what was even more amazing was being at the kiss concert and waiting and waiting all day for the reunion of NKTOB right in front of my eyes. I woke up that morning so excited and I put on my nkotb shirt from way back in the day (yes it still fits). I bought lawn seats so I thought to myself, I won’t even be as close as I want. But then Romeo (Kiss 108 DJ) saw my AMAZING nkotb shirt and upgraded my seats. The second you guys stepped on that stage it was the greatest rush ever. The energy and love in that venue was unreal. Tears, yelling, smiling, and jammin along to your songs is all I saw from every fan, along with myself. You guys have so much love! Thank-you for reuniting and bringing back great music! I can’t wait to welcome you guys back home again in September at the Garden.

    -Julie

  124. ksardis Says:

It’s funny because when you guys did your last interview in the middle of the crowd on the Today Show, I was right here and I saw your face and at one point you mouthed “Wow.” I can’t tell you how much that means to your fans, that you love us just as much as we love you. I even wrote a post about it on the community board, that you guys looked so touched. And you were my first concert (I believe I told you that when I interviewed you back in 2004 for a celeb weekly I worked at). Can’t wait to see you guys in concert!

  125. tmoney23 Says:

Joey I am Glad that you guys are back in the light. I have told my wife for years that you guys would be back together. I am here to ask you guys for 2 things. The first is her in Iowa we were hit with a Tornado that ruined 1 town and left alot of others in pieces. I know you guys have a busy summer but I figured I dont know how to get in touch with any other celebrities that may be able to help so hoping you read this blog. The second would be and probably here this all the time but, it is worth a shot. I am hoping I can go to your concert in the twin cities, if it is not sold out and if I can finatially afford it. I am wanting to do all access, the chance to meet the guys I mold my life after would be one of the highlights of my life. Getting married and having kids and watching them grow are right up there to. You guys since the first new article I read and TV interview, concerts and interviews on Disney and your famous cartoon you always preached Brotherhood, and love for your family and I have tried to live my live by that. So if there is way for you guys to help me get tickets and meet you guys that would be great. IfI did have to choose meeting you or your someway helping out some towns in iowa I would have to defer to meet you guys another time. I have been emailing 300 radio stations, TV stations any thing and anyone with no luck again I hope to see you guys in the cities any help to the small towns that were just demolished by the storm would help. Again if there is anyway for you to allow me to meet you guys it would be great 712-348-3100

    Hi Joey!

Well, you won’t be my “first” concert (that honor goes to Darren Hayes last year) BUT it will be my first time EVER seeing you guys perform in person (unless you count House of Blues two weeks ago :-)). I plan to see you guys here in L.A. and then travel to Las Vegas. I have no doubts that it will be a great adventure for all involved.

    I can’t wait!!!

    Hey Joe!!

This is surreal…really! You guys were my first concert…MN State Fair. I believe you were with Tiffany and Tommy Page??? If I am remembering correctly! My friend and I took an old bed sheet and painted “keep hanging tough” on it in blue house paint!! It’s hilarious all these years later to think back on that. I still have the sheet!

Everytime you guys came out with a new CD I would immediately scan each song for your voice. You have such a beautiful voice that has remained a very favorite of mine all these years. When you did the line from “Please Don’t Go Girl” on the Today Show I was blown away. Such happy memories from a very fun time in my life when all things were centered on New Kids!!

Thanks so much for this blog and I hope I get tickets before they sell out to your MN show. I have to be there!!

Welcome back guys! You’ve been missed!!

I also want to cry everytime one of you guys says how it is all for US the FANS, to bring us a great show. That is awesome, I hope that I get to see it, I don’t live near a venue but I will try my hardest to make it to one.

    Keep Rockin

It always seemed like it would only be a dream to be able to meet you guys. Now, you’re making that dream come true for me. THANK YOU! I’ve been waiting for 20 years! I’m sure the wait will be well worth it. As you said you’ve heard so many times, you guys were my first concert too! I went to 3 concerts & I loved them all. WOW!!! Is about the best word I can even come close to describing the way I feel about you guys!!! This tour means so much to me on a personal level, because when I was younger and you guys came to St. Louis my mom and grandma told me I was to young to go to a concert….so now that you guys are back and I’m almost 31 (OMG can you belive it) it just has motivated me to figure my life out and draw closer to God!!!!

So THANK YOU 5 from the bottom of my heart for doing this for your fans….. I hear you talk about your fans and that’s great but don’t forget to give credit to the one who made all of this possible to begin with, GOD!!!!!!!!

I pray for you guys everyday, that God blesses you and your families in all you do….I pray that he keeps all of us safe during theese troubled times….
